Hi, guys! Good morning. Short and sweet Saturday Surfing today because Connor’s birthday party is this afternoon, and despite my best efforts to plan the living crap out of everything early on, there’s still a few last-minute details to iron out. I’m so happy to throw her a party, but man, I’m tired. After it’s done, I’m looking forward to sitting on my couch. Maybe I’ll even take a nap!

Birthday parties are a lot of work, I get stress “relief” headaches after a bday party every single time! There’s always something to do, someone to entertain, last minute surprises, and then of course the cleanup.

Dear Husband once lost his passport in Japan on the day he was to fly home. He went shopping in the morning and when he pulled out his wallet to pay the taxi driver he didn’t notice that his passport came out too. When he went to pay for the gifts he was buying he noticed his passport was missing. He reported it to the nearest Koban (which was not the easiest thing as the police officers did not speak English and he doesn’t speak Japanese.) Since he had only a few hours before he flew home he went to the embassy to see if he could get an emergency replacement passport. He spent an hour to two doing that and then rushed back to the hotel to checkout and pick up his luggage before catching the train to the airport. When he was at the hotel desk, someone on staff came up with his passport. They explained that one of the next passengers in the taxi found the passport and gave it to the driver. The driver looked at my husbands photo and remembered picking my husband up at the hotel. Instead of handing it to a Koban he drove back to the hotel and gave it to the hotel staff to return to my husband. I was just happy Dear Husband was able to fly home on the scheduled day.
Unlike in the U.S. where it is “finders keepers” in Japan if people find money or anything on the street they hand it in to a Koban.

I listened to the podcast of The Dropout, the bad makeup looks really accurate. And semi fried hair. The voice that Holmes did is so disconcerting, but the way women speak is definitely maligned I’m corporate America, so I get that.
I took a really long walk with Hettie, it was in the 50s today, and Zack took me out for bubble tea.

I predicted MUG would go out of business. All of the OG brands like Costal Scents, BH Cosmetics, now MUG are falling at the way side. There style of business just isn’t relevant anymore. Marlena turned her back on the brand due to some personal issues and the beauty industry exploded in her absence and she never recovered. Her ideas may have come from a place of practicality but they just weren’t modern or what people were interested in. To rebrand and come out with that matrix system was a mistake and just dated. I get the idea but it just didn’t grab anyone’s attention. People want premade palettes honestly. The move to Target was a step in the right direction but it didn’t last. Such a shame bc her formula is good and on par with Sydney Grace imo.
PS to blame her closure on “supply chain issues” is such a cop out. Um all of these brands beginning from indie to mid end to lux and they have no supply chain issue but you do? Always hated how Marlena lies. A huge reason why I went to Colourpop over MUG. She’s always the victim and always full of excuses. She always places the finger on everyone else and just never owns up to her mistakes. Sorry for the rant but hard to feel sorry for someone when I have to cut through so much bull
I just got my order of some of the GXVE makeup today! I did NOT order the lipstick as with dark auburn hair and a rosy complexion red lipstick is NOT my friend. But I LOVE the Line it Up eyeliner – put it on this morning and it’s not smeared yet, not typical with my hooded lids. I also really like the eyebrow pencil – it has an ultra-fine point so you can draw in little lashes and it has a brush to separate or blend. Note: The eyebrow colors are dark. I ordered a medium warm brown and it’s VERY dark on. I’d go one shade lighter next time. The eye shadow is pretty powdery but blends really well. I’d order again.
