How’s your Christmas shopping coming along? I hope you aren’t having to brave the crowds in these last couple days. Have I ever told you that one of my least favorite things on Earth — ON EARTH — is parking lots at Christmas?
Not. A. Fan.
Man, the Costco parking lot by my house? Or, rather, any Costco parking lot in any town in America at Christmas? How can it take 20 minutes for my car to move 20 feet?

Ladybugs on the ground are passing my car.
A snail that hitched a ride on my car overnight literally climbed back down to the road because it knew it could go faster. 😂
But I digress…
Tabs loved Christmases, but it was easy for him because he was the boss, whereas I’m the one who had to do all the jobs. I had to decorate the office, make all the ornaments, get all the gifts, schedule all the cat spa services. It was a lot!
Thankfully, Rosie is more chill about Christmas. She pretty much sticks to her own agenda.

Like, by studying meteorology…

And astronomy! In fact, she’s pretty sure she found something new in the night sky…

Earlier this month, she interned with the largest toy manufacturer north of the Arctic Circle. She said it was very interesting and rewarding.

Marnie just loves everything that isn’t scary, so she’s having a great holiday season.

That’s one of the great things about Marnie. She’s very easy to please.

The one upside to having no one to buy for is that I don’t have to brave the crowds in Target or elsewhere. I don’t have a Costco or Sam’s membership – too expensive. They’re designed for people who like to buy in bulk (in Texas that’s usually families of at least 4 people). I remember going to the Sears at a mall every year, and they were always SO busy. It’s hard to believe that they were so mismanaged they’ve disappeared. The malls used to have so much business that people would completely fill the very large parking lots around them before Christmas. My area used to have 3 malls within easy driving distance. Those are all gone. Now I have to drive at least 7 miles to Galleria to reach the nearest mall. They used to be very elitest, but they have an Old Navy there now. The parking situation is horrible, though, because there’s almost no regular parking – you’re practically forced to use valet parking. A woman got shot (not killed) in their parking garage some years ago. The other two malls are about 12 miles away, and one of them is being heavily altered so much of it will not be retail shopping anymore. The other mall (ironically the oldest one) is rather elitist with its largely high-end shopping. I might go to one of these malls after Christmas to see the sale/clearance items.
Merry Christmas to you and your wonderful family! Thanks for bringing joy to many of us for so many years. 🙂
I hope Santa Paws was good to Rosie and Marnie!! 🐶 🐈🎄🎁❤️
