How it all began
Before he was famous
About three years ago I started to notice a chubby tabby cat skulking around my apartment building. I’d see him every few months or so, sneaking around the cars in the parking lot, but whenever I’d try to get his attention, he’d just flash me a dirty look and walk away.
For love and makeup
Then, one day I opened the apartment door, and there he was, sitting in the hallway in front of me. He must have seen all the makeup inside because he walked passed me into the apartment like he owned the place. And so began our dysfunctional friendship. 🙂
Photoshop phenom or kitty supermodel?
About a year into our relationship, Tabs and I were cruising the mall when a talent scout stopped us. “Have you ever thought about being a model?” he asked (he was referring to Tabs). That day marked the start of what’s turned out to be a successful kitty modeling career. He also blogs on the side…

I rescued my kitty from the SF care and control. I went to the shelter wanting to adopt a kitten, but got my heart stolen by a fully grown, 3 year old, dainty little grey tabby with a white tummy and white “socks.” 😀

It’s funny that so many people say they want to have cats but can’t because they are allergic. My whole family’s allergic but we have two! 😛
I don’t have any kitties, but we do have 6 chinchillas! The favorite is Mike Jr. (He was given to me by a friend who is a breeder, who named him after the chinny’s dad.) Sadly, Mike Jr. does not have a tail, as he was born breech, and his momma bit it off trying to get him out. It doesn’t stop him from being adorable! He’s a round grey little tubbo, with plenty of personality!
My three kitties: Patches, Homer, and Salem, would love to be best friends with Tabs and conquer the world!

Tabs isn’t chubby… just big boned.
Isn’t it great when a cat picks you instead of the other way around? My mom’s cat (Bo, short for Mr. Bojangles) had a similar story – he was wandering around the neighborhood shortly before I left for my freshman year in college and I started feeding him because he was starving but sooo friendly. Here it is 8 years later and Bo is totally a part of the family (even my dad who is really allergic to cats loves him, though he will never admit it). My husband and I have three cats of our own that we adopted from our local shelter. They are all girls – maybe one could be Tabs’ girlfriend? : )

And I’ve been wearing no makeup at all except for Benefit’s Samba-dy Love Me and a thin line of liquid eyeliner, which is strange for me. My boyfriend and I have two cats together. First we got Leonardo then we got Bruce. Both are named after superheroes. Leonardo the ninja turtle and Bruce Wayne of batman fame.
I consider them my first born children. I love how something so small and furry can instantly brighten my day 🙂
Azazel is my male black cat, and Sibila is my grey tabby female. I can’t imagine my life without them. Right now I’m typing this on my laptop and Azazel is sleeping at my side. Purrfection!

Very cute kitty … and much more stylish than mine! Her name is the Piglet, so named because she is a PIGLET!!! She was found on my parents’ property, starving, and she fought with my mom’s cat, so the parentals drove her out here (to CA from CO) to live with me. Now she is the opposite of starving. And she has a lot to say, but no blog … yet.

i have four cats and their names are lucky, karamel, charlie and bella.
lucky got his name because he was very abused when he was with his first owners and i think he’s “lucky” that we became his owners. we also call him “lucky duck,” or “lukie duke.”
karamel got his name because he’s caramel-colored, though his is spelled with a “k,” at my dad’s request. we also call him “mellow” and “mellow yellow.”
charlie got his name because he looks like a charlie. plus, i’m a big fan of the “twilight” books. we also call him “chaaaaaahles” or “bear,” or “charlie the bear” because he’s so big.
bella (stella) got her name because she’s pretty. plus, my dad knows what a “thing” i have for stars, so he suggested we add the “stella” at the end of her name because “stella” is italian for “star.” also, see “twilight” reference above. lol. we also call her mademoiselle, “bug,” or “bibitte” (french for “bug”) because she’s so little.
bella and charlie are brother and sister but the others are not related.

Congratulations to Tabs on his 100th Sunday! He’s so cute- looks just like my baby (Rascal) who ran away about a year ago. 🙁 Fortunately, our other two cats stayed with us when we moved. Chester is an all white kitty who seems to be schizophrenic. He likes large scary-looking men, laps, and killing birds and small mammals. Cassius is a very pudgy tuxedo cat who is not the brightest bulb on the christmas tree. He enjoys lying on top of open magazines, licking people, and chasing laser beams. They both like sleeping upside down and tripping people on the stairs.
Wow, sounds like I just wrote a personal for my cats. 😀 I actually tried to polish Chester’s claws once. Didn’t work out so well.

I walked up to a lady selling a Pom-a-Poo & a Shitzu. Orignally wanting the tan & brown Shitzu I ask “How old are they?” She goes well the Shitzu was born on (insert date here) and the Pom-a-Poo was born on Dec. 7th. MY BDAY! Pom-a-Poo it is….I love my Melo!

I like Tabs, because he reminds me of my old cat Kodiak, an old dusty white and tan cat who liked to laze about and look angry. He’s since gone, but now I have two cats I love very much: Blackjack (an old black ham obsessed cat), and Delilah (a mean, little cat who thinks she is the prettiest kitty this side of Cool Town).
When I was 3 years old, I got a present: a tabby cat, complete with red bow, which promptly scratched me and ran away. We named her Sassy, and I loved her dearly for many years. I hope someday to have another kitty in my life – though perhaps this time without the scratching/running part 😛
I love Tabs in part because he bears a resemblance to the tabby cat I grew up with. He passed a few years ago now and I still miss him, but the pics of Tabs always brighten my day. 🙂
I don’t have a cat, but my partner’s cat (who lives with his parents) is called Mouse. People always go ‘huh’ when I talk about Mouse… it’s a good trick for some lol.

I have such a great story. Also about a former street cat. A few years ago I was renting a small suite in a house and that’s how I met Lily. She was truly lily white and quite independent and feisty even after living for a few years with my landlord’s family. She was always ready to scratch you but I liked her all the same. One late night I was browsing the internet looking for jobs. Lily jumped on the table and she looked like she needed some company. Since I had a few scratches from her I thought I would put on a glove before I started playing with her. I stole me landlord’s work gloves, put them on and played with Lily for a good half hour, letting her exercise her claws and just enjoy herself. She looked so happy and then she did something that totally surprised me. I was sitting low in an office chair and leaning back. Lily climbed on my chest and then wrapped herself around my shoulders and neck like a big, warm, fluffy white fur shawl. She stayed there for a good 20 minutes, purring like crazy all the while. So the feisty former street cat needed and in turn gave affection.

Not only we were forced to sleep in the living room for the last two days (the air conditioner upstairs broke down), now neraly the enrite city’s power got shut off! Sometimes you just have to rush over to grandma’s house.

Wow, Tabs is being quite generous – it would be totally awesome if I won because I’m job hunting and I could use the extra $$$. I miss having my two kittens Olive & Feta… When I moved out of my old house, my roomie kept the cats. 🙁
I am a major pet lover 😀 Cats, dogs, hamsters, rabbits, fish… My very first pet was a cat and that was when I was still in first grade hahaha 🙂 Unfortunately when I was in high school my doctor said I developed hypersensitivity of some sort to cats = MAJOR SNEEZING, RUNNY EYES & NOSE which lasts for days. After how many cats, I now have nine dogs! 🙂 Also, I can now tolerate cats ‘coz of the meds I’m taking so I adopted some stray cats as well- Puts in Boots, Candy, and Cookie 🙂

I cat sat for my friend while she was on vacation and Nixie and my Toula (my dog) had it out the first few days!!! The were driving me nuts!!!! Fortunately for me, they became fast friends and Toula was sad to see Nixie go 🙁 ….awwwwwwwws….
Monday morning stinks!
When I first got my cat, I made the mistake of letting him outside one night. When I went to bring him in, he was nowhere to be found. I searched and searched with no luck. Time passed and I thought he either was gone for sure or worse… dead. After about a month, I was driving home and saw a cat that looked nothing like Malcolm. I jokingly said to my then- boyfriend, now-husband, “Look! There’s Malcolm!”. When we both looked again, right behind that cat WAS Malcolm! I couldn’t believe it. He was so skinny and it look lots of coaxing to get him to come out from where he’d hidden. I was and still am so thankful I found him.

Hi Tabs and Karen! My cat is named Squirt. When we first got him as a 2 month old, he would just sit on the dark carpet and we couldn’t see him. When we tried to pick him up, he would just ‘squirt’ away, hence the name.

After 3 years of wearing my hair wavy, I decided to wear it straight. It was a last minute decision, I was getting it permed again on Saturday when after they’d applied the cream to my hair that breaks the chemical bonds in them, I saw my hair straight and I realised I haven’t seen that in a long time. So I decided to ditch the perm for a straightening and figured that if I don’t like it, I’ll just perm it again in a few months. I’m still trying to get used to this look. I look younger but I feel much less sexy! It’s weird how people with wavy hair want stick-straight hair and people with straight hair want wavy hair.

My cat is named after Io a lover of the greek god Zeus. The same name as the bright orange Galilean moon of Jupiter, rather appropriate as she is an orange tabby.

My cat Momo was not named after the word meaning peach in Japanese, but rather after the title character of Michael Ende’s book, Momo (orig. in German; he’s the author of Never Ending Story, though the two books are very different in style). In the book, Momo saves the world by reclaiming the “time” people lost to a “time-banking” scam. Sort of a cautionary tale about people not taking time for each other (and ourselves) anymore.

I currently have 4 cats living with me- 2 are “ours”, 2 are visiting long term…Bean was named after a characted in the book Ender’s Game, since they were both tiny, down-trodden runts. BTW, Bean turned out to be a Maine coon, so he’s now the size of a raccoon!
Poe wad found stuck in a hole in our wall, and so was named after the macabe author who used this device.
My visitors just arrived a few weeks ago, and have caused plenty of confusion in the household with their names. One is ‘Bea’, the other Lily- which also happens to be my 2 1/2 year old daughter’s name!

I have a gunmetal grey (except for a white heart on her chest) Behemoth Cat named Pantha that’s about the same size as your Tabs. She’s currently investigating a box my parents sent me some books in, because it has Smells and is apparently highly relevant to her interests. Unfortunately for her, fifteen pound yard long cats don’t fit into the medium size pack-and-ship box that the Post Office sells.

I am actually cat sitting for my two favorite kitties, Fifi and Charkey. They are not liking me too much, they are spoiled by their real mother, my friend, who is on a week’s vacation and the cats basically want nothing to do with me……I feed them all their favorite foods, and still they show me no love, I am hoping in a few days they will warm up to me more cuz I adore cats, actually all pets!
We have 2 dogs, Max and Lucy, our black labs and I am so used to their constant interaction it’s hard when Fifi and Charkey don’t want me to pet them, etc……
Maybe if I bring over some MAC and Smashbox products they will warm up to me, hey, now there’s an idea, they are definitely diva-licious!!

That cat is ridonkulously adorable. I miss having cats! My ex had a cranky, elderly Siamese who was also the snuggliest cat I’ve ever known. As in, she’d get on your lap, make herself comfortable, and proceed to yell at you, in that particular shrill Siamese voice, if you dared to move before she was ready to get up.

My own tabby, Oscar DeVito King of Denmark, was named so creatively because my father wanted to name a cat Oscar, but I insisted that he was more of a Denmark. His previous owners (he was a shelter kitty) named him Vito, so we tacked that on in a more elegant form. Tabby love! <3

I always get excited whenever I see new pics of Tabs. My cat died recently and is the same color as Tabs.. sad sad sad.. Anyhooo, I got a new one and he’s name is “Lucky”. Wanna know why? Here in PI, people say that when a male cats have 3 colors, then its very unusual and should be considered lucky, hence the name.. My cat got his name, Fart, because he farted to get away from hugs when he was a kitten 🙂 He is still able to do it now – he’s 10 years old. And not too old to chase his own tail 😉

Love how BIG Tabs is! My cat, Moose, seems to have a very large, fish fillet shaped body but with the same size head as when she was a kitten. VERY strange…..but mostly funny. 🙂

I have a cat named Oscar because I climbed into a dumpster to rescue him as a kitten. He was very ill and one of my neighbors put him into the dumpster to die! 🙁 So sad. Anyway, now about 7 years later he’s fat- a 17lb double thumbed cat- and very happy. Horray!
Pepper got her name because her nose was the shade of freshly ground/cracked pepper. she’s a tabby just like Tabs! (and also fussy!)

This is one of my first visits to this blog and I’m totally a loyal follower now! Tabs is adorable and would love mac’s fabulous felines 😉 – seems much more cooperative than my aunt’s kitty who I visited this week- she would run away whenever I tried to pet her :p

I read your blog, saw Tabs, and wanted to have a cat. At that time, I lived in an upstairs apartment with a roommate so cats were out of the question. A few weeks after moving into my current place, I saw a stripped kitty that looks a lot like Tabs walking around in the parking lot. I pet him and gave him toast with butter. That was more than a year and a half ago. Now, Belly and I are going strong thanks to you and Tabs.

Tabs is one good looking kitty and I have a kitty that has almost identical personalities to him. He’s very dramatic but I love him to pieces. You turn a regular normal beauty blog by amping it up with loads of humour and tabs. 😀 I look forward to reading your posts everyday!
It literally always makes my day when i see Tabs posing he is sooooo cute!! I just want to climb through the computer screen and pet him all day long. If i could i would take him on a shopping spree and to a masseuse. Best kitty ever besides my three darling cats 🙂

I have three cats: Lex, Loki, and Vladimir. Loki was named because he’s mischievous, Lex because my sister liked the way it sounded, and Vladimir because I think he looks like he belongs in Russia with his pretty long fur and icy blue eyes.
