What do you think of all the cray-cray lipstick colors that are popular right now? Do you love ’em or leave ’em? In other words, how often do your lips take a walk on the wild side?
I like to know they’re around (a girl’s gotta have options). I mean, I’ll wear them if the timing’s right, like I can see myself wearing something out there to one of the free makeup classes at the Sephora by my house, but I don’t think I’d wear one to a dinner party or for date night or something like that.
I guess I’m more of a lipstick traditionalist that way.

Well I wore a kat von d black lippie once but it was the walking dead finale party and I dressed in all black including makeup…
I do have Time, the UD navy-ise blue lippie from the UD Wonderland collection and I actually might wear that.
Bite has a white iridescent lippie I also love- it is subtle and really moisturizing.
But the rest I’ll leave, thanx 🙂
I love ones that are easier to pull off like black, blue, and purple. I tend to only like deep shades though, so light blue is a nono.
Love ’em! I own four or five different black lipsticks, four blue lipsticks, two green, MULTIPLE purple ones, and I wear ’em any chance I can get.
I collect green lipsticks (& wear them, too). Lighter, pastel-y ones tend not to look as good on, though I keep them to mix with darker blues or blacks. Any emerald or dark greens, though, I LOVE.
In the late 90’s I had a friend who’d wear these and love them, but they were never for me even back then. I still like to see them on other people because they remind me of a Delia’s catalog. I do wear the browns and gray tinged lipsticks that are in.
Leave ’em. I always play it very safe when it comes to lip colors!

Leave ’em. It’s been ages since I’ve wanted to wear a dark purple or black lipstick and I’m good with that. Have never worn a green or blue lipstick. Since marrying Dear Husband so many years ago, I find I’m gradually becoming more conservative, in everything, from my makeup to the way I dress. Don’t get me wrong, because I still love to rock a red lip. Anything from a soft sheer red, to a bright red to a deep dark vamp red.
Leave ’em – my boyfriend would literally laugh out loud if I wore a green/blue lipstick and lipstick is supposed to entice him.
Leave ’em. I’m pretty pale (MAC NC 15) so I mainly wear makeup to add colour to my face, and make sure I don’t look too dead – and I can’t see black or green lippie helping with that!
However I think it’s awesome that these colours are out there, and I love to see other people rocking them!
Testing the waters!
I remember about six years ago when I just started out in makeup and thinking UD’s Anarchy was too much for me…
That said, I’ve taken a deep dive from my berry / purple comfort zone this summer, starting with Bite Beauty in Kale and Estee Edit in The Storm, and after seeing those swatches for MAC’S Midnight Troll I had to pick that one up too! I’m another Filipina with the same shades of skin tone, though for me I’d imagine having more difficulties with a lighter, brighter colour – whether it’s Mac Dreampot or KVD Bow and Arrow – if only because I feel it would pull too corpse lips on me, haha!
I’m glad nontraditional colours are being more mainstream now, and perhaps my blue lipsticks are one mechanism for asserting my late 20s identity. I was a good girl who did the three degrees my parents wanted, and I’d like to think I can hold my own if people want to doubt my capacity purely because of the color of my lips 😉
If it were acceptable at my job, I’d rock different colored lipsticks. On the weekend I usually splurge with a bright purple, orange, or blue lipstick. M-F 8-5 I’m in more traditional colors.
I’m glad that they exist, but I wouldn’t wear them – or I don’t think so. I think it’s great that there’s a wide variety of shades to choose from in the lipstick department nowadays, and if someone can rock minty green, then they should do it! As for me, I prefer shades that I are inside my comfort zone, where, you know, I’m comfortable, so I won’t be super self-conscious all day.
But I think some of the shades that are “out there” for me can work beautifully on other skin tones, so I like to see them available. For example if I had a deeper complexion I would definitely wear Bite Squid Ink or Kale!
You know I love them and wear them. I’m so pleased they’re cropping up in more mainstream brands.
I’d love to wear them but society has to be more prepared to see a guy with a badass lipstick and I need to be more brave to use it. I wouldn’t do light shades as they will wash me but I’d love to use a deep blue.
I think it’s awesome that brands are a bit more adventurous and give their customers more options.
On a daily basis they tend to be difficult to pull off but if you really wanna rock them,try to create an ombré effect using a more traditional color. They will still look edgy but a bit more wearable.
I think those new lip options represent the future and show that there are so many worlds to explore and conquer yet.
We still haven’t found the limits of makeup and it could take us even further than we imagine. We are just opening the doors of someplace that our grandchildren will consider to be their backyard. It’s very exciting to think we might be pioneers of something!
So have fun with your look and don’t be afraid to experiment!

I’m so happy that more and more unconventional colors are becoming available! I love the way that dark blue and grey lipsticks look on me, and I do wear them once in a while. For me the trick for building up my courage is to start by wearing them to the grocery store. It’s amazing the compliments that I get on grey lipstick or bright green lizard lids at the grocery store!
With conventional lipstick colors, the ones that flatter me are brighter, medium-dark, and blue-based — yellow and orange-based colors don’t look so good on me — and I’m finding it’s the same with the unconventional colors. So I like the way a deep blue or grey looks on me, and I’m thinking of trying UD’s Junkie to branch out into dark green.
I need to pull out my unconventional colors more often… they’re fun!
And makeup is supposed to be fun, right?
Leave ’em so far behind please!! At least for me. I’m not brave with lip Colts though and am actually in a lipstick rut. I think my lip color has changed and I just can’t find a go to color! I’ve spent a lot on lippies lately though trying! ?

Over the age of 25 =leave them. Except liquid lipsticks in these colors. They can be used as eyeliners.
I’d guess I classify as testing the waters? I picked up a lilac lipstick earlier in the year and I’ve been playing around with it. Though instead of wearing it full on I usually do a gradient with a pink lipstick/balm at the center (lately i’ve been reaching for clinique curviest caramel). I’ve been thinking of picking up a dark brown lipstick for fall, but I still need to go out and do some swatching before I commit.
