Smudgy or crisp edge?
I like both equally (smudgy because it’s forgiving and so much easier to do when I’m in a hurry, and crisp because it looks more pulled together), but today I’ll go with a crisp edge.
To be blunt, I’m working my way through a winged liner phase, and sharp, crisp edges have been doing a lot for my makeup soul.
Edgy graphic eyeliner: yes or no?
Yes, let’s do it! ?
Cake liner or cream liner?
Cream for the longer wear time on my lids (but I also like that I get to skip a step by not having to wet my brush and mix it into the cake liner!).
Anything to save a few extra nanoseconds, ya know?
Matte or metallic?
Hmm… This is a surprisingly tough one for me to answer. I want to say matte because I love the classic look of a striking matte liner, but sometimes the flat finish seems borderline harsh on my 40-something lids.
That said, I love how a flash of shimmery liner on my upper lash line instantly brightens my eyes with very little effort, but I feel like it doesn’t pack the same punch as matte liner does (and, dare I say it, it can look a little dated sometimes?).
I’m torn, but I’ll go with the matte option this time… Seems like it stands the test of time better.
Eyeliner stickers or an eyeliner stamp?
The stamp! — because I can just see the stickers falling off my face at inopportune moments, haha!
Oversized or skinny pencil tip?
Skinny, so I can draw those crisp edges without any drama.
Liquid liner: wand or pen?
Pen. Seems more “writerly.”
Pen tips: short and stiff, or long and flexible?
Long and flexible, with lots of glide!
Pencil or a twist-up?
Twist-up, a la the Chanel Stylo Yeuxs.
What pains you more: liner that smudges along your lower lash line, or liner transferring up into your crease?
I feel like liner smudging along my lower lash line is a bigger pain because it’s more obvious. At least when it’s up in my crease, it’s only really visible when I’m looking down for an extended time or I’m sleeping, both of which don’t really happen all that much throughout the day.
Spend or splurge on your liner?
Splurge on it, baby!
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. Happy Tuesday to you! Good morning! ? I’m back in the Bay Area and ready to rock ‘n’ roll this month. Here’s to a great July for all of us.
What are you up to?

Smudgy or crisp edge? Crisp on top, smudgy on bottom. Unless I’m doing a smokey eye, then smudgy on both.
Edgy graphic eyeliner: yes or no? Yes
Soft or stiff pencil liner? Soft, but not mushy
Cake liner or cream liner? Cream
Matte or metallic? Metallic
Eyeliner stickers or an eyeliner stamp? I’ve never tried either, but I’d go with stamp.
Oversized or skinny pencil tip? Skinny
Liquid liner: wand or pen? Pen
Pen tips: short and stiff, or long and flexible? Long and flexible
Pencil or a twist up? Either; no preference
What happens to you more: liner smudging along your lower lash line, or liner that transfers into your crease? As someone with hooded eyes, transferring to the crease is the bane of my existence.
Spend or splurge on your liner? I assume this should be “save or splurge.” Splurge
Wow! You look so glam!!
Smudgy or crisp edge? Smudgy!
Edgy graphic eyeliner: yes or no? Oh, gosh no.
Soft or stiff pencil liner? Soft, pls.
Cake liner or cream liner? If I had to choose (and I do – HAHA!), I’d go with cream.
Matte or metallic? Matte.
Eyeliner stickers or an eyeliner stamp? Stamp – I think the stickers would be uncomfortable and a malfunction waiting to happen. 🙂
Oversized or skinny pencil tip? Oversized, for easy smudging.
Liquid liner: wand or pen? Pen.
Pen tips: short and stiff, or long and flexible? Long and flexible.
Pencil or a twist up? Pencil.
What happens to you more: liner smudging along your lower lash line, or liner that transfers into your crease? Definitely lower lash line smudging.
Spend or splurge on your liner? Splurge, naturally.
Funny thing but I haven’t been wearing eyeliner for weeks and I’ve been good without it. My favorite eyeliner so far is the Chanel Waterproof stylo liners. My favorite shades are Blackwood and Espresso. Maybe in the Fall, I’ll go back to wearing them.
Be well!
Smudgy or crisp edge? At my age, slightly smudged is more flattering.
Edgy graphic eyeliner: yes or no? I love the look although I don’t wear it nowadays. Back in the late 50’s and throughout the 60’s I loved a very graphic black liner look.
Soft or stiff pencil liner? Soft, but one that sets then doesn’t budge.
Cake liner or cream liner? I came of age makeup wise with either liquid or cake eyeliner.
Matte or metallic? Matte
Eyeliner stickers or an eyeliner stamp? Heavens, no!
Oversized or skinny pencil tip? I like a skinny tip to apply and then I smudge it a bit with a brush.
Liquid liner: wand or pen? Pen. Tom Ford’s is the best of the best.
Pen tips: short and stiff, or long and flexible? The TF pen has both so it depends on the look I’m going for.
Pencil or a twist up? Twist up. I like Chanel’s and Sisley’s.
What happens to you more: liner smudging along your lower lash line, or liner that transfers into your crease? Neither
Spend or splurge on your liner? I’ve never shied away from spending on products that I deem workhorses. Because eyeliner is so basic to my look, I splurge like on the TF pen and Chanel or Sisley stylos. I never have any problems with drying out, flaking, smudging, etc. For me, it’s money well spent
Smudgy or crisp edge?smudgy – rock n roll baby.
Edgy graphic eyeliner: yes or no? Not that rock n roll.
Soft or stiff pencil liner? Soft.
Cake liner or cream liner? Neither.
Matte or metallic? Matte.
Eyeliner stickers or an eyeliner stamp? I’ll try some stickers, sparkly ones.
Oversized or skinny pencil tip? Skinny please.
Liquid liner: wand or pen? A nice felt tip pen.
Pen tips: short and stiff, or long and flexible? Stiffy!
Pencil or a twist up? Pencil.
What happens to you more: liner smudging along your lower lash line, or liner that transfers into your crease? My crease, especially on the right side.
Spend or splurge on your liner? I’ll splurge! See ya at Ulta!
Smudgy or crisp edge?
I love em both but usually crisp.
Edgy graphic eyeliner: yes or no?
Sure!
Soft or stiff pencil liner?
Soft.
Cake liner or cream liner?
Cream, definitely. Powders tend to make my eyes itch, even if you wet them.
Matte or metallic?
Man I love a shimmery liner (rest in power Chanel Khaki Précieux) but they so often make my eyes itch, so matte.
Eyeliner stickers or an eyeliner stamp?
Stamp, stickers seem like a bad idea.
Oversized or skinny pencil tip?
Skinny! More control.
Liquid liner: wand or pen?
Pen!
Pen tips: short and stiff, or long and flexible?
Long and flexible please! I hate stiff tip liner pens. I’m currently using the Still Micro Tip because it holds up better in summer but the Clinique one is my eternal favorite.
Pencil or a twist up?
Twist up!
What happens to you more: liner smudging along your lower lash line, or liner that transfers into your crease?
I don’t generally put liner on the bottom lashes and have hooded lids, so transfer.
Spend or splurge on your liner?
Splurge.
