A few months after Connor was born, I went to a lunch mixer with a local mother’s club, and as we were all going around introducing ourselves, one of the ladies said she recently had a baby, and that day was the first day in weeks she actually got dressed and combed her hair. She then said, “I even put on earrings,” and then she started crying, and oh my gosh, I totally understood what she felt at that moment in every cell of my body.
Sometimes it’s a heavy lift just to put on earrings. Or mascara. Or pants that are acceptable to wear in public, if I’m totally being honest.
But you do it, and you keep on keepin’ on.
Anywho, I thought about that woman today as I got ready for a video meeting. I ironed a shirt, did my hair and put on makeup for the first time in, oh, I don’t know how long.
I even put on earrings…

Is it a *lewk*? Nope. Is it edgy or particularly noteworthy? Um, probably not. But I did it. And it make me feel great during my video call.
After it was over, just for fun, I tried on a few lipsticks because it’s been ages.

Sending good thoughts your way. Happy Thursday to you!
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

All of those lipsticks look good on you, Karen! I especially like the Chanel Wild. I pulled out a MAC lipstick this morning I haven’t worn in a while because it wasn’t in the front of my lipstick rack (talk about habits and putting on the same thing everyday!). It was MAC Cosmo and it is seriously one of my favorites! The formula and color make my lips so good! Is it true that MAC doesn’t do their recycling program anymore, Back2Mac?
Thanks, Rachel! 🙂
BTW I love MAC Cosmo too. I haven’t worn it in a while… I need to bust it out ASAP.
Unfortunately MAC discontinued the program. You can still bring your empties in to be recycled, though. I know — such a bummer!
I laughed at your “When you put dark lipstick on for the first time in ages”🤣. I have so many dark lipsticks in my collection. I have made that same face many times when I have gone a length of time not wearing them. Right after we quit wearing masks and working from home…all lipstick looked so different. I kept asking my husband…”Do I look weird?”
Chanel 152 Sweetness looks beautiful on you! Glad to see you smiling through all the craziness life throws at us sometimes.
Thank you, Mandy. I can’t believe I used to wear dark lipstick every day in my 20s and early 30s! 😀 I still love them but I feel like I need to wear them with a lighter touch.
I hope life has been treating you kindly.
I agree with the first comment. You look great in all of them, but the Chanel is my favorite.
Haha that’s the same face I make when I put on actual lipstick instead of tinted lip balm. 😄 Love the pop A Little Tamed gives! There’s nothing quite like that feeling of getting back to yourself. ❤️
Even just a little makeup feels like full-on glam now, LOL! Hope you and your family are doing well, Trude. 🙂
