Have you heard the news, babes? It’s 2011! Happy New Year! It looks like we made it.
So, did you celebrate the pants off of 2010 last night? Come on, please don’t spare the details. 🙂 El Hub, Tabs and I actually rang it in with a whisper at home. I know, I know — boring. We had a glass of wine at a little place not far from here, and then shared a pizza (all of us but Tabs) at our favorite joint in San Rafael before getting home around 10. I think I may have even fallen asleep before midnight, but when the clock struck 12, I awoke to the booms and cracks of fireworks far off in the distance. I leaned over, kissed El Hub, and then fell back to sleep.
Today I think I owe the day to my hubby and Tabs, so I won’t be around very much. I couldn’t leave you hangin’ though. The start of a brand new year deserves to be celebrated with at least a little pomp and circumstance, am I right?

I’m feeling a bit melancholic because of the new year- 2010 has been a relatively good year to me, but then again I’m excited to see what 2011 has in store for me! I’ve become a better person overall, and I’m proud of it 🙂
My only wish for 2011 is that my application to further my studies in Singapore will go smoothly and successfully. I’m a bit worried about it- my grades are not the best although they are satisfactory, but I believe I will get the chance to go to Singapore for further studies 🙂 Fingers all crossed!

2010 Was an Amazing year for me . I got married and Hoping that the New year will bless us with a bundle of joy. Always gotta look fresh so If I won the $100 gift card I would definitely get the Urban Decay Naked Palette for starters because I have been after for over 5 months and wanted it for my wedding and I couldn’t get my hands on it lol!

My New Year’s Eve was very quiet too. We watched Toy Story 3 on DVD and then went to bed- but we did make it up until midnight! Hope you have a great new year.

In honor of the New Year, I tried a chai latte for the 1st time. I went store-bought with Tazo Chai Black Tea Latte. It’s pre-made; you just add milk and a small amount of sugar (optional). I used Equal to control the calories. :p
I am in HEAVEN. It is deliciously spicy with black pepper, cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, honey, cane sugar, vanilla, ginger, etc. Next week, I’m going to stop by Panera Bread and try their chai latte based on your recommendation.

My hubby had to work last night so I rung in the new year by myself. I had a little spa time at home – a facial and mani/pedi and then snacked and watched movies. I’m so optimistic for 2011, I think it’s going to be a big year for my husband and I!

I’m hoping 2011 will be much, much better for us than 2010 was. There was lots of craziness, stress, drama, moments where I though I’d reached my breaking point, but thankfully I survived it all (my 14 y/o was suddenly struck with a mysterious medical issue – to date she’s had over 100 seizures, been taken away in an ambulance over 30 times, spent her birthday unconscious and in an ER, and the doctors are baffled- see? it was really stressful!!).
I hope 2011 is a good year for everyone and for the economy. We spent our New Year’s Eve eating pizza and watching movies and I just barely made it to midnight but let me tell you, I conked out at about 12:01 am lol
i’ve been taking my naturally trim figure and doing no sort of fitness for too long. i’m putting on my running shoes and taking some time to myself that will up my endorphins and improve my health!
This year I will graduate with an Associate in Applied Science in Human Services/ Substance Abuse and will start working on my bachelors in Social Work:)

I spent my new year’s down with strep throat (and the accompanying lovely fever attached), so it was very low key. However, it was still a wonderful new year because I got to spend it with our new golden retriever puppy for the first time (and hopefully there will be many more after this one). I am so grateful to have her in our lives, because our Siberian kitten passed away on September 2, 2010 (from Feline Infectious Peritonitis). I miss her dearly (and seeing your pictures of Tabs always remind me of her), but our puppy has helped me accept her passing.
Happy New Year Karen! I had the most hilarious new years eve ever, we pretended go by eastern time when we’re central, since my little cousins were crying to spend the whole night w/ us. So we drank grape juice an hour early to make them happy and then they left. LOL cruel but funny.

We rang in the new year quietly sitting at home, making chocolate chip cookies, putting our two young kids to bed (let them stay up until midnight and then have meltdowns all day the next day? no thanks!) and watching Eclipse, which I still hadn’t seen. It was a good late night movie. I have to admit….I kind of HATE New Year’s Eve as a holiday. Always have, always will.
2010 was hard for me in so many ways. I grew from the challenges, but it’s not a year I’d want to repeat. I’m hoping 2011 will have more positive things in store.
Happy New Year! My new year makeup resolution/hope is to wear all the lipsticks I have – I have so many but only wear a few out of them. This year I wanna rock red lips! I think I’m a decent kisser, but not sure if I’d let my hubby kiss me when I have perfect red lippies on…

Last year: wow, lots of excitement. Started my own business and I am still up some nights worrying that nobody wants what I offer (translation). However, so far so good… It is just kind of nerve-wracking. I spent most of my life working at universities in research labs so going it on my own was frightening especially since I am disabled (arthritis) and worry about my physical condition. I love reading your blog because I get a lot of strength from your sense of humor and of course Tabs is kind of my long-distance crush. 🙂

I hope 2011 will not be as stressful as 2010 was for me (I think I’m asking for too much xD).
Thanksgiving I had to put my kitty to sleep, Christmas eve I was in a car wreck ( not my fault) and ended up with a broken arm and a totaled car, so I stayed in for new years. At midnight I kissed my other cat since my fiance is 13 hours away. I know 2011 will be better because I am moving to Florida!

My resolution this year is to definitely wear more lipstick. At a liberal arts school in the PNW, people don’t exactly glam it up every day and lipstick is such a high maintenance product that when I do wear it I always feel like a tool. But my resolution is to wear more of it because I love lipstick, I love the way it smells and feels and looks, and I’m throwing other peoples’ judgements to the wind. Including my boyfriend’s. I’m really happy about having discovered this blog in 2010, although I’ve never commented on any blog post until now. I’ve been exposed to so many different products that I wouldn’t have sought out on my own. I hope everyone here has a great 2011.
Plans for a Sephora gift card: Korres eyeliner, another bottle of the Korres white tea cleanser, and the Kat von D painted love lipstick set–I’m pale, but love a dark or dark blended lip and the colors look great. Or the Smashbox Master’s Class palette with another bottle of the Korres white tea cleanser. Nail polish purchases would round out any remaining balance from the hundred smackers.

So every year I spend New Years Eve with my mom and grandma and we toast in the new year when the ball drops. My grandma has poor mobility and can’t really get around. This year the city rules changed and we were allowed to do fireworks in the city limits. This year my grandma had her own fireworks show by looking out her window. It was a good New Years Eve, especially for her. 🙂 And that made my new years a good one.

This year will be one of major change for me professionally (and most likely geographically)…I have a couple of lazy months before my new job starts though so my biggest goal is to use the winter wisely to a) reach my physical goals b) catch up on my DVR c) strengthen friendships!
One of my resolutions is to spend less time in front of the t.v. and more time reading! I remember I used to find reading so rewarding, but somehow my hectic life has made me feel like I don’t have time for books, when in reality, I spend way too much time vegetating with t.v. shows! I had to work for 12 hours straight for NYE and it was so exhausting. it was at the Grand Hyatt in DC and people were dressed up and drinking. when midnight struck I was really missing the boyfriend and seriously about to cry. plus the love song that went “I’m so in looove” after the toast didn’t help at all.
2011 is my year to take care of ME. i’ll be 25, and have so many goals and ambitions. I want to go to beauty school, travel (since i’ve never been off the west coast! sad huh?) and just have a blast enjoying my mid 20’s. you’re only 25 once afterall 😉

Last year was awesome! I was reunited with the love of my life after 13 years, married him and moved to his country – Germany. The only other sad part (besides obviously missing friends and family) is that there is no Sephora here! I haven’t made it over to France yet so this would give me an excuse, hee hee.
A long-due new year goal for me is to not go under-appreciated. We do so much for our husbands, boyfriends, family, friends, etc. But sometimes it seems there is so much give and very little acknowledgement of the give.

Well 2010 wasn’t my best year, it started & ended with a big bang for me! I ended 2010 by going into the ER & staying overnight & started 2011 by laying in bed resting. All I wish for in 2011 is that nothing bad happens to me again because I know I’m missing out on a lot of fun stuff!

New Year’s Resolution (hmm…there are so many) – work on my Salsa dancing for the next 6 months, renovate my kitchen and make a small patio outside for some summertime fun!

At mightnight I was lying in bed, wearing my peacock-blue PJs and fuzzy blue socks (the ones that look like I’ve skinned a muppet), reading Terry Pratchett, surrounded by cats. Not a bad way to ring in the new year!!
In 2010 I built up my blog a lot more, got more than 3/4 of the way through wearing all of my eyeshadows at least once, and found more blogs to read. In 2011 I’m going to re-photograph all my stuff using my new camera, which takes MUCH better pictures. I’m also going to make new images for all of my eyeshadows that show more detail and more views. (I think I’m insane, creating all these projects for myself…!)

i think new year resolutions are overrated. I find that a change of digit in my yearly calendar maybe a good excuse to think up ways of self improvement but certainly not enough reason to follow through. so years ago i resolved to stop making new year’s resolutions and ironically its the only one that came true. and coz by no way do i think i’m perfect i make up resolutions on birthdays and the start of the semester instead.. on the side note living in a city with a firecracker ban sucks. certainly safer but still kinda sucks.

Hi Karen! It’s the first of January, woW! It feels like 2010 just FLEW by. I’m still trying to get those 2010 New Years resolutions done, it’s hard to think about this year. But they’re always the same anyway. This year, I plan on eating healthier and getting a lot more exercise in (I’m just not feelin’ the flab). But of course, I’m starting this new year the… well Flounder way! I start a new quarter at my college the 5th, so this Monday is my very first (and probably last for a long time to come) FLOUNDER DAY! YAY! In case you’re wondering, Flounder Day is the day you do absolutely nothing but watch movies and eat the food that makes you happy. You don’t do your hair, or change out of your pj’s and (GASP) you don’t do your makeup! It’s crazy, but it’s just what I need to bid farewell to my two month vacay from college work 😀 Well, hope you had a good first day of the new year!!

Happy New Year!! I am looking so forward to 2011. I just started a brand new job after being laid off all year in 2010. So good riddance 2010!! I am starting a new chapter in life this year. I have set a few small goals. One is to take more pictures, I’ve kinda gotten out of the habit. Another is to take more time for me. With a hubby, 3 kids, and a dog…I don’t have much me time. 🙂

2010 was a horrible year for me, and I will spare the details because it’s all about 2011 now. My plans are to take the reigns back in my life, and to trust myself. The giftcard would come in so handy to purchase the new boscia face mask, a deep conditioner, and a soothing shower gel from philosophy to take away the effects that last year had on my skin. My new year resolutions used to be the usual: be happy, lose weight. The last couple of years I made it a little more fun! My last year’s resolution was to cooke ONE dish better than my husband (he’s an awesome cook). While I didn’t actually accomplish this one (he’s too good!!), I ended up learning how to make several NEW dishes in the process! Now I can make noodles, summer rolls, fancy salads, etc.
This year, well… I’m planning to try parasailing and stand-up paddling. I want to start being more sustainable, and find create ways to save money. (Got a bread machine for xmas!) My husband and I have also been wanting to start a business together. Hopefully 2011 will be our year!
My goal for 2011 is to save! I’m living off student loans for the next year and a half and need to prepare myself for the debt I have accrued once I graduate.

When I walk into Sephora, I always want one of everything. I can walk into a Sephora when they first open, have a long list of chores to accomplish for the day but get so involved playing with all the make up, time stands still until all of a sudden I’m being rushed out of the store because it’s closing time, 10 hours later. It I had $100 to spend at Sephora, it would probably take me days to decide because there isn’t anything in the store that I can think of that I don’t want. But I would lean toward Shiseido and the YSL Limited Edition gorgeous pinkish metallic face powder. You can never go wrong with those 2 companies. Ah… 2010 has been interesting and I’m finally growing up 🙂 I learned a lot the last year, about myself. And now I’ve decided that I’m going to call it quits with all toxic relationships this year. Thankfully none are close – they are all people who call themselves my ‘friends’ but I’d rather not be acquainted with them at all because of how much venom they come with.
This comes with the realization that I do need to, and do really love myself. I’ve started being better about looking good. I’ve always been good about skincare thanks to my mom, but now I take the time to dress up a little to feel good 🙂 I’ve been on a make up buying binge lately! For the first time of my life!!
And I’m super happy about having discovered the perfect little, cozy and friendly sports cafe near us. I and hubby went there for our NYE – it was a stand up comedy routine featuring 7 regional comedians and there was a buffet and a glass of champagne included – the drinks were mostly regularly priced with some specials. It was such a nice NYE event for us. Laid back yet enjoyable. We’re definitely over the dance the night away scene. This was more our style 🙂

Just recently found your blog, I love how you refer to your cat as if its a person. I do the same with mine, its hilarious! I’m not really into the spontaneous resolutions (honestly, they never seem to stick longer than a month) but for the last few months I’ve been working hard to keep up with some personal goals and I’ve been doing really well (drink more water, exercise daily etc etc ……) But most recently I’ve been trying to improve my beauty routine and learn new techniques!! For New Years, I spent the night at a friends, sipping Cosmos and playing pool with his family and friends. When midnight rolled over, we went out to the balcony to watch the fireworks while we listened to the bell drop on NBC.

2010 was a very annoyingly miserable year, mostly because I did such an EXCELLENT job of feeling sorry for myself 🙁

No more comparing myself to others (i.e, about how two of my best girlfriends and my sister all got married this year while I’m pushing 30 and STILL single, about how one of my coworkers who makes less than me recently purchased a house AND a BMW (still haven’t figured out how she managed that), about how people are having babies left and right (while I’m pushing 30 and STILL single)…yada, yada, yada! But no more!!!!! 2011 will be a year of self-care (totally stole that from one of my yoga teachers) and appreciating myself for what I have right in front of me.

soo….everyone is talking about how focused they are gonna be every year and la-di-dah, but i think my goal is not to focus too much…live & enjoy the now &.not over analyze everything, set goals but not obsess over them. if there is something u want to do, get to it & it will lead to happiness but if u don’t get to it, ur probably not as interested as u thought & let it go.

Today, my friend Glendy and I spent about three and a half hours searching for the perfect lipstick. We went to Sephora, Macy’s cosmetic counters and Wal-Mart! I ended up getting Benefit’s lipstick in Good-To-Go. This lipstick is like my He-Man sword.
Also, yesterday was my birthday and I turned 30. My brother got up to scratched his butt or something and someone questioned him so his only answer to that was to make his God awful embarrassing toast to me and then proceeded to tell a story about how my mother killed a bee with her bare hands one time.

My 2010 saw me start an expensive beauty product obsession while recuperating from major surgery so 2011 is the year that I dial it down, spend less and create a beauty budget – this would help, if I won! The past two years have been especially rough for me; I lost my Dad to cancer in Sept 2010. He’d fought a good fight for the past 2 years but in the end, his body had had enough. To make it worse for me, he lived in BC and I live in WA so I didn’t see him as much as I wish I had been able to. I am hoping that 2011 is a better year and I am going to try yoga as well as tackle a bunch of knitting projects. I love makeup too and this year I’d like to break out of my ‘neutral’ rut!

I can’t believe it’s already a new year! My resolutions this year are to learn how to wear heels (my feet totally rebel against them) and to be more adventurous and try different sports activities. I also want to get better at cooking!!
