When was the last time you went dancing on New Year’s Eve? For me it was probably a few years ago at a bar/nightclub called Rafters in San Rafael. Rafters ended up shutting down a few months after that, and I’d never gone there any other time, but that New Year’s Eve was probably the most fun I’ve had in years.
The dance floor was packed with people of all ages (and mylar balloons with the words, “Happy New Year!”), and everyone was smiling, from the college kids with springy legs all the way up to shuffling couples in their seventies, rocking out to a great cover band that belted out the B-52s Love Shack, Huey Lewis’s The Heart of Rock & Roll and Stevie Wonder’s Superstition like nobody’s business, except for maybe Stevie’s himself.
It was one of those crowds where everyone was sober, or mostly sober, and there were no big egos dominating the dance floor. Just a tight-knit group of people all having fun and wishing everyone around them well.
Tonight I think El Hub and I will probably just go to dinner somewhere nearby, and then maybe try to find a place where we can park the car and watch a fireworks display. If we can find a spot along the Bay and it turns out to be a clear night, we might be able to watch the fireworks across the water in San Francisco.
That would be nice… 🙂

Will I be lucky this week?
Last year my best friend and I were in Cancun for New Years. Neither of us drink, so we were pretty much the only sober ones, but it was the best time. We danced to 80s music on a little dance floor, hung out on the dark beach, and listened to a bunch of drunken singers. It was great.
My fondest NYE was last year because it was the first one with our baby daughter!!! I’ll never forget it 🙂
Its been too long ago, but my sweets just bought two stagelights for one of the clubs he hosts an open mike for, so we already decided to turn them on for fun an dance in the kitchen: yeah! I am already wearing the most gaudy fake lashes evvah, so we’ll have a ball! Happy New Years!!!!

This New Years is very bittersweet for me. Though I’ve never done anything for it before, I’ll be spending it with my boyfriend. The only thing is, he is leaving to go back to school New Years Day, severall states, 500 miles away :c
in 2012 i want to stop swearing like a sailor because its not lady like and i want to continue losing weight…as of today i have lost 145 lbs in 2011 and 2012 will not slow me down. New year new me.

I was just talking about this with my hubby yesterday. Our best NYE was spent at Ocean City, MD at this awesome club/restaurant/bar called Seacrets – they spent millions on it to make it look like a jamaican hut that’s about to fall over. Sand on the floor, bunches of different rooms…
We were there with one other couple and spent most of the night listening to an awesome cover band and bouncing around on the dance floor, literally. This place has a springy dance floor, so even if you are standing still, other people’s dancing will make you bump around!
It was the best NYE because I didn’t have to worry about it not being fun because of the location and also because of the friends we were with, and I didn’t have to clean up afterwards 🙂

Well my New Year’s last year was definitely the best so far.
It was my last one in germany so of course I went out and got totally drunk before midnight, then my friends and I walked to the bridge on the river, popped bottles of champagne and watched the fireworks. There were hundreds of people crowded into this little space, all drinking and setting off bottle rockets, so it got a little dangerous at times.
It was still amazing though. I am going out tonight but I can’t drink very much so I don’t get busted for underage drinking in this country. >.<

My makeup highlight of 2011, is that sometimes wearing less is more. I’ve noticed that I looked prettier wearing just mascara, them wearing eyeshadow, eyeliner, bronzer, etc…

NYE is always spent with my family. We throw a party every year all my relatives & besties come over. We start the year off together-lots of fun 🙂
Yesterday was my birthday!
New Years is always a mixed bag for me memory-wise. My Bumpa died on 12-30, just before midnight. My grandma died 1-1, just after midnight and the day before her birthday. So I can least honestly say every year is memorable, whether for good or bad.
I’m excited to try a new makeup look for a NYE party I’m attending tonight. Still trying to think of something different and exciting!
Not quite sure what I’ll be doing tonight… I should probably figure that out! 🙂
My new year will be celebrated by drinking wine with my boyfriend and watching celebrations on television. While looking fab of course! 🙂

My fondest New Years memory was my first one with my husband, then boyfriend. We had just started dating a few weeks before and he invited me to go with him and his family to the mountains for vacation. The fireworks were beautiful as well as our kiss at midnight. 🙂

I don’t have too many memories of past NYE because I’m bipolar and I had ECT and that pretty much wiped my memory. But a NYE that I do remember Is ’99. I was home sick with the flu. I was living in la Jolla and I went to my parents’ in the bay area to rest. I was 25. What a way to bring in the new millennium.
One of my absolute favorite traditions every year is to go to the Cincinnati Pops New Years Eve concert with my parents. Dad always fills his pockets with chocolates, and the atmosphere is so festive. And it’s early enough that we can split for whatever party or bar we choose afterwards without missing anything.
2012 is the year I get MARRIED!!! ^_^
Did the whole Times Square thing one year in college. Was a fabulous party.
I want this year to be better than 2011. Need to finish my degree and start working. Want my parents to work like until now but with more money, want my boyfriend to find a job and everyone around my to be ok.

I love the look of a bright lipstick on a big night out – like NYE – but I cant stand having to touch it up all the time. I was going to wear a bright, loud pink – but now I’m liking a natural color might just be easier.

For 2012, I would like to get on track with my eating habits and fitness routine. I would like to make myself more of a priority this year and really begin to take care of myself. When I lived with my parents, we would watch the old Star Wars trilogy every NYE before the ball dropped.

For the new year I really want to accomplish something that will not only make me proud and happy but it will make my loved ones proud and happy for me too.
The last time I went dancing my friend dragged me there, I consider myself having to left feet. I spent almost two hours just trying to find the right dress even still I felt uncomfortable. When we got to the club I realized that my friend had tried to set me up. At first I was the third wheel watching her and this guy flirt. I tried to ignore it and have fun. The guy feeling bad made his brother dance with me. Mid song I told him I could no longer dance with him for I have a 3 year relationship. This night made me never want to dance again!
My best New Year’s Eve is spending it with my children talking, playing games, and watching Dick Clark for the ball to drop.
I’ll be spending this New Year’s Eve 9 months pregnant so no partying for me!
I have not ever had a memorable or kickass nye! it’s my least fave day of the year. winning this would make it so much better!!

My 2012 goals are straightforward but challenging:
1. Finish out college with strong grades
2. Get a job
3. Fix my IT band problems so I can run again. Running is one of my one true loves, and I’ve had to give it up ever due to not immediately fixing my IT band syndrome. I really miss it at this point, so I’m actually going to recover this time (and get back into shape in the process!).
I want to close the year by watching Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, the book was great and I can’t wait to watch the movie
NYE will be at my parents’. Super excited!
Best New Years ever…1994 (showing my age here) I had just lost my job and had a ton of free time on my hands. A friend had tickets to see Dave Matthews (pre-fame) in Richmond VA. He knew I was a big follower of Dave (every Thursday night at Trax in C’ville baybee!) so he asked me to go with him. We had dinner in C’ville and then traveled to Richmond for the show. We stood behind the stage and danced the night away. When the show was over we were invited up to the band’s suite of rooms for more fun and drink. What a night. True story, I swear!

as a kid- we always went out for a nice dinner on NYE and returned home in time for “new york new years” that’s 9 pm here in california. i would kiss my dad- wish him happy new year and as i got older then head out with my friends. life was so gloriously simple then.

When my four kids were growing up, I would make several appetizers and a special desert. We would watch TV, listen to music, play board games until the New Year arrived. It was a lovely evening at home and we were all safe an sound. Happy New Year!
NYE is always spent with my family. This year I will be hosting the party at my house, which is great. I get to ring in the new year with the people that matter most to me in the world =).

It seems like I’m sick every year around NYE. This year I’ve got what I suspect might be a double ear infection–and I’ve never had an ear infection in my entire life! Fun times.
It has been a very stressful month for me. Moving has been so frustrating for me. Hopefully, 2012 will be a better year for me.
NYE has always been a bit of a letdown for me, to be honest. Then I decided to lower my unreasonable expectattions and voila! a special evening filled with peace and quiet and good food.

OMG! My husband and son are cleaning out the attic today. They found a time capsule from 1999/2000, the year we hosted a Y2K NYE neighborhood party. What an eclectic group! That night I learned that the world did not come to an end, fabric paint on plastic New Year top hats is NOT a smart choice for children’s crafts, and I have been blessed with The Best Neighbors!
We haven’t opened it yet. Waiting to tell the neighbors so they can be here to open it with us. Emailing two families who have moved out of the neighborhood. All I remember was each family took a polaroid picture and answered some questions. I don’t even remember the questions I asked. haha I’m so excited to see what we put inside it!
My beauty highlight was finally putting blue, green, and purple streaks in the under layers of my hair!
My favorite NYE memory is from the year I started dating my husband. We had a big party with all of our good friends, and it was just a fun, low-key evening with my favorite people. Tonight, 10 years later, we will almost certainly celebrate with Dr. Who and some Prosecco before falling asleep long before midnight. Young children will do that to you!
Last year on the way to a NYE party there was a tornado on the way and we were rerouted to go home because there were trees down everywhere, power lines down and roads closed. All dresssed up and nowhere to go…
The best New Year I have ever had was 3 years ago. All my family came over and we had a bonfire. I love spending time with my family, so that New Year was really fun. Happy New Year!

Not a big NYE person. It’s usually cold and possibly snowy here on NYE, so I prefer to bundle up on the couch for a night in.

I think my favorite nye was when I went to Vegas. won’t do it again, but it was really fun!!
My most fondest memory of NYE was in 2002. It was a get together at my uncles house. All our closest family was there. Had a delicious dinner, we all took turns on the karaoke, told a million stories & danced the night away. That was the last year our family was complete. My uncle passed away in May of 2003 & my grandpa died of Alzeihmers in November. One of my most fondest memories in general. Today is a bittersweet day :’)

new years eve 2010. i had just landed in san diego that day (i live in mass so it was my first time vacationing away from snow!) and spent my first night in california breathing in clear air, looking at a HUGE full moon, and feeling so lucky to have finally found out where my true home is. i spent a lovely night drinking wine with a few friends, safe inside, playing with an adorable lil puppydog, and when i woke up the next morning i sat outside basking in the sun and then we went to a pool and then to a beach in encinitas where i discovered the water is warmer in cali in the winter than it is in the summer here in new england! no huge parties, drunk people, or loud music. it was the best new years ive ever had <3

I don’t usually celebrate NYE too often, as I fall asleep before it hits midnight, so I’m not sure my fondest memory, but last year was a crazy fun NYE! I was in Tokyo, Japan, and there were crowds of people everywhere! Especially in Roppongi (where a lot of foreigners are). It was a fight to walk to the subway station since we wanted to go to Tokyo Tower next, but sadly while we got to the subway platform (700 ft underground) at 11:55, the next train was at 12:03. So I spent midnight with my friends way underground! It was still a super fun night though, since we went to all the shrines and I was able to party with my friends until 5am! My best NYE was last year when my fiance got back from being deployed and was able to spend the holidays with me and our son. It was our first NYE spent together as family and not over Skype! It meant a lot, he missed three years of our son growing up. It just made going into the new year even better having ALL of my little family together. I’ll never forget it.

We’re having a small group of friends over for NYE.

When my husband and I were first dating, he use to organize a group of 30 friends and we would spend New Years Eve doing Extreme Bowling. That use to be so much fun and it was always a Dry party!

Actually the last time that I went dancing was on New Year’s eve, about six years ago. I wore jeans, heels and a little black silk top. Also a top hat.

Honestly, after all of the crap that happened to us in 2011 (husband losing his job & being unemployed for 5 months, having to pack up and move to a new town when he finally got a new job, settling in here… etc) I would just like 2012 to be as uneventful as possible!

NYE about 5 years ago my best friend and I were driving around Seattle trying to meet up with a few friends. We got all kinds of turned around and as the clock struck 12 we ended up stuck in traffic in the car together watching the fireworks from behind all the downtown buildings. I remember being pretty bummed at the time, but now that he’s passed it’s one of the memories I hold dearest to me 🙂

Every year me and my family have a little bit of champagne at midnight. One year, when I was like 7, it was my first time ever tasting it, and I had a spit take. I yelled it tasted like rust. It was hilarious.

I think the biggest lesson I learned in 2011 (beauty-wise) was the art of “less is more”. I toned down my everyday makeup look-going from applying 3 1/2 pumps of foundation to 1, learned to apply with my hands (which surprisingly, I had never thought to do before because I didn’t like the idea of touching my face that much-but it really helps the foundation melt into your skin!), don’t apply a heavy, dark eye during the day anymore and just stick with a sheer wash of darker color or neutral browns, golds, and greens, and no more lining the bottom lashline during the day!! Happy New Year Karen and family! My most memorable NY Eve celebration was last year. My husband and I had a six course meal at Tujague’s Restaurant (New Orleans) with my in-laws. After our sumptuous dinner, we went and visit a friend’s house at the French Quarter where we have cocktails while watching the show in front of Jackson Square and waited for the great fireworks display over the Mississippi River. 🙂
Ahhhhh…I’d love to say that I have awsome plans tonight but lol I’m so flipping tired!! I’m ready for bed lol…

I remember Y2K when everyone was worried the computers would go haywire at the strike of midnight. I stayed in and watched my favorite newscaster, Peter Jennings, broadcast for 24 continuous hours that day.

I always enjoyed make up but didn’t buy much for myself. However, in August of 2011 I became so in love with it all of the sudden, now I want to buy so many items. Happy New Year!
I don’t know if I have a fondest new year’s eve memory… I will say that my funniest one was 2008, when I lived in Rochester, NY. I went to one of those silly hotel ballroom parties with a friend and her husband, and it was a good time – decent snack buffet, fun cover band, kind of like your story. And when it was time to go home for the night… I managed to get my car stuck in the snow on the roof of a parking garage. I tried to push myself out for about 30 seconds (in open-toed slingback shoes, in a foot of snow!) before climbing back in the car and calling my friend to send her husband to rescue me.
I always watch Dick Clark on New Year’s.

Happy New Year Karen! My fondest NYE memory would be of NYE 2005. My friends and I were in Vegas partying at Rain (when it was still cool) and about 5 minutes after the countdown the power went out in the entire club and NEVER came back on! Boooo! It was still a fun NYE spent with friends though!

I fell in love with makeup in July of this year. I’ve been wearing makeup for like 10 years but the same 5 things that all fit in this tiny stupid makeup bag I have. Now I have an incredible collection and have learned so much about makeup and I am so excited for 2012’s beauty finds! New Year’s Eve in 2009 (I think) my brother and sister-in-law had a bunch of folks over to their apartment. I met a bunch of fun people, got to spend time with fun people I already knew, and we had a nice big bonfire in their back yard and toasted in 2010. It was lovely! This year, things are much more boring – my boyfriend’s out of town visiting his folks, so 2012 is coming in with me and my cat and Vampire Diaries. Woo!

My fondest memory of New Year’s Eve would be the year my sweet husband proposed to me in New Orleans along the Riverwalk behind Jackson Brewery right after midnight, 1993. It was extremely special and despite having rung in the new year with around 100,000 of our closest friends, LOL, it was a very intimate experience, as we somehow managed to leave the crowds behind. He dropped to one knee next to the moonlit Mighty Mississippi and proposed (after dating for 6 years!) At the time, it felt like we were the only two people in that beautiful, historic city. New Orleans will always be a very special place to us. 🙂
New year’s that stands out is when I did first night in the city- it was frigid but fun.

2011 is the first year I even thought about make-up, LOL! I started with eyeshadows and slowly, but obsessively filled up a MAC 15 eyeshadow palette. I spent many hours researching the colors, their pigmentation, texture, blendability, fallout, longevity, ect. In order to do this I looked at hundreds of swatches, eye looks, tutorials, as well as testing the colors at the store. My coloring wasn’t the easiest to figure out- I’m a natural blonde with brown eyes, fair skin with a warm to neutral tone. These are the MAC colors I ended up with: Vanilla, Blanc Type, Dazzlelight, Jest, All that Glitters, Soft Brown, Wedge, Patina, Coquette, Club, Haux, Swiss Chocolate, Sable, Handwritten and Copperplate. Anyway, this is how I found this site;) Thanks, it’s been so much fun!
In 2012 I plan on saving up enough money for two plane tickets to somewhere warm so that next new years eve I will be at the beach!!

My parents called me to remind me to put change in the window sills tonight. It’s supposed to signify that money will come into your home in the new year. Ah, Filipino New Years supertitions. Gotta luv ’em.
Took my dog into the emergency vet’s tonight to get his rear taken care of. Good news is, it didn’t explode. Bad news is, it was getting ready to. Clearly we need a standing appointment with the vet every few months, but with Christmas gift money from family, at least the visit was within our means (this time).
Well, you DID say anything at all 🙂 He’s now doped up beside my desk, only vaguely interested in the sounds of neighborhood fireworks. Just this year, fireworks have become legal to use in a private basis and the state is ecstatic.

My fondest NYE is one that I spent with family at a few close family friends several years ago. We were at my aunt’s house just snacking and hanging out. It was low key but I was surrounded by the most important people in my life and we had a great time.
My New Year’s are pretty boring. Most often I spend them at home, with only myself to celebrate the coming of a new year. Last year, my then boyfriend and I went to a party at his friends. As simple as it seems, it was pretty marvelous when midnight struck and I finally got that new year’s kiss.
2011 Beauty Highlight: Learning how to apply my Bare Escentuals correctly. Who’d have thought it was so picky? But once I got it down, my skin looks awesome! Also, a new skincare routine.
All in all, I learned that your skin is what makes the biggest difference in your overall beauty, so taking care of it and wearing proper makeup is super important.

I spent last night with my special needs brother while my parents rang in the New Year together for the first time since 1995. We had a girls’ night in NYE party….with disney princess movies, tons of cupcakes and desserts, pink champagne, and lush face masks on our face!

Happy New Year’s! My makeup highlight for 2011 was when the woman who does my eyebrows every month or so, and who is a real makeup expert, said “wow! love the makeup!” when I came in for an appointment a few months ago. I thought: “maybe I’m doing it right after all! what a relief!”

don’t know about a favorite New Year, but I have a favorite tradition from my husbands family. You take a coin and put it outside of all of the doors of your house on New Years Eve and keep it hidden like under a door mat. on new years day, before anyone crosses the threshold of your house you must bring in the coins and tape it over that door, it means that all year money will come into to your house. hubby’s aunt and uncle had a coin fall off of their door one year and that was the year that they went bankrupt so the family is very superstitious about this one.

I wnet to casion with my husband on the new year eve, and we won $200. I think its a graet beginning for 2012. Its our first time at the casion in the U.S. We just came here 3 months ago. I hope we enjoy American life!
I spent this New Year’s Eve chilling in a hotel room with my goofy boyfriend. Even though we were both a little sick and stressing about things coming up in the new year, it’ll still be my fondest NYE memory so far because I was with him 🙂

I had known my husband for a few weeks, but on New Year’s Eve we spent most of the night hanging out, joking around, and having a blast together, like we were the only two people at the party. We started dating a week later and have been together eight years!

This was my best NYE yet! I spent it in NYC with my sister, my cousin and some friends, we had some drinks and got some really good pizza. Great way to start 2012!
