Happy St. Patrick’s! — wait, that was last week. But doesn’t it feel like it was just St. Patrick’s Day? WOW! This week went by quickly. I could have sworn we were just talking about fish & chips.
Not there’s a right or wrong time to talk about fried food. Matter of fact, I’d say it’s an underused topic of conversation.
Anywho! I’m doing my best to rise and shine over here, but Mother Nature isn’t cooperating. There’s a light, annoying drizzle outside, like the kind where you just wish it would either unload and start pouring, because at least that would do the plants some good, or stop altogether so the sun can come out.

Which reminds me. Sometimes he’s such a grouch! It’s adorable when he makes his little angry old man face with his whiskers turned down. That’s the face he makes when I take him out for a walk after a rain and the ground is still wet. On the one hand, he loves being outside; on the other, he hates getting his paws wet.
It’s so cute! After he steps in a puddle, he’ll raise his little paw like he stepped on a thorn, and look up at me and mewl as if to say, “This is bullsh*t, Mom.”
I swear he thinks I’m responsible for the weather. When it rains, he’d probably fire me if he could.

I always used to get caught in the rain when I ran track we used to joke that they never cancelled practice or a meet until there was a tornado about to blow past the track , one time it was thunder storming pretty badly and they didn’t tell us to go inside until the rain was so heavy that you couldn’t hear the start gun. Being soaked to the bone while wearing skimpy tanktops and shorts was never any fun. And I think four cats is too many cats

I went snorkeling once in the middle of the ocean and it scared the crap out of me. I learned that I do not like open water.
Here in Vancouver we can get all four seasons in one day so getting caught in the rain (or other forms of precipitation) is a regular event. I once boarded a bus in the sunshine, got off 20 minutes later under a cloudy sky, and immediately it started raining then HAILING. Five minutes later I arrived at my front door and the hail suddenly stopped. Yep.
The last time I was caught in the rain was in Punta Cana at a resort. It was so fun!!! I love swimming in the rain. 🙂
Running in the rain can be fun, especially if it’s warm out. However, getting caught in a hail storm is less than fun.

It’s raining here today and my entire family has decided to take a nap….that is, everyone but the two-year old who probably needs it the most!
I can’t believe how long we’ve had warm weather in NY. I worry it won’t last and we’ll still get a surprise cold snap, but for now I’m enjoying every minute of it.
My favorite memories are the births of my son who is now 2 1/2 and my daughter who is now 15 months. Also, the day my husband and I got married almost 10 years ago is also one of my favorite memories.

It’s a little rainy here today and I wish it wasn’t… cause I built myself a smoker! You know, like a ceramic thing to barbecue meat? Yep, I made one. There was an episode of Good Eats where Alton Brown makes one, and that’s where I got the inspiration. It was a lot harder to find all the right parts than he made it seem, but I did it. Can’t wait to use it! Ahh, so excited!

Well, I just got back from an MRI on my neck. I was super anxious but it was bad at all. They even piped in some relaxing spa music through my headphones. Between the spa music and my eyes closed (and a xanax to help me relax) I seriously felt like I was at a spa with construction going on outside. Now off to donate stuff to Goodwill that I’ve been meaning to drop off. Have a great day all!
One of the worse times to get caught in the rain is when you are carrying your laptop in a non waterproof bag around campus. I hate it when that happens.

I remember getting caught in the rain right after having a Math midterm/final. :3 It was sort of light at first so I figured “Oh, I’ll just walk home, it shouldn’t be too bad right?” and then it started pouring…and then it started hailing. XD By the time I got back to my dorm, I was completely drenched! I was able to fill a small bucket with the water wrung from my clothes. X3

happy saturday! I was inspired by your description of your perfect lazy Sunday last week. Spent an hour doing my make-up this morning for no reason at all.
My last adventure was this morning 🙂 Trying to organize 10 4-5 year olds to take a team picture and wait patiently for their name to be called. Oh and they were also wearing white baseball pants. Let’s say mission accomplished and Spray N Wash is a must!
I got caught in the rain just the other day!
My last adventure was going to Portland, Oregon, to do their marathon. Running all over those steam punk bridges was just awesome. The last time I was caught in the rain I was doing a training run for said marathon, and it was a freak LA storm with lightning happening on both sides of me, one block distance. Scaaary. But I adore rainy weather!

Never been snorkeling but I so want to, and skydiving and bungee jumping. All on the bucket list. Hmm.. I think 9 cats is to many cats, unless you’re breeding or you just have one of every type of cat or you just love cats and they have kittens. Oh what the hay! You can never have too many cats! (:

I’ve been snorkeling a couple times, even though I’m scared to death of fish! My favorite was a sunken German boat outside of Aruba. Fish everywhere!

I can’t remember the last time I had a grand adventure (unless going to Kohl’s counts hehe)…but I’ll be going to Yosemite National Park in April! It’s definitely going to be an adventure, I just hope not to get eaten by a bear whilst camping =) And I think two cats is more than enough for me!
Tonight is my relax night— going out to get ramen + boba and then coming back to watch all the shows I didn’t get to this past week! 🙂

Too many cats = when you cannot properly care for each and every one of them, and not just financially. I currently have 7 (which I KNOW is a lot; I didn’t intend to but I took in two families of strays over the years) and while I love each of them to death, I find there are 3 I don’t pay much attention to at all because the others are quite in my face. I have to make an effort to give them all tons of love. My cats are all quite loving and not at all aloof, so it makes it hard to give each of them the attention and time they deserve. I will never have this many again once they have passed.

You reminded me of a funny story! I left the US for the first time ever on a cruise – our first stop was Haiti! Yup – US to Haiti. It’s incredibly beautiful! Anyway, I was on a catamaran with my boyfriend at the time and his family, ready to snorkel away. I strapped on my snorkel gear, and little did I know, breathing through that tube would cause me SO MUCH anxiety! The catamaran drivers explained to us that if we were bitten by any sea creatures they’d have to pee on our skin to kill the poison! Doesn’t sound like my idea of a good time… So I got into the water and FREAKED! I totally cried like a baby and got back onto the catamaran, and had three of the complementary rum punches. Hey, sitting on a little boat in the Haitian sea ain’t nothing to complain about! But you won’t see me trying to snorkel again any time soon :P. See ya Karen & Tabs!

I totally went to the mall with a friend today because it was raining. We had a blast testing makeup at Sephora!
I am wondering about all these “non-asian-market” BB creams coming out, Dior has one, Garnier too and L’Oreal of course, and there are more…is this just a new gimmick and another take on the tinted moisturizer route.
The worst time I got caught in the rain was when I had my first daughter 7 years ago. We had to take her in for her 2 week check up and it rained SO HARD that year, that we ended getting stuck in a flooded street. It was horrible. I was hysterical because as my husband drove you could just see the water getting higher and higher. Luckily my husband managed to get out and we had to reschedule her appt.
I’ve gotten some Bite Beauty lipsticks. I swear they moisturize my lips. Barolo has become my staple, by itself or over other lip colors.
Hi Karen, my latest ‘adventure’ was a trip to Miami last Fall. I say ‘adventure’ because I am petrified of lizards and no one told me they run that town! They were everywhere but I managed to survive (and will probably never go back, ha-ha).

We have two gorgeous cats, Katy (a 5 year old black cat with green eyes) and Charlie (a 3 year old ginger cat, with stripy legs and a cream end to his tail). They have such different personalities, and keep us amused the whole time – Katy, the lazy laidback type, Charlie the anxious cheeky one. We all love hearing about Tabs!!

I have been in search of a good mascara for a year now. Nothing seems to work. I need a mascara that will keep the curl and thicken my sparse lashes without costing an arm and a leg. It shouldn’t clump or flake, either. Is that too much to ask?? Any recommendations?

My personal limit would be three. Any more than that and I’d definitely feel like I had too many. That being said, sometimes my two cats feel like one too many! 🙂
The last time I got caught in the rain was after a History class I’m taking got out a few weeks ago. I hurried outside to run to my car (as it was already drizzling) and suddenly, the clouds just unloaded on me. It was seriously raining like a shower had turned on–and worst thing was it was also super windy, so even though I kept trying to cover my head, it was blowing straight into my face as well. I was positively soaked through by the time I reached my car, like I had taken a dip in the pool fully clothed 🙂
Too much rain in Texas lately! I’d rather talk about makeup……and all the money I just spent at Sephora! The gift certificate would be wonderful!! I bought some of the Pantone lipglosses and eyeliners at Sephora and from what I’ve used so far (couldn’t wait to try it when I got home!) it is awesome. The glosses (4 for $20!) are fab and the eye liners are stay on colors. I decided to use the orange one for my lips, because it’s no no on the eyes. How many cats is too many? There’s never too many! OK, well, obviously if their welfare is impacted and you can’t take care of them properly… but one of my dreams is to own a cat ranch. Won’t happen though as my husband is allergic, but it’s still a dream!
I like the rain but only when it’s convenient for me.. lol. 🙂
The last time I got caught (really caught) in the rain was with my mother. We went to eat at an italian restaurant after I’d walked in on my brand new EX boyfriend eating dinner with his new woman. I was devastated, but after a good cry, glass of Italian wine, the comfort only mom can give, and a good dose of unavoidable fresh rain on the way home, the pain of seeing him with someone else began to melt away from me, and I was able officially move on. It was as if mother nature was crying with me, but also laughing and encouraging me to run through the rain and let it wash away the pain of the past so that I could have a clean start for the future 🙂 I wouldn’t have been able to get through that moment without my mom, and it will forever be one of my most powerful and cherished memories of us together.
I’m not that great at putting makeup on myself so someone else would have to be pretty brave to let me put makeup on them.
Every time I attempt to apply makeup on someone else I get the giggles. I have no idea why, my friends ask me to do their eyeliner but I can’t because I starting laughing! I think its a nerves thing. I never laugh when I’m doing my own makeup, it’s really strange.
It’s storming like crazy outside today! North Carolina weather changes so quickly! it was sunny and beautiful yesterday, now we are having tornado watches!

Haha… Enzo does the same thing as Tabs when his dainty little feet get wet. He looks like he’s trying to figure out how to get all four paws off the ground at the same time. Luckily (?) it doesn’t rain much here.

Haha that reminds me of my prom 4 years ago! There was a tornado warning and instead of being bored in the basement of the gym, we just left and caught out in the storm! So our makeup, hair, and dress were all soaked. At least we got pics before!
My father just passed away and todays actually his birthday…I bought some new makeup at sephora this week to try and cheer myself up… what an emotional roller coaster this has been 🙁
I really do not like rainy weather, I don’t like having to carry umbrellas in crowded city streets.

I spent the afternoon at the mall – I must be getting old, I’m tired of spending money!
We have two cats. I think 3 (or maybe 4…) would be the ideal number, but I was lucky to sneak two in here! One is terribly anti-social and a bit of a computer nerd, and the other has some “special needs.” Tess cannot jump, so she climbs instead (up curtains, bed spreads, human legs…). My husband had to set up a decoy keyboard for Callie to keep her from trying to type while he is working. She knows more keyboard shortcuts than I do!
Since I’ve been depending on public transportation/walking the past six years, I tend to get caught in the rain a lot. My biggest problem is that the more portable umbrellas tend to break very easily, and my bubble umbrella (which is a must due to the wind) is a little annoying to tote around.
It’s been raining all day, but not hard. Got a hair trim today and did some grocery shopping, will be making cookies soon. It’s pretty cold here – brrr!
I hav 3 kitties – one is a foter cat that we wil keep – she’s a tabby, too! Chubby little thing, but she is so squeezable!

Winter rain is no fun! But it does not rain in CA like it does in the midwest. One day I was at Target got out of the car and it began pouring. Like people dropping buckets of water on you. Even though I ran I was still soaked! But nothing beats a spring thunderstorm! Thunder and lightening Oh my!

I have never been snorkeling
At first I only intended to read the 1st Hunger Games book last weekend before the movie came out (my whole family has read them) but ended up reading all 3 books! I cried so hard with Buttercup and Katniss at the end of Mockingjay… team buttercup.
Anything over 5 is too many cats. I know because when my mom comes to visit, we collectively have 5 cats in the house. Even then it gets hectic.
I can’t wait to get my hands on the new Too Faced Summer Eyes Palette!!

Once upon a time I would have told you that you could never have too many cats. However, at one point about 15 years ago I was living in a place where there was no rescue and the only shelter was a kill shelter. People would transfer back to the states and leave their pets behind and I just couldn’t let them starve or get eaten and ended up with eleven cats. Yeesh, that was way too many. Even so, I wouldn’t change a thing. They would still all come back with me. All have since passed on, the last one 1 1/2 years ago of a series of strokes. Good kitties, but together they made for a hella litterbox cleaning chore.

I was in and out of the rain all day today. blah! Yep, I’ve been snorkeling. My last grand adventure was too long ago. I’m ready for another. 3 cats is too many. I had 2 and it was perfect. I got the third and upset the apple cart. My most cherished memories are when we adopted both of my kids.
I was a makeup artist in a former life, so I’ve applied makeup to lots of folks.

Hi Karen! I’m an avid Hunger Games fan and I went to see the movie last night. Did you find that they left out a lot of explaining? I got it all because I had read the book but I’m wondering what people thought if they hadn’t read the book before hand..
I don’t drive, so I’ve gotten caught in the rain a lot. It happened all the time when I lived in Buffalo, NY and you couldn’t use an umbrella most of the time because of all the wind. I got pretty used to it, so I kind of like walking in the rain these days, as long as there’s no thunder & lightning.

@ my office we have a tradition of not applying makeup before reaching the office but once all four of us arrive at the office, we use the restroom as our private makeup room and spent abt an hour gossiping, putting on makeup and More Gossip!! I’ve only ever been caught in the rain once and that was in college. It was as if an ocean decided to rain down on me as I was crossing the quad. The downpour seriously came out of nowhere and disappeared just as quickly but not before my clothes, socks and sneakers were completely soaked. It was the wettest I’ve ever been in my life. I remember getting back to my dorm and wringing out my clothes and hair.
Now I never leave the house without an umbrella.

My last great adventure was just today! My boyfriend and I went hunting for weird Roadside America attractions in New Jersey – we found a giant Wonder Woman statue selling mufflers.

I once saw an incredible little circus in Spain with trained cats – they would all come out and sit on their own little seats and do crazy tricks when called upon – trapezes and tight ropes and such. But because they were still cats, every so often one would get sulky and just walk out. Back to their dressing room I presume!

I get caught in the rain all the time because I hate driving in the rain (had a bad accident years ago). I don’t think I have too many cats and think that as long as each cat is getting enough attention, and you’re able to keep up with the cost of cats (food, vet bills, etc.), and your house doesn’t smell like you have a lot of cats, then you don’t have too many cats 😉
I love applying makeup on other people!! but I do find it a lot harder than doing my own, especially eyeliner!
I got caught in the rain once with my fiancee…we had only been dating 3 or 4 months and decided to spend a long weekend in Mobile Bay (we are from Birmingham, AL).. It actually rained so hard the entire time we were there that you could hardly drive because the streets were soo flooded. But the first night we were there we went out on this long pier and it started pouring rain..we couldnt see to make it back to the car, so we just huddled up under an awning..soooo romantic!

This is really random, but… Have you seen the new Chanel Les 4 Ombres Quadra Eye Shadow in Eclosion? It is SO prettyyy!! I’ve never ever bought anything from Chanel, makeup or otherwise, but I knew I had to have this even before I saw how gorgeous the colors looked on fair skin.. I have been caught in the rain; it was fantastic! I was on vacation with my BFF and we were lost, trying to find our hotel, when it started pouring. We were soaked and freezing, but it was a great time.
