Late start today! Very late start. Right after I crawled out of bed, I came downstairs and tried to figure out a tech thing that I’ve been thinking about, using a camcorder as a web camera for Skype. I had some, I don’t know, fancy idea involving a tripod and a camcorder and — anyway, I couldn’t get it to work.
Yep, nothing eats up the hours like little tech projects. C’est la vie, I guess. Such is life in 2012.
Anywho, it’s good to finally talk to you. I hope you had a nice Friday night. I was so pooped that I turned in around 10, just totally wiped out from my trip down to Southern California, but I feel like a new woman today. 🙂

I still have my first high end makeup purchase from about 15 years ago, my tube of Elizabeth Arden Hologlam lipstick! Strangely it still appears to be fine LOL It was way too scented and just awful on me to use very much of it.

I can use either a Mac or a PC, but I tend to prefer PCs (if only because of the price point).
My favorite magazine is a much harder question :). I enjoy “The New Yorker,” but I finally gave it up because I didn’t have time to read it each week (and I felt guilty for buying it when I didn’t read it cover to cover). Right now, my favorites include “Mental Floss,” “The Atlantic,” “Real Simple,” and “Allure.”

i hate getting rid of make up that i don’t have a replacement for, so yeah i do keep stale make up especially if it’s like a luxe brand. when my YSL mascara got old, i washed out the tube and keep it and haven’t bought another YSL since, they’re pricy!

Wait, is white eyeshadow all of the sudden verboten? Do we no longer use white eyeshadow? I really like them! It opens up my eyes, wakes me up, and makes lighter-colored eyeliners (lighter purples, say, or medium blues or lighter browns) look more dramatic than they actually are.

The best movie I’ve seen in a while was Pitch Perfect, which I watched last night. I’ve gotta say, I was pleasantly surprised by it. I was expecting something cheesy but still fun, and it was actually really smart and entertaining. It had a good story, good characters and I really enjoyed some of the humor. Totally recommend it 🙂

I knew that OCC Lip Tars were coming to Sephora, but I was a little skeptical in thinking that they wouldn’t come to Canada right away (we tend to get things later), but I was pleasantly surprised and found one yesterday! Today I went to CVS for the Wet n Wild bogofree sale, and scored two blushes: Mellow Wine and Pearlescent Pink, they are far better pigmented than the Milani blushes, so worth it.

Definitely a PC – all my colleagues swear by Macs, but then when something goes wrong they just have to get a whole new one, whereas I can just grab a cheap spare part for mine and fix it myself!
I saw Looper on Wednesday and thought it was great – Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Emily Blunt were fantastic, and the plot was very well done.
Finally got ahold of the Becca Moonstone perfector. Very nice, though maybe even TOO luminizing. Haven’t gotten my application down pat yet. 🙂

I never thought I’d go on a beauty website since I always considered myself a rather self-sufficient connoisseur in terms of what’s good and what’s bad for my face/body/mind. But the more I mature, the more I enjoy making use of this sense of social community whereby we all seem to take pride in what makes us so special: our femininity.
At the moment rather steady and composed in terms of make-up, would not mind exploring the utterly feminine side of beauty (red lipstick, vamp cat look, bold nail polish colours etc) – without bordering on vulgar, since that would be fatal for my career.
Doing a serious smoky cat eye today – I am totally amazed that this gel eyeliner has not given me raccoon eyes! Small victories 😀

I’m a PC user. I find Mac user interface unintuitive and not user-friendly. I find I have that problem with most Apple products, especially iPhone. You can do exactly what they want you to do, nothing more. Really frustrating for users who want more.
I’m definitely a PC girl. I don’t get the hype around Macs. I’ve used them and they’re perfectly fine, but I can’t see wanting to switch. But then again, I don’t seem to ever have the problems that people are always complaining about with PCs.
I just had some awesome Indian food. (Kinda veering into food coma territory.) Makes up for a sucky Satuday spent studying (look at all those S’s) for midterms…

You know I didn’t get of Costco for less than $200. A good chunk of that went to our new Keurig Platinum, though. We’ve already brewed 4 cups of coffee today. I’m wired! 🙂

I recently started mixed Martial arts and I love it. I am enjoying it so much that I figured I would never do a tournament BUT if I get good enough, I think I would totally do one next year. It might be fun, it is already fun learning from all of the other girls and even some guys help out oo.

Am I keeping a beauty product for sentimental reasons? Yes! I bought a John Frieda leave-in color glaze for brunettes on my last trip to the Boots on Oxford’s Cornmarket Street, the day before I left. I spent a year at Oxford as a visiting student and I loved that huge Boots (a drugstore with a department store-worthy beauty section that included Lancome and Chanel stalls). Long story short, I still have a tube of that glaze on my bathroom counter, but can’t quite bring myself to toss it. : P

I got offered a free haircut at 8am yesterday morning while I was buying groceries, from a new salon that had moved in next door. I applaud their enthusiastic marketing, but 8am is really early for a spontaneous haircut by an unknown force! ><

I actually do wear white eyeshadow! My go-to brow bone highlight is Bobbi Brown Bone, which is an off-white. I use my 217 with it, so it disappears into my skin but leaves my brow bone highlighted for sure! It’s like magic!

Both a PC and a Mac! I know, I know, I’m a heretic! But we have both computers and I love them both. I remember when Skype was first introduced and becoming a “thing”. It was really cool to think about seeing someone thousands of miles away AND being able to talk to them. Then again, I also remember dial-up Internet and life BEFORE the internet, so clearly I’ve lived through the Dark Ages.
I have an 18 year old Russian Blue who thinks Tabs is doing a fine job of keeping you on your toes! He must be an excellent boss! I know Gorby is taking notes so I can serve him in the same capacity!
My 5 year old laptop is acting weird. . . I’m sure it’s time for a new one. A Sephora gift card would be a lovely diversion from all the tech stuff.

White shadow is hard to pull off with darker skintones, but white eyeliner for the inner corners/lower lashline is amazing! Rimmel Kohl Pencil =)

Hello! First, thank you for creating this give-away. It’s very kind of you! 🙂 I currently use a MAC, after using a PC for seven years. I like them. I am a twenty-six year old teacher. I teach children who are amazing and brave, and they all have diagnosed learning disabilities and ADHD. Funny thing is, so do I. Everyday, I feel fortunate enough to be doing something I love and it makes me feel like all of the struggles I’ve personally gone through regarding school and life in general all worth it. I’m a Korean adoptee, and when I came across your blog, I was happy to see an Asian American woman who is both articulate and beautiful. Even though I grew up in the inner city and around diversity in most senses of the word, I still felt ‘different.’ I just am glad to see more women of color having and providing cosmetic reviews and blogs regarding many other issues. As for white eyeshadow, I have worn it! I like Vanilla by Urban Decay because it’s not pure white; it has a golden white tone. I am currently wearing it now, as well as UD eyeliner in Evidence, a shimmery navy blue eyeliner. I wear UD Naked Foundation in Shade 7 and since I’m a bit tanner but not 7.5 cause it’s for rosy/ pink undertones and I’m golden, I mix it with Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer in Tan. This is the only makeup I wear during work from seven in the mornj g I six at night. I love makeup though, but don’t wear it unless its the weekend. I’ve babbled on and on. I’m seeing this guy at the moment, and decided to take him to my pub where they do amazing gastro pub food – we both order monkfish scampi – which is super yummy, succulent and leaves u asking for more, but the day I decide to bring a guy and impress him with good food the chef decided to over cook the scampis, they came out slightly darker than usual, but very dry 🙁

I could never use a mac. I think because I learned on DOS, before Windows, I need both mouse buttons and all the keyboard shortcuts. Trying on Mac takes me way too long and is frustrating!
