Yesterday afternoon, I was thinking that I haven’t gone out on a Friday night in so long with a girlfriend, so I emailed one of my high school BFFs, Cindy, and asked her if she wanted to catch dinner and a movie. She didn’t have any plans either, so we decided to have a last-minute girls’ night out.
We met at a restaurant in Corte Madera, which is in Southern Marin, called Brick & Bottle. A few of the noms…

After dinner, we watched Warm Bodies, the teenage zombie love story I’ve been “dying” to see ever since I read the book last year. I don’t want to spoil it for you in case you plan to watch it, but I think it was very true to the original work.
As for today, not much planned. El Hub’s visiting his parents, so Tabs and I are holding down the fort here at home. I should probably do some cleaning, but really, all I want to do is nap and relax. Maybe go to the mall and look at some makeup if I can get out of these stretchy pants. We’ll see how it pans out.
What’s on your agenda? Whatever it is, I hope you manage to clear some time in your schedule to treat yourself to something nice, even if it’s just 10 minutes of “me time” at Starbucks with a cup of coffee.

I second the Yum on the fried cheese! I visit regularly visit Laura M, Estee, Shiseido skincare and sometimes other counters if there is a GWP or new product or color that interests me.

I went through four years of high school with my face looking like the skin of a clementine…I thought bronzer was my best friend, when in reality no one was brave enough to tell me that it was actually the opposite. Now that I am in college I have upgraded to the Hula bronzer by Benefit. It is my pricey little guilty pleasure, but it makes me look and feel like a million bucks!

Missy’s always been partial to toys that dangle from a stick. Lately, though she’s crazy about running around the house with toys that have noisy bells inside of them. At about two in the morning….. yeah, not really loving this new discovery of hers.
My boy Ollie really enjoys his antler, and also any stuffy that can hold its own long enough for him to rip it to shreds. – same goes for tennis balls.

Most of our snow melted away in the past few days. I can see our patio again. Can’t wait until it’s warm enough to sit out on it.
As with many cats, mine prefer a good ol’ fashioned cardboard box to all the fancy toys I buy them. Sometimes I think the cats are actually watching for the mailman when they sit and view the world from the front door. I guess they’re anticipating their next box to destroy and sleep on/in.

I’ve only recently started doing a bit of makeup on family members. My husband’s sister A. married in September, and I worked on her mother-in-law’s makeup as well as took care of A.’s husband’s under-eye circles. He is very pale and has a habit of not sleeping. Since I took care of those two and they looked wonderful in the wedding pics, I get asked now to help out with a lot of family.

Wooooooo has this been a busy week, Karen! Time seems to be slipping through my fingers lately (I am for sure looking forward to your Monday Poll because that’s my guaranteed relaxing/reflecting time on Mondays 🙂 ). I got my first two customers for my Etsy shop this past week and I was going crazy happy at home filling those orders! And I recently posted my “Anatomical Human Heart” :3 I’m super proud of it!
Normally I would say that Sticky Toffee Pudding is my favourite dessert, but I just had some awesome churros down in Mexico, so that is currently winning out!

Tabs looks darling in the photo! My cats seem to mostly enjoy attacking each other and whatever paper they can find on my desk. Or stealing and hiding my daughter’s smallest dolls. Can’t seem to get them in to cat toys!
The only time I attempted to do nail art was when I managed to paint Totoro on my nails. It actually came out really well, which surprised me. But I have yet to do it again. Too lazy. 😛 But I did recently buy a matte nail polish finisher so I’m sure I’ll try to do something with that soon.

I love Tiramisu, but I’m a huge sucker for any kind of dessert. I’ve tried, but I never have the patience to wait for my nails to dry so they usually come out as a hot mess. I have done makeup on my friends. The one thing that I excel at is cat eyeliner. I definitely notice all the different eye shapes they have but they always ask why it looks so different on them. It’s extremely hard to pull that look off on a hooded eye. Someone that has hooded eyes that has been practicing can obviously do it better than I can. I do try but makeup looks different on everyone and I’m not a trained professional. I guess you can’t please everyone so whenever I do a friend’s makeup now I’ll only do it on someone with a similar eye shape to mine.

He has been left out on runner for 10 hours at a time with no food or drink…we feed and love him dearly and he has grown to love us very, very much..he’s my Mumma’s Boy! His favorite toy is outdoors. My boyfriend’s mom got our two kittens this “cat tunnel” sort of thing for Christmas… except they’re growing every month, and have almost grown out of it. But they still like to play “ostrich” and stick their heads in, leaving their bodies out… as if we can’t see them… pretty adorable.
My boyfriend loves our cats (Linus and Lucy, b-t-dubs), but if I were single/if we weren’t living together I’d probably have a few more… I completely relate to the crazy cat lady mentality.

Hmmm…Nars is my poison. An old friend turned me on to Nars, about 8 years ago. There’s an emotional, magnetic quality to his work. It’s as if he studied women… I’ll take something like the London eye pencil, and it’s grey, but with a subtle range of blue and green in it…it makes my eyes look like jewels.

Reading your blog makes me miss my three cats! They live in Ohio with my parents. Leo, the boss cat, is a big (read: fat) grey cat with a white star on his chest. His food bowl is in our basement, but he stands at the top of the basement steps and meows until one of his dutiful servants walks him down the stairs to his bowl. What a prince! We also have a black-and-white grumpy cat, Olive, who sleeps most of the time, and a fluffy Maine Coon named Viola who routinely kills small rodents.

Random: I just saw a photo of Lil’ Kim and she is losing her mind…her face is getting so weird looking and she’s beginning to resemble Michael Jackson.

well i watched the super bowl today and though it was a good game bummed SF lost to the ravens!!!! but ate tons of good food today as well!
