Goodness — would you look at that? My poor paws. They’re in dire need of a manicure, but what should I wear? Even though the summer collections have begun to trickle in, I’m still stuck on spring colors like the opaque pastels from the Essie French Affair collection.
This six-piece release graces fingers and toes in creamy shades of blue, pink, beige, purple and peach, but these aren’t your garden variety pastels. They deliver enough pigmentation to completely cover nails in just two coats. With a good base and top coat, they should last at least a week (long enough for our trip!) before chipping.

I really, really have been looking for Topless and Barefoot, but they don’t have it at our Ulta, or at any of the Walgreens. They have ALL the other colors except for Topless and Barefoot 🙁 So I would really love to get that color without having to travel more than 40 miles, LOL. I know they sell Essie at Walmart but I refuse to shop there.
OMG. My prom dress was a two piece with my belly showing. HOT pink with lots of bling. It was awful!!

I love nail polish but hey! Why not talk about prom dresses! My Mom made mine out of royal blue satin and it was a sleeveless mermaid style with a train of black lace! I still have it but after 26 years, I sure don’t fit in it!

i have to say. my top lazy manicure award goes to Chanel’s “Golden Sand” (317). when i’m crunched for time or uninspired, this is the first shade i grab for since it’s easy to apply and looks great even if not applied perfectly.

These are so pretty! Essie is my favorite brand of nail polish, by far.
As for prom dresses, mine was only three years ago (which seems like a long time, now that I say it). I wore a one shouldered silk greecian-style dress in a rich chocolatey color (I bought my dress last minute and the navy I had been eyeing was sold out 🙁 ) with a satiny band across the waist. It was pretty, but if I could go back I’m not sure I would have worn that.

Hehe…my prom dress was a princess-style…very pouffy and Cinderella-esque with so many layers of fabric. Because of the layering, my dress had a duochrome – purple and blue depending on how the light hit it. Loved it even though it was much girlier than I’m used to.

My Love affair with nail polishes started with Chanel Particuliere. Before that I just used a base coat to keep them clean and nice. After Particuliere I started noticing everyone´s nails and loving the colours. I only went to junior prom and it was the best time ever. It was a speakeasy theme and my mom and grandma made my dress of a teal silk and looked like a Chinese kind of dress with a mandarin collar and I wore a long strand of pearls. Even all my friends dressed up to the theme and we went in old timey cars to the dance.

My prom dress was a tea length black chiffon strapless with ruching (sp?) to below the waist. A classic design that I hope one of my girls wants to wear to their prom (in 9-12 years LOL)

You can make your own scented nail polish by adding alcohol-based fragrance to a bottle of nail polish! Don’t use oil-based fragrance because it will disrupt the polish’s formula.

One time, my Dad was fretting over a chip in our granite work-surface in the kitchen when I had a bright idea – I mixed a navy and cyan nail polish to get the perfect shade of blue, painted it over the chip and voila! I wore a short, yellow bubble hemmed dress with a bow and sequin detailing to my junior prom. It was the first time I ever got dolled up for an event. My prom date’s sister was (and still is!) a MAC MUA and did my makeup for me. Since then, I’ve been turned into a full fledged MAC addict and can not imagine how life would be without it. 🙂
I’ve been Frankening up a few polishes lately, mostly as gifts. I did make one for myself that I really like that’s a royal blue shimmer with a kind of duo-chromey opalescent peach shimmer. I haven’t worn it yet, because it’s a made from 2 really old polishes & it’s a little bottle, so I only have so much and can’t make it again.
This Essie collection is sooo SWEET, it has me going NUTS!!! I feel like a little girl again just looking at the colors.

China Glaze has a color called Ruby Pumps. I love this color! I started wearing it about four years ago and have gone through multiple bottles. The color is great on my toenails. I sometimes try other colors but always come back to this one.

My prom dress with this poofy pink thing with a collar from Lauralee. I saw it in a Seventeen magazine and I just had to have it. Girls had just started wearing skinnier dresses getting away from the large ones in the 90’s. You remember! I kept it in my mothers closet with other important dresses. This year, she presented me with a quilt… made out of all of my dresses! I seriously almost cried. She was so upset because she thought it was such a great idea. :-/

My prom dress was an ice blue A-line with a boatneck-type front and a deep scoop back with three ribbons that tied across it. I got it crazy cheap (I spent more money on a matching earring/necklace/bracelet set than on the dress!) and wore it to three proms, and then my cousin borrowed it the next year. Best dress ever.

Ooooohhhhh, I just love this collection!! I’ve already purchased Nice is Nice, such a sweet lilac, looks gr8 on my short nails. I love OPI’s Lincoln Park After Dark (oldie but goodie!) and a newer China Glaze polish called Sea Spray, I believe. It is from their recent nautical collection and it is such a cool grey/pale blue.
My first crush was my 4th grade teacher, Mr. Hardy. Not only was he dreamy, but he was an amazing, inspiring teacher. He was very influential in me becoming a teacher. 🙂
Since I’m Canadian, prom wasn’t what we called it. We called it grad and I wore a Chinese inspired dress. Got it for 100 dollars which was a steal for me. Then I did some weird crazy makeup and put rhinestones on my face. 🙂 Hope I win.

Essie French Affair reminds me of my very first n/p I started wearing at age 10. It was a light pink from Avon called Cotton Candy. I was obsessed with it!
I’ll take the first love idea. My first crush was my teacher from an alternative school I went to after dropping out of high school at 17. He was mostly volunteering his time because the school didn’t have enough of a budget to give the teachers enough salaries. The other teachers came and went but he was with us through thick and thin.
I loved him very much.

I’m Canadian and thus prom is not a term we often use. We do however have grad. My grad dress was a 100 dollar chinese dress I found down on Robson Street in downtown Vancouver (BC). I did crazy makeup and put rhinestones on my face. That’s that. 🙂

My uncle used to do makeup for lancome and offered to do mine for prom. I liked the way I looked so much that that was the day I fell in love with makeup!

Favorite nail polish right now is from the SK holiday collection. The gold glitter one. Not sure of the name Surprisingly I get better lasting from it than a matte or gloss or shimmer shade. And I only need one thick coat.

In my opinion, bright nail colors are the best way to go for Spring. I’m rockin a beautiful purple right now 🙂 As for first crushes, celeb-style…I’ve got to go with either Kirk Cameron or Steve Burton. They both still look amazing!
