Last day of the trip. We’ll be back home tomorrow. It’s been so relaxing and great seeing Connor have so much fun in the tropics.
El Hub’s parents used to live in this house right here. I’ll never forget how loud the birds are in the morning! It’s wonderful. This is called Haiku Gardens in Kaneohe behind where my in-laws used to live. We used to go there every morning to feed the fish and turtles.
There’s a huge lychee tree in the garden, and it’s the height of the season right now, but all of the fruit was gone except for some hanging over the water.
So when El Hub was growing up there was this rare, special fruit called a mountain apple that isn’t actually an apple (I don’t think), but the trees are very rare nowadays. There’s one at Haiku Gardens, though!
The Ko’olau Mountains in Kaneohe are so beautiful. The Pig & The Lady restaurant is in Chinatown.
The seared ahi toast at Pig & The Lady, which is an Asian fusion restaurant in Chinatown. This dish was amazing! One of the best dishes I’ve ever had in my life. Eyes rolling back in ecstasy good. The ahi was really fatty, so it melted the minute it hit your tongue, and they put it on this really crispy toast with shaved garlic pieces on top… Mmm!!!
I want to go back just to eat all the pasta dishes.
Me, the coywolf and my friend Fern in front of the sign at Pig & The Lady. We’re all stuffed and happy after the meal. We met through the blog years ago, and we finally got together on this trip. She and her husband live on Oahu. It was great to finally meet them.
I ate every last drop.Giovanni’s Shrimp Truck in Kahuku. Finally crossed off my list. It was OK… Glad I finally did it, but I don’t have to do it again.
Of course I found the one beach cat hanging out on the North Shore to befriend.
The lagoon at Turtle Bay on the North ShoreThis is where we got married. It’s at the Turtle Bay Resort. No weddings there today, though.

Beautiful scenery! Glad you guys are having fun! So many new adventures for Connor to see!! LOL I knew you would find a local cat to befriend.
I went to Matsumoto’s Shave Ice back when I visited Hawaii! And I swore that next time I came, we’d splurge and stay at Turtle Bay resort. I hope I get to visit Hawaii again one day, I really loved it.
My husband and I stayed at Turtle Bay resort two years ago, it is a beautiful place! We did some of the food trucks, some better than others, certainly ate more than my share of poke!! Enjoy!
I said I always wanted to go to Hawaii on vacation and your pictures just made me want to go even more. GORGEOUS! I know you had a WONDERFUL vacation!!!!
Great pictures! I’m glad you had such a good time. We never made it to the leeward side but it looks gorgeous (of course!). 🙂 I hope you had a nice trip home!
