Rise and shine, pal o’ mine! Happy Tuesday. Some of mine, in no particular order…
- Hot, crispy French fries with lots of salt
- When roots sprout from a plant cutting. I have a small jar of water on my kitchen windowsill right now with a cutting in it from one of my plants from The Lady Sanctuary, and every time I see the little roots growing from it when I wash the dishes, I smile. 🙂 Because it’s a reminder that life finds a way to keep going.
- Ladybugs
- My tabby’s fluffy ear tufts
- Stumbling upon a friendly horse while I’m hiking
- When El Hub tucks me under the covers before saying goodbye when he leaves for work at the crack of dawn in the morning
- Hearing Connor say a new word for the first time. The latest additions to her vocabularly include “happy,” “cookie,” “apple” and “ham!”
How about you? What are some little things that bring you joy?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

-Grilling outside while the cat naps on the concrete.
-Picking fresh cucumbers or tomatoes from my vegetable garden.
– When flowers you planted from seed finally bloom!
Hi Rachel!
I don’t know if I mentioned this to you yet, but I made the salad you talked about in last week’s Monday poll with tomatoes, cucumbers and smoked salmon. I loooved it! I added some dill because I had some left over. Next time (perhaps today), I’ll throw in some roasted chickpeas. Thank you for the recipe idea! 🙂
That’s great! Sometimes I just do tomatoes, cucumber, feta, S+P, olive oil and white wine vinegar. I love fresh summer salads!
Happy Tuesday!! I’m so glad you met a friendly horse. I have loved horses and riding since I was a kid but almost never get to do it these days.
1. Pizza, pasta and freshly baked bread! A new Italian restaurant opened in town and I plan to go carb wild soon. I predict I’ll be very happy. 🙂
2. When the boys do well at anything, even if it’s small. When they’re happy, I’m happy!
3. I’m like a broken record, but sleeping in. Maybe I was a very lazy cat in my past life?
4. Hanging with my friends – always a joyful time.
5. A clean house. You know, when you walk in and everything just looks and smells “perfect”. For like the first hour, before it’s a mess again. HAHA!
Funny you should mention the house thing! I have a mom friend with two boys who said recently that she’s not going to clean again until they leave for college (her boys are 2 and 5), LOL!
HAHA! If they’re anything like mine, it actually gets worse as they get older. It used to be like Oscar and Felix before they hit the teen years. Now it’s Oscar and Double Oscar. Which reminds me that I wish I could still eat Filet Oscar. So good. 😉
1. A really good chocolate croissant with an iced latte
2. Fresh flowers on my desk at work and on our table at home, especially peonies or gerbera daisies
3. petting my kitties when I get home from work

fresh sheets are the best, the crispness , feel and smell. i have to go home and change my sheet.
Horses, cats and dogs. The sweet smell of the top of a baby’s head. Dear Husband walking through the door at the end of a work day or when he returns home from a business trip. Visits with Dear Daughter. A good cup of cold brew or a well pulled cappuccino at the local Venetian coffee bar. Baguettes and croissants in Paris. Art museums.
karen, I just realize this is my gratitude list. I could do three things but i realize i have things that i truly love.
1. my cat sauntering to the door to meet me
2. hot dogs on the grill and seafood sandwiches ( like shrimp or lobster rolls)
3. Margaritas made right . not too sour and not too sweet and made with real limes/lemons
4. Mani /pedis that make my nail bed look long and doesnt mess up when i leave the salon
5. being able to watch my shows that I missed without interruptions
6. opening up or finishing a product
Seeing the joy when my puppy and his best friend see each other again on their afternoon walks. And fresh towels.
Lisa, fresh towels are the best. Especially when they’re warm and right out of the dryer.
What’s your puppy’s name?
We call him Theo.
What a fun thread!
1. The kitty butt wiggle when they play.
2. Picking tomatoes and cucumbers from my garden.
3. Finding a random stash of cookie dough in the freezer.
4. Turning off my alarm so I can sleep in on Saturday.
Lucky you to have both tomatoes and cucumbers. BTW, Rachel here in the comments introduced me to a yummy salad that you might like too. Tomatoes, cucumbers and smoked salmon. And whatever greens you like (kale, spinach, romaine). It’s super good!
That salad sounds really yummy! I’ve found cucumbers and cherry tomatoes are pretty easy to grow. My larger tomato plant are still struggling a bit. Sun Gold tomatoes are a little larger than the regular cherry tomatoes, but they ripen to this deep orange color and are super sweet and delicious!
We call him Theo.

3. That first morning cup of hot, fresh coffee.
4. Bringing home a nice fat book from the library that I’ve been dying to read!

The two minute back rub I get when my husband is on his way up to bed, when kitty purrs when I pick him up, a glass of ice topped up with club soda, bbq peanuts, the smell of a campfire.
