I’ve been thinking a lot about perfume lately because my migraines have eased up a bit (yay), so I’ve been slowly working my way into wearing scents again.
Anywho, fragrance notes. What are your favorites?
I’m a sucker for rose notes, especially when they’re sweet (but not too sweet) and fresh. Tuberose is my favorite.
I also love, LOVE violet and orange blossom notes, too. Oh, and anything with a gardenia and tiare flower? I’m totally there.
Bright citrus notes are my jam, too. Orange, lemon, grapefruit—delicious!
For richer base notes I usually gravitate towards musk or vanilla.
How about you?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

P.S. Happy Saturday, my sweet friend! I’m so glad to have a day to rest. I got to leave work early yesterday because it was slow, and I planned to take the time to tidy the house. After lunch, though, my body had other ideas. I plopped down on the couch thinking I’d just relax for a few minutes, and next thing I know, I’m waking up from a two-hour nap, LOL! Sometimes you just gotta listen to your limbs, I guess.
Today I’m going to catch up on some errands and clock in some time watching the Olympics! Hasn’t gymnastics been so exciting?
Enjoy the rest of your day, and if you feel like it, please share what you’re up to this weekend.

It depends on the season: spring is orange blossom and heliotrope, summer is coconut and lime, autumn/winter is spice, vanilla and sandalwood.
Ambergris is a year round favorite for me. Juliette’s Got A Gun, Not A Perfume is a constant. It never gives me a headache and I layer it with Glossier You or Dylan Purple from Versace. I always get complements from people and literally get followed around by random people who then ask what I’m wearing. Orange flower is also a fav in the summer. it’s so fresh and feminine.
For summer, I like citrus notes and fougere scents. I have been wearing Salt & Stone Hinoki and Bergamot a lot, and Beauty Pie’s Botanica. For winter, I like ambers, like the original Prada and Estee Lauder Private Collection Amber Ylang Ylang (I think it’s discontinued).
I like vanilla, lilac, violet, gardenia, tuberose, and sandalwood. My favorite perfume is the sadly discontinued “My Queen” from Alexander McQueen. I suspect if he had not killed himself about a year after it was launched, it would still be around, as I believe it was a tribute to his deceased mother. I also like “Cashmere Mist.”
Been watching the Olympics off and on. My particular interest is the equestrian sports. In 1984 my parents, one brother, and I went to San Diego and LA to see the cross-country jumping (at a golf course at Rancho Santa Fe), and the stadium jumping at Santa Anita Racetrack. The cross-country jumping is particularly exciting as you can get fairly close to the action.
I like most notes in the right balance. The list of the ones I don’t like is much clearer – patchouli, sandalwood, bergamot – which isn’t great because of all of the fragrances that contain one or more of these. Not sure why but bergamot smells like moldy lemons to me.
We’ve watched some of the events on YT, mostly Katie Ledecky, gymnastics, and track and field, especially the events I used to compete in (poorly) – shot put and discus.
