Skin care, hair, makeup, perfume… What are your go-to winter beauty products?
Well, in terms of skin care, where do I even start? Dry skin is my big issue when it gets cold, and it feels like I’m dry from head to toe. Lately I’ve had a tube of CeraVe Healing Ointment nearby at all times (it truly is a lifesaver) because my lips have been dry, dry, dry. I also put it on my cuticles when they start feeling rough!
Other skin care things that help with the dryness at this time —
- Avene Xera Calm AD: I use this rich, unscented lotion on my body and face. It’s a beast!
- Fresh Kombucha Antioxidant Facial Treatment Essence: I don’t usually like adding extra steps to my skin routine but this toner seems to really help add extra moisture into the mix.
- EO Intensive Repair Hand Cream: Absorbs fast and I love the light orange scent. I keep it on my desk and reapply whenever I have meetings.
- Skinfix Eczema Hand Repair Cream: Thick and rich but not greasy. I keep a tube by my bed and apply before going to sleep.
- Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask: Believe the hype! This balm is a legend for a reason.
I’ve also been thinking about scents a lot lately, because when it gets cold I love slightly heavier perfumes (well, heavy for me, at least). For the past couple winters I’ve enjoyed Lancôme La Vie Est Belle!
How about you? What are your go-to winter beauty products?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

I like the Body Shop Hemp Hand Protector and their Hemp body butter. Sometimes the body butter can be a little thick so I’ll alternate between that and Cetaphil lotion. My lips are so dry and flaky right now! I do love the Laneige lip sleeping mask but whatever lip balm I use, I often put straight up Vaseline over it before I go to sleep! I also do some kind of foot lotion, usually something by Dr. Teals. I like more musky fragrances in the winter like Marc Jacobs Decadence or Angel by Thierry Mugler.
I love the Laneige also! And I always have a tube of Laroche-Posay Cicaplast Baum on hand, it’s very rich but not greasy-I use on hands and face when it’s super dry.
Hey Karen,
I have been on project pan so I am using everything but the toner I really use in the winter time is the Lancome Tonique Confrot. I have been using Coco Shea balms from Bath and body works on my body.
I discovered recently that hand lotions with essential oils in them are much more hydrating for me than anything else. I like Williams Sonoma’s Meyer Lemon hand lotion, Moroccanoil hand cream, and Trader Joe’s Ultra Moisturizing Hand Cream Trio gift set. At night, I mix a little cocktail of argan oil, Neutrogena Hydroboost Body Gel Cream, and O’Keefe’s Working Hands for maximum benefits.
And yes to Laneige!💗 Sleeping Mask at night, Treatment Balm during the day. Honorable mention to Nars’ Afterglow Lip Balm in Dolce Vita and Shiseido
Color Gel Lip Balm in Dahlia.
I recently discovered that tocopherol (topical vitamin e) causes me to have allergic reactions so I’m trying to make sure all of my products are safe for me – I need to buy a new sunscreen, I plan on picking one up tomorrow.
Eucerin Roughness Relief lotion or cream are a necessity for feet for me, my feet get dry and cracked so easily. Also great for Keratosis Pilaris! I’m a big fan of jojoba oil for my nails and cuticles and Aveeno Eczema Therapy cream for anywhere and everywhere.
Hi Karen,
My must haves include: Hourglass Lip Oil on those days when the lip flakes build up on the lip flakes that I already have (never-ending battle), an extra application of Hyaluronic Acid and Moisturizer, and either Tom Ford Soleil Niege fragrance or Tom Ford F*g Fabulous when there is snow on the ground.
I am so going to have to try the night lip mask because last winter my lips were a mess despite going through a plethora of fresh’s sugar balm and the hourglass lip oil. I think this is attributed more to mask wearing for 13 hours at work though.
I’m back to l’occitane shea butter hand cream now that it’s winter. Sometimes my finger tips get so dry they crack. If that happens, I go for Aquaphor ointment. Josie Maran’s body butter is a must for my legs and arms. I use Rosebud Salve year around for my lips. We have a wood stove, so it gets really dry in the house even if we put a pot of water on the stove or use a humidifier.
Gentle cleansers, rich moisturizers and anything that keeps the air more humid.
Hello….Mine are Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream. Its the best under makeup too. Sugar Fresh Recover Lip Mask. I like it better than the cult lip mask. Heehee. I also use CeraVe (like you) on top of the mask. Vanicream makes a big pump, tub of lotion/cream, and I rub this all over my legs with a pump of Biossance squalance oil in with it. Skin Ceuticals A.G.E. eye cream. Expensive, but the only one I love. These items make me ready for winter. It took me a long time to master the list. I also have dry skin. My dry skin is all year around!
Chicago winters, living close to the lake with the wind we get is tough on the skin. My go to’s are Honey Girl Rose Facial Oil or Morning Song Garden Argan and Pomegranate facial oil under whatever face cream I’m using followed by Badger spf 40 clear zinc mineral sunscreen. Eczema is a serious problem for me so I’m happy to read your suggestions. Currently, I use Cereve cream or a beeswax cream with carrot/calendula (very healing) from Morning Song Garden in Ohio on my hands, neck and chest and unscented goat milk lotion from Bend Soap Company in Oregon everywhere else.
