Do you love them or loathe them, and why? I’m contemplating signing up for a subscription or two, mostly so I can have an excuse to try some new brands. There’s a few that are new to me in the October Ipsy box (pictured above), like Dermalect and Buttah Skin.
If you have a favorite beauty subscription, please let me know!
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. Happy Tuesday!

Is Itsy box supposed to be Ipsy?
I’ve tried a few–including Allure’s, Sephora’s, Ipsy and Birchbox. I’ve possibly done a few others but they aren’t coming to mind immediately.
As much of a beauty junkie as I am, I found them all on the disappointing side. I didn’t get a ton of stuff that I hadn’t already tried. And the lesser known stuff I did try wasn’t that great.
I’m thinking maybe at my demographic–50+–I need to sign up for a more expensive box with more luxury samples. Most of the subs I had were around $10 a month.
I ended up deciding that it makes more sense to take that $10 or $15 I was spending to order something I’ve wanted to try from Sephora and get free samples.
I would love a nail art subscription and I kind of have that through Scratch-It Nail wraps.
Ah, thank you! See, this is what I get for doing 12 things at the same time.
I’ve tried Allure, Ipsy, Birchbox and another really high end box (I can’t remember it’s name). I liked the high end one, but it got boring, because every month, it had a lotion, a scrub and a face cream or oil. It was $50 a month and the products were nice but there was literally no difference from month to month. Wish I could remember it.
I used to get Ipsy and the Sephora Play box that’s now been discontinued. They were fine, but I got so much stuff. It was overwhelming. But I did find my signature fragrance, Nest Citrine, in one, I don’t even like perfume samples but I smelled that one and it was over. My daughters get boxes, Ipsy and Birchbox and they like them.
I have subscribed to Fab Fit Fun for the past two years and although it is not exclusively a beauty subscription it does have beauty choice options for each of the 6 categories of items that can be chosen from a month plus there are beauty add-ons and sales throughout the year you can get more great beauty items at great prices from. I like that I could get some beauty, some hair, house and home and even fashion items. It was great for gifting items to other also. $179 Canadian for a year was a good deal I thought and that was 4 boxes with 6 full size items in each. USA cheaper and less or no shipping costs too.
I have friends who love that subscription! I’m thinking that I might try it, at least for a little bit. Have you found any holy grails through that subscription?
Go for it Karen – you won’t regret it.
Yes, I did find a fee terrific products. My
Holy grail Galilee Antioxidant Dewy Drop Serum has been a great find and is so nourishing while being very light feeling.
The Wander Beauty Baggage Claim Gold Eye Patches are a nice treat – the first eye patches I have tried and really nice and gentle. Such a fun treat!!
Lastly, I was able to try and Amicable texturizing spray and a hairspray that I will repurchase. Both are great for my straight, limp hair. I highly recommend.
And the house and home items are amazing and so fun to look at and decide between.
They’re fun for trying new products, but like Stephanie says, I ended up with so much stuff I never used, it felt like a bit of a waste of money. I got so many products that weren’t really suitable for my skin type, and my skin is also quite fussy about me changing up what I put on it, so I didn’t get them for long.
I tried a few, even a redhead specific one, but honestly I’m super picky and ended up with too many things I didn’t like.
