I gotta say that I pretty much love EVERYTHING I have in my makeup bag at the moment. There is absolutely nothing in there that I have “meh” feelings about, which I’m just now realizing is kind of awesome.
All this to say that it’s really, really hard to pick just one thing, so here’s two things!
The first would be Rare Beauty Perfect Strokes Universal Mascara. It’s a beautiful, lightweight mascara that resists smudging and flaking, holds the curl and adds just the perfect amount of length and volume. It’s $20, which I feel is pretty reasonable considering a lot of drugstore mascaras are in the $14 price range and the ones at Sephora seem to hover at about $30.
The second item is the $26 mini version of Westman Atelier Baby Cheeks Blush Stick in Petal, a dusty nude rose cream blush. Goodness gracious, it’s so, so good. It blends like a dream, looks natural on my skin and unlike some cream blushes that disappear in an hour or so, this one lasts. I can put it on first thing in the morning before I leave for work, and it’s still on my cheeks in the afternoon. I like to wear it as a lipstick, too.
What’s one thing in your makeup bag right now that you’d enthusiastically recommend to anyone and everyone?
I can’t wait to hear your answer!
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. Happy Caturday! I woke up this morning to a gloriously overcast sky and cool weather. It’s a relief to get a break from the heat. Did you have a good week? I hope so. I realized this week that summer break, at least for Connor’s school, will be over soon. I only have three full weeks with her before she starts third grade. It’s been a challenge balancing work, camps and childcare this summer, but now I’m already feeling that bittersweetness that comes ‘round in August. Anyway, have a good rest of your Saturday. What are your plans today?

Boots Number 7 colour stick redness correcter followed by a swift application of Dr Hauschka’s colour correction powder palette. Makes me look like normal people instead of red and blotchy!!
I have a mini Clarins lip oil in my purse that’s so awesome! Considering getting the full size!
This morning our family walked to the farmer’s market in town. I got some green and yellow beans, new potatoes, and a couple of huge onions. Hoping the girls will like the beans as they are usually not great at eating veggies!
I 100% agree with you on the Rare Beauty mascara. I would also add the Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Luminous Powder Blush. (My color is Happy.) Sometimes I use it along with a tiny bit of the liquid version for a little dimension.
We (very unexpectedly, lol) adopted a dog this week. Her name is Rosie.😊
I agree on the Rare Beauty mascara. I’ve tried them all from drugstore to Chanel and they all smear or flake on me (my skin is dry and I don’t wear daytime eye cream). But RB mascara stays put and looks natural. My other go to product right now is Olio-E-Osso balm stick (for lips cheeks and eye) in Currant. I’m very fair with a rosy complexion and I thought it would be too dark and/or wine colored but it’s subtle and beautiful on.
About the only thing I would repurchase in my bag right now is the Nivea Japan – Rich Care & Color Lip Balm SPF 20 PA++, available on Yesstyle. Just enough tint to make a difference, but not so much you need a mirror to slick it on and it has SPF.
I was so thankful for the cooler weather this morning. Went for an interval walk with Dear Husband and now my glutes are reminding me I didn’t walk nearly enough during the past heat waves.
I can’t believe how early school starts these days. I remember when school didn’t start until the day after Labor Day. Enjoy your summer time with Connor!
Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer!! I love it, and have been using it for so many years!!
CliniqueBlack Honey Lip & Cheek Oil
Thanks for the recs everyone! Always looking for good mascara. I do love the Tower 28 mascara though, and the Thrive Causemetics mascara. Both are so easy to wash away. Really love my Orce foundation, which I stopped using because I am lazy and just used my tinted SPF. I started using it again after my derm told me I needed to use opaque foundation AND tinted SPF to really guard against melasma. I have to say it’s spot on, color wise, even with my face-of-many-colors.
Hope everyone’s enjoying their weekend!
I tried to think of something for this, but pretty much every makeup item I’ve really liked over the years has either been discontinued or altered so much that they’re not really the same. My go-tos were TheBalm BalmShelter Tinted Moisturizer, and a couple of eyeshadows: Nars Lhasa and Burberry Rosewood, Also Nars Amour blush (has been altered).
