I don’t know if squeezing this mop on the top of my head into a bun and loosely securing it with a scrunchie qualifies as a hair “style,” but that’s as good as it gets at the moment. ? I figure, as along as most of the hairs are in the bun, I’m doing OK!
Soon enough, the time will come when I’ll be able to get a trim. Until then, I’m going to refer to my mussed mane as “editorial” and tell everyone that it’s messy on purpose, ha ha ha! ?
How about you? What’s your go-to shelter-in-place hairstyle?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. TGIF! OMG, TGIFx10!

When I practice in the morning: The Crappiest Bun Ever.
When I’m working: all down.
When I’m eating: a low Crappiest Bun Ever.
I’m aware of how much thinner my hair is than it ever was so I try to give it breaks and not keep it up so much. I could never do what the Cirque du Soleil HAIR SUSPENSION ARTIST does!!!
TGIIDKWDIIA!! (Thank God It’s I Don’t Know What Day It Is Anymore)
Totally a topknot. But! I’m going to a salon for cut n color later this month. I usually do it all myself so hopefully I’ll have a cool new covid-do soon here. I think they are letting people in one at a time so I scored an 8:00am spot!
TGIF PT! Thank god it’s Friday pizza tonight!
I just did a happy dance for you for your upcoming hair appointment!!!
And yes, TGIF! What kind of pizza are you having? We have gluten-free cheese pizza in the freezer so we might be having that tonight.
Dance dance bew bew! Jalapeño and onion pizza!
Wow, so I thought it was just me thinking that my hair does better when I wear it down! This is why I started going the scrunchie route. I feel like less hair gets pulled out? The scrunchie is kinder and gentler to the crazy bun!
Yes, I was admiring your scrunchy, thinking the same thing about how it’s better than the elastic. But are the scrunchies really strong? My hair is so slippery, I feel like it wouldn’t hold it in.
I, too, need a post-covid trim. I would like my layers again, this one length has gotten too long and heavy. Cousin It almost lol
No it doesn’t hold anything up at all, LOL! I wouldn’t wear it to work out in or anything. But when I’m just hanging around it *kinda* stays up if I pile it up on the top of my head. Kinda! But what I love about it is it doesn’t leave a weird bend in my strands, and it doesn’t give me a headache.
MY HAIR FEELS LIKE COUSIN IT TOO, HA HA HA!
Oh crap, haha! I guess that’s why buns held up with scrunchies look more loose than, say, ballerina bun. But I guess if we really did have Cousin It hair, that scrunchy would do the job lol! I just think of scrunchy and can only see the sequined ones that my mom used to make my sister wear when she sang the National Anthem at all the Phoenix Suns basketball home games O_o
But YES, bun/ponytail bump and headache are REAL.
We have a couple of those sequined scrunchies at our house from Connor’s dance recitals, LOL! They’re currently serving as necklaces on various stuffed animals.
If you’re gonna do the scrunchie route, go with velvet. They seem to have a best grip!
You can also put just a little hairspray (or your favorite product) in your hair and let it dry, then put it up in a bun or ponytail. That gives your scrunchie, hair tie, band, etc. something to hold onto. I have Really. A. Lot. of hair, but it’s super fine and soft. Hair accessories like to slip right on out unless I give them something to grip.
Hairstyles include brows, right?
I was procrastinating work and I ran across these accounts I just had share with you from IG: @abtkurniawan and his company @teviant (both from PI). OMG those products and Albert’s latest brow tutorial: brain — and brows — blown!!
Up and down, all day! Hair starts out down, free like the wind, a little frizzy and happy to have not seen a curling iron since SIP began! Then a hot flash comes on, and I twist it up into a bun, off of my neck. Then my head gets tires of the weight of the bun, so it goes back down. Hot flash: up! Heavy head: down! All day … ugh …
I’ve been wearing a ponytail. The ultimate in laziness. lol
I recently learnt to put my hair in a bun without any hair tie and it’s seriously life-changing! Here’s how you do it:
1) before you twist your hair up, leave a small section out
2) twist your hair into a tight bun as you normally would
3) take the small section you left out and twist it around your bun IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION.
For example, if you twisted your hair clockwise in step 2, use the small section and twist it counter-clockwise. Then tuck in the loose end of this small section when you’re done.
Viola! Hair in a bun without any hair ties!

Seriously, such a lifesaver!
My go-to has been a single braid. Keeps my hair out of the way while I’m working and creates nice waves for the times in between when I want to play in makeup and pretend I have somewhere to go, lol.
My hair goes between three modes: a topknot made with either a hair stick or a hair tie, a braid or down.
Always down, I can´t seem to deal with anything else at the moment. Down, air dried and brushed twice a day, it doesn´t get more low maintenance.
Same! I have the exact same mop on top of my head right now! ??
