Hiya! On this stop on our tour of MAC Eyeliner Greatest Hits is Prunella! AHHH!
In my opinion, it is one of the very best things in the entire MAC world.
Boom. There, I said.
In a nutshell, it’s a purple eyeliner…but not just any purple liner. It’s a deep blackened plum with a hint of shine to softly define your lash and water lines in ways a basic black liner just can’t do.
I’m wearing Prunella here as a one-and-done lid and lash line color. It’s a little smoked out and a little smudgy, which is my favorite way to wear it.
Prunella is a perfect perennial product, but I think it kicks major rear in fall when it’s paired with berry lipsticks, and it turns out that there are two great new berry shades in the MAC Powderkiss Liquid Lipcolour fam. Here I’m wearing Got a Callback, a mid-toned berry mauve; and Burning Love, a straight-up berry. Both have a soft matte finish that complements Prunella’s soft shine well.

And because I can’t resist wearing pink lips with everything (!), I threw on a pink lip to see how it would look with these eyes… Definitely skews the makeup to a springier vibe.
If you’re into the pink, FYI, it’s Charlotte Tilbury’s iconic Pillow Talk lip liner and lipstick topped with Hourglass Fever lipgloss.
Speaking of Charlotte Tilbury, if you’re in a “bougie blush mood” (because they happen, LOL!), I highly suggest checking out her Ecstasy blush. It’s the one with a peachy outer ring and a pink inner ring. When you blend the two together, you get this perfect balance of a neutral pink with a slightly warm peach. It’s not too warm or cool, and it goes surprisingly well with most looks — especially plummy and purple lids and lips like this.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

This is lovely! And I do like the pink lips, despite being a fan of the fall colors. 🙂 Hope your Tuesday is going well!
Mine is going OK! I’ve been running around all morning because on Tuesdays and Thursdays Connor has been taking a 2-hour dance/crafts class, and in that two hours I get a whirlwind of errands done. I finally got the chance to sit down, whew.
How’s your Tuesday going? Good, I hope!
That’s awesome for both of you! It’s nice to be able to get out, even if it’s only for errands. 🙂 It’s going to be an insane week. I brought the program for my boys’ soccer Senior Night to the printer this AM. They’re awesome and digital printing has been such a game changer. 55 copies of a 16-page program tomorrow? Sure! And you can’t beat the price. Now we just have posters and candy bouquets to do for Friday. Too much to do and too little time! HAHA!
I love this look! I’m not sure how well those eye pencils would last on my oily lids but I like layering plum eyeshadow underneath a brown eye liner. It does a little, subtle magic to the eyes! So, I just realized that I can use the Powder kiss lip line because it’s formulated without beeswax! Yahoo! So my question to you is, how do the darker liquid lip colours apply and perform? Do you need lipliner, do they fade patchy? I’m very excited to finally be able to wear some actual color on my lips!
Oh, I love a plum/brown combo! I haven’t done one yet this fall… Going to try that ASAP.
Regarding the dark shades, the darker shades are smooth and pigmented, although you might need a lip liner if you’re in a hurry or if steadying your hands is a challenge. I didn’t use any in these pics, just a slow and careful application.
As for wear time, I’ve only worn them just around the house for short periods of time (I usually take off my lipstick before I put my mask on). Let me give these a go for a longer run and I’ll get back to you!
Hi Karen, I particularly love the ‘Burning Love’ lipstick on you.! I am always conflicted about lipstick because I don’t have lovely white teeth like yours – alas, they’re more yellowy and I never know what shades of ;lipstick to wear to improve them, optical illusion-wise. Some pinks make them look worse. Would a beige-y type colour be better, do you think? This might be a problem that lots of your readers have. Please advise!!
Hi Sarah,
Beige lipsticks tend to be a challenge because so many of them have warm peachy or brown undertones. How do you feel about bolder shades? My experience is that blue-based shades, like blue-based reds, fuchsias and raspberries do a better job of making teeth look whiter. If you’re interested in the MAC Powderkiss family, then one to try is Model Off Duty, a blue-based matte pink.
