Every MAC artist I’ve ever chatted with about Golden Bronze raves about it and basically showers it with love. (Side note: If you caught the Surface reference, you and I were probably at the same eighth-grade dance.)
Shower me with your looooooooove
MAC Iridescent Powder/Loose in Golden Bronze ($29)
This peachy golden loose highlighting powder briefly peace’d-the-eff out for a while, and I didn’t hear about it or see it around (I gave it the Unsung Heroes treatment in 2012), but it’s back with a new version, and it’s just as epic as before.
Kits everywhere are sighing with relief, I’m sure. 🙂
It’s easy to see why this multipurpose miracle-worker is a staple at photo shoots and on runways. You only need the littlest bit to gleam with a gorgeous glow, and it requires, like…zero skill to blend.
Seriously, if you breathe — if you literally JUST EXIST — you can blend this powder.

It’s fantastic as a basic powder highlighter, or mixed into a face/body lotion or oil, or even sprinkled into tinted moisturizer, BB or CC cream, or foundation.
Tip: Load up a tapered eye brush like the MAC 224 with it to precisely place Golden Bronze down the bridge of your nose, on your upper cheekbones, in the inner corners, and on your Cupid’s bow.
You may be thinking, “OK, but can’t other loose highlighters do the same thing?”
Naw, babe, they don’t.

The finish on Golden Bronze is more of a pearly, high-fashion sheen than a frost, so instead of looking like you just poured a jar of club shimmer all over your face, you look like you stepped off a runway at NYFW. Wearing it is like being bathed in buttery sunset all day long.
Tip: The first time you open the jar, peel back the sticker cover just enough to only expose a few of the sifter holes. That way, you can easily control how much powder sifts out, and you can also do this by poking a few holes in the sticker with a needle or a safety pin.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ 5 out of 5 hearts.
On a somewhat related note, you can’t see him, but El Hub was in the background doing goofy dance moves the entire time while I took this series of pictures, so I ended up with 24 pics like this…

Then the Coywolf got up in the mix…

Birds of a feather, those two!
Dropping her off at school has been getting easier. She’s so happy to be there, and seeing her happy makes me happy. I’m still at that point, though, where I don’t know what to do with myself when I’m home alone. When I get back from dropping her off in the morning, I kinda just sit here in the quiet absolutely dumbfounded for a while.
It’s really, really weird to be home alone again (except for Tabs, of course)…
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Okay but seriously, the Coywolf’s eyebrows are ??????
You look amazing here! So glowy!
I know. I wonder if mine ever looked like that. I should’ve never plucked them, damn the ’90s!
Thank goodness tomorrow is Friday, the weekend can’t come soon enough. Do you have any plans for Labor Day?
I’m not one for mac anymore because their prices and so many of their shades blur together for me but your skin looks efforvescent k! I’ve wanted to treat myself for a difficult month and this is it!
OH MY LORD. I’m trying not to panic; this powder was err thang. Now if they would only bring back the ACTUAL Hyper Real Foundation. You and CC continue to give good face. ;-D
Yeah, it was SO GOOD. I was really surprised when it disappeared for a bit. Glad to see it back! P.S. Did you ever try the Silver Dusk shade? It’s back too!
Yes. I had both. SUCH GOODNESS. Silver Dusk was THE bridal MUA highlighter weapon of choice! ;))
Yeah it was. It’s really beautiful across so many skin tones, too, which is the genius of it!
Looks great ! What do you think about it for us NC 25/30 girls ?
Hi Lee,
You could wear it if you like a very contrasty highlight, but if you don’t, it might be a little intense on your skin. There’s also a pale pink called Silver Dusk that you might like (I wrote about it here back in 2012)! It’s basically the same thing as the original. Super pretty, especially with a light touch.
I like using highlighters as eye shadows. I may have to go see what I think about this one in person …
Hi Kellly,
Ya know, me too. There’s something very POW about highlighters on the lids, especially! You might also like the other shade that’s available in this range, Silver Dusk. It’s a shimmery pale pink that’s absolutely beautiful. Here’s an Unsung Heroes I did on it years ago (2012, OMG).
Like the eyes, for sure.
So dewy looking. Nice.
Thanks, Noemi. I’m wearing one of the NARS fall palettes — Singapore! I also buffed Golden Bronze in the inner corners. 🙂
I know we aren’t supposed to have toddler brow envy but DAYUM! I have a secret confession, I still use my pot of MAC Silver Dusk from the 90’s… SSSSHHHHHHH
I love the photos!! ?
MAC bronzers and highlighters are the beeesst. I definitely want to try this, not sure how it would work for my paler skin though.
Can’t believe I missed this post last week. Love it!!! 🙂
