I love mimosas… Last weekend I had a very nice Apricot Blend.
Oh — you thought those two things were related? No, I meant to say, “I like mimosas, and last weekend I wore Apricot Blend.” 🙂
It’s one of the eight recently released MAC Studio Sculpt Shade and Line trios — $21 eye makeup trios with two coordinating eyeshadows and one powder liner in each.
You can wear them wet or dry (wet makes the colors more intense), and each of the pans has coordinating colors — some matte and some shimmer, depending on the pan.
Apricot Blend has a matte orangey brown (like MAC Bamboo), a shimmery beige (like MAC Shroom) and a matte reddish brown liner (which is basically like MAC Costa Riche Eye Kohl in powder liner form).
On me they last about 8-10 hours when I wear them with an eyeshadow primer, which is pretty great wear time. They’re available now at MAC counters, stores and online.

I wore this one, Apricot Blend, a lot last weekend to hang out with ye olde parents, 1) because I didn’t think sparkly glitter was appropriate for Easter brunch and din-din with the folks, and 2) because Apricot Blend caught my eye earlier in the week and looked fairly wearable and neutral. I decided to give it a try, after which I pretty much wore it all weekend long.
I call this my “warm orangey matte brown in the crease, with a shimmery, peachy beige on the lid, along my brow bone and in the inner corner; and a soft reddish brown liner mixed with black eyeshadow on the upper lash line with a warm reddish brown powder liner smudged along my lower lash line” look.
Yes, that’s a very long name… 🙂
The look is very similar to something I do all the time with other MAC products, but this time I used Apricot Blend.
What else am I wearing?
On my eyes: Katy Perry Lashes, MAC Costa Riche Eye Kohl (lower water line), Guerlain Blackjack Liner (upper water line) and MAC Carbon (mixed with the darker brown from Apricot Blend and applied along the upper lash line).
On my cheeks: On my cheeks I’m wearing MAC Refined Golden Bronzer (contour), MAC Warm Soul Blush (apples) and BECCA Opal Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed (upper cheekbones)
On my lips: I’m wearing MAC Staunchly Stylish Pro Longwear Lip Liner, MAC Revved Up Patentpolish Lip Pencil and NARS Striptease Lip Gloss
How do I feel overall about the MAC Studio Sculpt Shade and Line trios?
In the comments yesterday a couple gals mentioned that these weren’t getting rave reviews elsewhere online, I guess, but I think that might be because when you arm swatch them, they really don’t look very impressive at all… That’s true.
You really have to get ’em on your eyes to appreciate what they can do, and I think it also helps to like a certain type of makeup, like softer, really blended looks and bridal looks — romantic glam, so to speak, with lots of lashes, blown-out lids — that sort of thing. Because from what I’ve noticed, these aren’t as pigmented as, say, your regular MAC shadows, but I do think they’re so, so easy to work with.

Have you tried any of these on your eyes yet? If so what do you think? Inquiring minds want to know.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. About the mimosa, I had one with Easter brunch last Sunday, and it was DELISH! 🙂

like the look pretty neutral
The shades are really pretty! But I like my shades a bit more pigmented! You look lovely in the pics! 🙂
Such a pretty look! Your lips caught my attention though! 3 products and it doesn’t look heavy!
U look adorable dear.. the liner shade is my fav from this palette..
You look so pretty here Karen! I haven’t tried any of these yet, I may have to go look at them in person before I decide since I have been hearing mixed reviews.
I love the look you did with these colours! Kind of soft-but-sexy 😀
I guess when it comes to the performance/pigmentation issue, I get stuck on the price of these. These will be about $50-60 each here, for which I really don’t want to have to blend endlessly or use water etc etc. The colour combos are lovely, though.
I love this look on you. Pretty and soft.
Looking totally cute, Karen! I really like this look on you.
I’ve heard mixed reviews on this new product line, but I love the look of it on you and I think it’s a great idea. I’ll keep listening on this one.
I need to calibrate my monitor… this look shows up pink and plum on my screen!
