Rise and shine, morning glory! Today’s a big day. It’s the summer solstice here in the Northern Hemisphere, the official first day of summer. 🙂 That, and it’s also the day the new MAC Bloggers’ Obsessions Collection (and Evolution Revolution Lipglass!) debut on the MAC website.
For now, the nine items in the online-exclusive collection of Lipglasses and Eyeshadows are labeled “Coming Soon,” but that will change any minute (possibly around noon Eastern Time well, some time today the link is live now!). When it does, check out the MAC overview page for pics and video interviews of each of the bloggers featured in the collection and more backstage footage of the MAC Cosmetics Production Facility, complete with oh-so-rockin’ hairnets and safety glasses.
A few things about the collection…
- It’s only going to be available online, at least for now, which means it won’t be carried at MAC stores or counters.
- I’m told it will only be sold in North America (US and Canada), which bums me out immensely, but I’m hoping MAC reconsiders that decision. If you’re an international MAC fan, check MBB a little later today because I have something planned that might be of interest to you.
- Congrats to the gals who were able to sneak in under the radar and successfully purchase items through the MAC website last night (before today’s official release). That’s just cool.

I was one of the lucky ones who was able to order of 2 tubes of Karen’s Evolution Revolution lipglass yesterday. This morning, I was told by the Mac Customer Service representative that my lipglasses are already boxed up and should be shipped out today. Yeah!!!

I just called customer service and spoke to the very nice, and exasperated Kate. She said the site is being overloaded. Her advice was that they expect the products to be available in the next 10-15 minutes. She said to continue to hit refresh, as that’s what they are doing.
The CSRs are having a difficult day, LOL!
Don’t you think that if the collection was being promoted online and “Exclusively online, just like the makeup-mad minds that invented them,” (per MAC), that they would have expanded their band width accordingly? Don’t they read any beauty blogs at all (hello, NYX sale FAIL – that was only blogged about in, like a thousand sites!)?
Karen, MAC should hire you as their social marketing manager so you could advise them on all this stuff. Only make it a contract position, cuz’ we don’t want to lose you! 😉

Thanks to all the bloggers that have kept us updated on this! Iwas able to get EvRev (as well as the entire Bloggers Collection), but not Jealousy Wakes. I could order it if I was in the US but it’s sold out on the Canadian website (and I tried ordering over the phone, the lady just said she was sorry it was sold out). It makes me really frustrated that there was a higher demand in Canada, but because we have a smaller population they didnt produce as many products for us. And of course I can’t order off the American website either. I was also up since 4am MST to watch the website, and had a meeting from 8am to 130pm so I wasnt able to check in between then.
I feel like a 4-year old being upset about something as trivial (but as fun) as makeup – but it all just seems so… unfair! Plus – this is the only LE MAC collection I’ve ever tried to order from.
Thank goodness I got everything else though!
