Every successful celebutante has a few secret beauty tips up her sleeve, and Paris Hilton’s no exception. She was in SF today at the Macy’s in Union Square to promote Fairy Dust, her latest fragrance, and dished about her new perfume, her TV show and, of course, makeup.
New Lipgloss Love: Laura Mercier Liquid Crystal Lipgloss in Citrine
When it comes to makeup, Paris loves lipgloss. This time last year she was all about Chanel Glossimer in Astral. Before that, it was MAC Lipglass in Prrr, but lately she’s been lovin’ on Laura Mercier Liquid Crystal Lipgloss in Citrine, a bright golden coral.
Homegirl actually busted out a tube from her silver Fendi purse while we talked.
“It’s funky,” she said, turning the tube in the light to show me how the colors changed, and then applied a layer with the doe foot applicator. “It’s like all different colors … green and gold and orange.”
Sounds pretty, right? So I went straight to the Laura Mercier counter after the interview only to find out that the Liquid Crystal glosses had been retired six months ago. SHOOT!
But I did some digging and found a slightly softer alternative to Citrine, Bellini Lip Glace ($22), a shimmery coral-gold.

Okay, that settles it. Paris and I don’t have the same taste in mascara. Last year she mentioned Maybelline Great Lash (I never understood the hype), and this year it’s CoverGirl’s LashBlast. Seriously?
I almost gave her my tube of Chanel Exceptionnel mascara … but who gives away Chanel??

LOL, I wonder if she tries on polish while she’s standing in front of the display in the store. I know you do this too, ladies. Don’t lie!

Paris highly recommends Kate’s cleanser, eye cream and toner.

She’s photographed wearing a lot of smokey eyes and nude lips, but today she wore a shimmery silver and green-gray eye, pink cheeks and coral lips, which nicely complimented her seafoam green and silver Alexander Wang dress, L.A.M.B cardigan and white Dior sunglasses.
She said she likes both natural and bold makeup looks. There’s the rosy cheeks and mascara look, but she also has a weakness for bold colors and neon. She said she just got a cool hot pink eyeshadow in Japan, but I didn’t catch the name.
Boyfriend Benji Loves Fairy Dust, Too

Fairy Dust, Paris’ fifth scent for women, smells younger and more carefree than last year’s CAN CAN, but it’s more the complicated than the average celebrity fruity floral. I wore it for the interview today, and on me it starts off with a strong burst of cantaloupe and peach. From there, it softens into a gardenia floral, eventually drying down to a musky, warm vanilla.
The scent lasted all day long. My first reaction was that the initial burst of cantaloupe was too strong, but the intensity wears down to a perfect level within a few minutes, and I really like the the mid and base notes. $55 for a 3.4 oz. bottle; $45 for the 1.7 oz. A Paris Hilton Singalong
On the drive into the city today, I was trying to get into character for the interview (LOL!), so I listened to Paris’ song, Stars Are Blind.
Listening to her song, I wondered if she’d sing a duet with me if I asked (that would rock!). And how many times would she say the words “hot” or “bitches” during the interview? Five times? Fifteen?
But I digress…
Have you been watching My New BFF? The British version just wrapped up, and I asked Paris which group of potential BFF’s did the better overall job with their makeup — the Yanks or the Brits.
“They’re all hot,” she said diplomatically. I pressed, and that’s when she said the Americans rocked the more fierce makeup looks. “They just did it more funky,” she said. “I think the Brits are a bit more reserved. Most of them didn’t wear makeup.”

Paris Hilton’s Travel Beauty Tips: Sleep, and More Sleep
From Japan to Britain to Los Angeles, Paris sets some jets. Travel’s a big part of her life. She spends more time on planes than most of us spend in our cars.
What’s her best travel beauty secret?
Answer: drinking lots of water and sleeping on the plane. “Just to try to sleep on the plane the whole time,” she said. “Bring your own pillow and blanket. Oh, and bring an eye mask if they don’t have one on the plane. It really helps.”

I tried LashBlast and it does nothing for me. The brush kinda hurts when it hits the base of my lashes. But I’m glad that it works for you, as I know you’re particular about your mascaras. 🙂

I smelled her new perfume in a magazine not too long ago and I loved it! I thought it smelled a lot more sophisticated than her other scents. My only gripe is the bottle. I think it looks like something that would be marketed for 12 year olds, not adults. Other than that I was actually impressed.
The lip gloss is pretty. I’ve been loving corals and peachy colors lately.
She looks very pretty and glowy in those pics, and so do you for that matter!
On a slight aside, it always amuses me how photographers/editors/whomever gush over celeb’s skin… if we all had the time and bucks for weekly facials and top-of-the-line products, we’d all have amazing skin too!

Re: CoverGirl LashBlast being Paris’ favourite. Have you ever seen her without false eyelashes? I doubt she uses mascara. She wears false eyelashes to go to the newsstand and the beach.

Hmm, I dunno. Perhaps she does a mascara and false lash combo (that’s what I was taught to do by the folks at Shu).
actually, i kinda believe her. Celebs know how to save too. Yeah, they are like normal people when it comes to budget and splurge. Some of them use cheaper lash products and they wear falsies often, so they’ll just swipe mascara first.
My fav mascara right now is Rimmel Glam’eyes! Two swipes and my lashes look like I have strips of falsies attached!! But I know that other people don’t like it, but I do!
Paris looks kinda freaky in the pic that you took with her. Maybe her lashes are too heavy for her eyelids. That Laura Mercier Bellini gloss is so pretty! In the pic are you wearing it with anything else or is it straight out of the tube?

Hi, Karen, I’ve heard mixed review ofthis Rimmel glam eye mascara. I did shell out 8 dollars for it, but I actually love the result. It does thicken my lashes and defines them and it does a good job keeping my lashes curled. IF the mascara is applied the right way! It’s different for every girl and it took me 2 attempts to get it right. I happened to love this.

I hear that. I tried a mascara today, and I was disappointed in the results. I think, though, that most of it was bad execution on my part (I was in a hurry). I think with practice with it I can get it right. Maybe I’ll get lucky with the Rimmel one, too. 🙂

You’ll like her new one if you prefer fruity, white florals. The fruit in Fairy Dust is summery — peaches and melons. The good thing about it is that it doesn’t have the uber-sweetness that most fruity florals have.
Paris’ skin is simply looking fantastic.

actually, cover girl’s lash blast is AMAZING! i normally use the Bourjois Coup de Theater False lash illusion mascara and have tried numerous other high end brands. when my roommate told me about her covergirl lash blast, i was skeptical. she put it on and i honestly have never seen lashes look so good with such little work. so i decided to try it and i refuse to use anything else. ive gotten all of my girls to use it, including my mom who is super particular about what mascara she uses.
DEF try it. its so much cheaper and its often on sale at drugstores. sometimes it goes for buy one get one free!
