Dear Jeremy Renner,
It’s been a while…
Okay, we’ve never actually communicated, but I quite enjoy writing you these letters and will continue to do so because 1) I have a tendency to babble, and 2) you’re so very, very hot.

Jeremy, I have a proposition for you.
Do you remember the Kelly Clarkson concert I mentioned going to last Saturday?
Of course you do. Well, since the show, I’ve been listening to a lot of Kelly’s music, and I’ve grown particularly fond of Don’t Rush, her new country duet with Vince Gill.
Here’s my idea: you, me, a karaoke bar and that song.
Awesomeness, right? You could gaze adoringly into my eyes as we sing the chorus (please!), but I should warn you — don’t be distracted by my cool cat eyeliner, with its extra little twist.
Yeah, it’s a new look I’ve been rocking all day long.
It’s like a regular cat eye, except with an extra, second wing running parallel to the main flick.
I saw it on the artwork for Kelly’s single, Already Gone, and thought, “Haaay! How cool is that?!”

And it wasn’t even that hard to do. I started with a regular cat eye using my favorite gel liner, MAC Blacktrack, and my go-to Sonia Kashuk Bent Liner Brush. Then, when I finished with the cat eye, I drew a tiny extra flick on each eye.
That’s it! Easy as pie.

Being a former makeup artist, you might be wondering why I opted to use Blacktrack instead of a liquid liner like LORAC Front of the Line Pro.
Well, J. Renn, that’s an excellent question. 🙂
I just find that gel liners are generally thicker and easier to control, but that’s me. With your background and steady, confident hands, you could probably use a liquid liner and get extra sharp, crisp lines.

Next time I try this, I think I might layer a liquid liner on top of Blacktrack, just for kicks.
Oh, and thank you for noticing the angle I used for the flicks. Yes, I purposefully drew them almost horizontally, as opposed to angling them up toward the ends of my brows. I did it because I felt like it gave the appearance of more elongated, feline eyes, mrrrrow!

Well, Jeremy, it’s been great talking to you again. Keep doing those push-ups, and feel free to stop by shirtless anytime. 😉
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Jeremy Renner… “steady, confident hands”… be still my heart!
I know, right? His family lives within driving distance of me! Not gonna lie: it’s the only time I’ve ever wanted to go to Modesto.
What a neat eyeliner look! No matter how much I practice, I just can’t seem to master cat eye or winged eyeliner… 🙁
Hi Tiffany,
Here’s the easiest way I know how to do winged liner:

HTH!
Your skin is looking radiant! Are you still using the NARS tinted moisturizer?
Thanks, Neha. For these pics I’m wearing a combination of different things — mostly MAC Face and Body Foundation, with a little bit of Illamasqua Skin Base around my mouth and chin where I need extra coverage. Here are links to both product reviews in case you’re interested.

Let me know if you have any other questions.
Dear Karen,
could you please advice which foundation you would recommend as “THE BEST”: MAC Face and Body or Illamasqua Skin Base? I have dry to oily/combination skin that tends to impurities/acne. I’ld love to have a glowy finish but with nearly full coverage.
I would very appreciate your recommendation! Currently I use MAC Studio Sculpt in NC20 and I like the texture a lot but is runnning out shortly.
Thank you very much and kind regards from Germany.
i did that accidentally on one eye a few days ago but couldn’t for the life of me get it to look the same on the other eye:(
Hi Mimi,
It helps to draw in the flicks first. I always do that with an angled brush and a black powder shadow.
Dang! You should rock that eyeliner 24/7. It looks that good!
Thanks, Etta! I’m thinking about adding it into my regular rotation of everyday looks.
Are you a cat liner kinda girl, too?
I like your eyeliner here, but I’m really lovin’ the hair!
Thanks, Jen. Believe it or not, it looks bigger in real life!
I’m going to have to check out the Bobbi Brown Bellini palette and the Hourglass Vintage lipstick. Love it.
Hi Marla,
Both are great. I’m especially loving Hourglass Vintage these days!
This look is so sexy, Karen! Almost like a naughty Mad Men gal goes to the voting booth in the early ’60s. I love it! 🙂
I love this look on you! I can’t wait to try the double cat eye.
Gorgeous! I’ve been wanting to try this look for a while. I might try this when I have some time to spend on makeup! I know I have a black-tie event at the end of the month…
Can’t wait to try this tomorrow! You look so elegant. I love it with that hairdo.
Oh I luuuurve the double flick! So fierce! Bet it’ll look good with a liquid liner on top as well!
and here it is again. girl you should do that tutorial!
ohhh this looks lovely! it complements your eye shape very nicely. I am going to have to try this out for my birthday this weekend.
And this is why I love you. You write the open letters I’m thinking, and you do it in a PG version. HAHA! Remember your friends when you get some video of that karaoke event (which should take place on men’s shirtless night).
Oh, and the makeup! It’s a cool twist, and your cat eyes always look fab. 🙂
Very, very gorgeous, Karen!
Love this look Karen, I have to try it some time! But HEY – back off of my man Jeremy OK? 😉
