Well, hello reading glasses. I recently realized that in order to paint my nails successfully, I need to wear a pair in order to see what I’m doing. Yup, that train has arrived! And I am officially on it.

This beautiful shade by OPI is called Malaga Wine, and no joke, for the longest time I thought that it was called “Malaga Wino” because of OPI’s penchant for cheeky names. Maybe I should’ve looked at the name while wearing my reading glasses, ha ha ha!
It’s a gorgeous creamy reddish wine and very much a fall shade, and while Essie Angora Cardi will forever be my number one fall color, this is a close second. The version I have is from their Infinite Shine gel polish line, by the way, and I picked it up at Ulta. If you prefer a more traditional nail polish formulation, FYI, OPI also carries it in their regular nail polish line.
This is going to sound gross, but I kind of like how it looks like dried blood… I feel like it sends a subtle message to people not to mess with me. Side note: I wish somebody sat me down in high school to warn me that most of one’s work day is devoted to keeping a neutral face and voice while you silently rage inside.
Oh, and cat lady note, guess who stopped by this morning! My neighbor’s orange and white kitty Milo decided that he lives at our house, too. I’ve caught him rubbing the post right next to our door, an act we affectionately call “booping.”

Anyway, he left a whole bunch of boops at the front door this morning, and then he tried to actually go into our house. I was like, “Listen buddy, I love you, and you’re adorable, but Rosie-Pose will eff you up.”

I realize it’s a very cat lady thing to keep tabs on neighborhood cat politics, LOL!
Happy Tuesday to ya, and oh, before you go, let me know if you’re wearing fall-inspired nails today.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Haha I know all about neighborhood cat politics/wars! There’s so many indoor/outdoor kitties around! The orange tabby named “Biscuit” two houses down used to rule the ‘hood. Now he has gotten older and there’s more fences so I don’t see much of him, plus the house in between us has a cat that has taken over. Not sure where my cat fits into all of it but I think when he goes outside he’s looking for mice, not a fight.
You are right on keeping a neutral (or my favorite, the fake smile) on your face during work while you silently rage. Oh to be young and innocent and not have to worry about that s***!
I have that nail polish from the original line! So pretty!
There’s a cat like Biscuit who runs sh*t in our neighborhood; his name is Harris, and he and Milo get into scuffles all the time! Why do I know these things, ha ha ha.
Oh my gosh, it’s exhausting pretending to not be rage-y on video. I just got out of one of those meetings, and I feel like I just ran a marathon.
I hope you’re rocking a fall manicure today!
Hi Karen!
Have you tried the actual Malaga wine? It’s dense and sweet, really nice 🙂 By the way, do you notice a big difference between the regular line and the infinite shine in terms of wear time? Sending a big hug from Malaga!
Hi Martyna,
I didn’t know it was a real thing! I like sweet wines, so I’ll try to find some. 🙂
Re: the difference between the regular line. I do think the gels are easier to apply because you don’t have to wait as long for your nails to dry, but I think the regular line is better when it comes to staying power. For me, the gels tend to chip off in big chunks between 5-7 days, while the regular polishes chip off slowly between 7-10 days. For me the convenience of a faster drying formula outweighs the wear time, though. Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.
Thanks a lot, Karen! I hope you can try the wine 🙂
Ha! So Rosie is a bada$$! How is it you’ve never told us about this?! lol
Milo was probably just lookin’ for some Rosie lovin’.
I think I’ve worn OPI’s Malaga Wine years ago & loved it. Need to search it out again as I’ve been looking for a red family nail color. I picked up Essie’s Transcend The Trend the other day at Target and love it! A perfect seafoam-type green for fall. Have a great week!
Rosie likes to think of herself as an intellectual cat of science, but I’ve seen her in combat mode… I know her true colors. LOL!
I will look into that Essie shade. Sounds like something I would love!
I am not wearing fall nails yet. My usual go to polish dried out and I need to get another one.
I love Milo! We had an orange cat friend who’d try to sneak into a place we rented. He’d also run across the street when I got home from work to come see me. He lived with two other kitties across the street – a friendly white and tabby cat and a black kitty. The black kitty was very shy, but they all hung out in our yard away from their child humans LOL. The white and tabby took naps in sunbeams in my yard most afternoon.
My parents live in the middle of the woods and there are quite a few strays 🙁 my dad befriends as many as possible and sometimes they get promoted to house cat if they’re friendly.
