There are some things we can always count on, like…
- That cats will stick their kitty butts in our face, often at inopportune moments
- That Clarins will knock out a new line of lovely lip products for summer
Clarins is just so good about the whole glossy, effortless lip look thing — the kind of makeup where it looks like you were summoned by the gods and washed up on a tropical shore solely for the purpose of looking seductively pouty, with your luxuriously wavy hair (seaweed artfully woven into it); bronzed, glistening skin and your lips that shine bright like a diamond (Shine bright like a diamond).
Their new line of limited edition moisturizing Lip Balm Crayons (which taste and smell like vanilla milkshake, OMG, YUM!) totally nails that summery lip look. Each retractable pencil lavishes lips with sheer color and glossy shine, while a moisturizing, lightweight mix of mango, apricot and shea butter hydrates your parched pout.
You might find yourself craving all six shades, but you may only need one (or two), because at some point, I think they all start to look the same, especially if your lips are quite pigmented like mine.
I suppose you could blank out the natural color of your lips first using something like OCC’s Tarred + Feathered Lip Balm Duo, and then layer a Clarins Crayon on top to coax out more of its color (you makeup overachiever, you!), but, you know, it’s a lip balm… I don’t think it’s supposed to be that complicated.
If you do decide to get just one, I vote for 01 My Pink. It’s the one designed to react to your pH level, creating a personalized lip color unique to you.
All six of these crayons are pretty sheer, so if you’re looking for a summery lip product packed with pigment, you may want to look elsewhere.
These are more for makeup lovers who want a straight-up moisturizing lip balm with a hint of color, but lots of shine.
Compared to the new Benefit Lip Balms, I think these are slightly shinier, glossier and smoother.

Weekend plans?
I can’t believe it’s already Friday, WOW!
No weekend plans yet for me, but El Hub keeps hinting that he wants to go fishing.
Hmm… I think that man has a selective memory. I keep telling him that the reason I don’t want to go fishing is because every single time I’ve gone before (not to fish, just to watch someone else fishing), I’ve been bored out of my mind. There’s been a lot of sitting and thumb-twiddling.
He keeps trying to sell me on the relaxing aspects (“You could read a book!”), but I’m like, “The couch is waaaaaaay more comfortable than sitting on a pile of rocks.”
If my past fishing experiences taught me anything, it’s that I will always, ALWAYS end up sitting on a pile of rocks, most of them sharp, in direct sunlight, for hours and hours.
Now, if we could just find a cool fishing spot next door to a spa, that would be somethin’ right there… 🙂
You doing anything fun this weekend? I’m thinking about maybe doing some hiking.

Yeah it is! Have you ever tried their Instant Light Lip Perfector? If you haven’t, you need it in your life ASAP. It’s really hydrating. I use it all the time.

I used up all 2 or 3 of my instant light lip perfectors! I am a Clarins junkie because my friend used to work at the Clarins counter. I can’t get enough!
We go fishing up north on a few different rivers. It was fun the few times we went. Just kicked back, listened to music…..and watched the people on the other side of the river catch everything lol (it was so frustrating they were getting big fish left and right!!). There is a lake by our house that we can fish at too, my BF went but I haven’t yet.
Oh nice. I always have an Instant Light in my purse and one on my nightstand. I seriously can’t live without them. Do you use any of their skin care? I love their face lotions. Right now I’m also trying their Double Serum and Neck Cream.
Your fishing trips with your BF sound like fun. I think I’d like it more if I was more comfortable during the kicking back part. Like, if I had comfy chair and an umbrella. I just don’t want to carry all that stuff, LOL!
These do look glossy but I feel like they all look pretty much the same on your lips.
I don’t have any weekend plans. When I was in NC I went hiking with my friends and we hiked to High Shoals Falls and it was beautiful!

Unfortunately, swimming was not allowed there. But it was a great spot for taking pictures!
Haha my cats do that at the worst times too! I like the look of these lip balms, if they had a little more pigment then I’d probably buy a few but at least three of the shades look pretty much the same on the lips.

I like the sheerness of these! Especially in summer I like sheerer lip colors.
These lippies are pretty! Sometimes I like having just a hint of color on my lips, especially in the summer.
Those pics of Tabs are hilarious! I read somewhere that a cat turning around and putting their butt in your face can be vunerable for them and shows that they trust you. At least that’s what I tell myself when I’m constantly seeing a furry behind in my line of sight. 🙂

Nina and Ella like to show their affection by licking me. Sometimes it tickles, but other times it starts to hurt if they do it too long!

Hope you find some cute things at DSW. I was there last weekend and saw some really cute bright pink flats by Sperry on sale but unfortunately the stars were aligned against me because the back heel was scuffed. Oh, and how crazy is this…the DSW near my house carries Coach! And Cole Haan.

The only bad thing about shopping in store at DSW is they don’t always have my size (6). But there’s also a Nordstrom Rack right next to DSW, so I might have to do some clothes shopping too. 🙂

Tomorrow is my (6th!!!) anniversary with my hubs! So we’re going to just chill and do “whatever we want.” 🙂 Totally looking forward to it. Last year we had the whole weekend planned, and this year is kind of the opposite. I love it. 🙂

LOL my dog is always pushing his little rump in my face! It drives me crazy sometimes lol. These balms sound really nice but they all kind of look alike on you. The formula seems really nice though!
Pretty colors but I like the matte look more. I think because I can’t seem to keep lip color on me for very long! Do I pull a LL Cool J and lick them off all the time? Who knows.

These lip pincils make your lips look *so* soft and smooth! Gorgeous! I hear what you say about not needing more than one or two, though, LOL! I think I like Delicious Plum best!
The balms are very summer appropriate. So, now Tabs is abusing his assistant. LOL. My cat hit my face with his tale when i caught him on my bed while i was waking up. I didnt know that tail could hurt. Talk about a wake up call.
