When it comes to saving time, I gotta say, Flower Beauty’s new Eyes on the Prize Eyeshadow Chubby sticks deserve first place honors.
Don’t get me wrong — I could happily fritter away an entire Saturday afternoon blending and blending eyeshadows (I NEED MORE EYES!!), but sometimes, like on really hectic days when my pet assisting duties start early (Mondays are the worst! I’m lucky if I get five minutes of precious makeup time before Tabs is on me to do his bidding.), I’ll do anything to save time.
For quick eye looks these twist-up shadow sticks are #winning. 🙂 The husky tip covers a large swath of lid real estate, so one or two swipes usually does the trick. Just blend out the edges with a finger, curl your lashes, whack on a layer of mascara, and you’re done with your eye makeup in two minutes, dude.
Have you ever used Clinique’s Chubby Stick Shadow Tints? Well, these are similar in terms of texture and color payoff (they have a smooth, creamy formula), but they definitely beat Clinique in price ($8 each versus $17 for Clinique’s).
On my combination oily/dry eyelids, these do start creasing after 3-4 hours, especially if I use too much. Generally with these, the less I use, the better. One or two swipes and maybe 30 seconds of blending with a finger for softly shimmering lids.
If you have uber oily lids, you may want to start with a layer of primer, just to head off any potential creasing. My lids tend to be dry this time of year, but during the summer, yeah, I’d definitely pop some NARS Pro Prime Smudge-Proof on first.
Oh, and you can also use these as bases for your powder shadows. The golden beige color I’ve been wearing, Daffodil With It, is great for that. Again, a small amount should do ya. Anything more than a couple swipes, and things could get creasy…
As for availability, they’re supposed to be carried at select Walmart stores and online (available now), but I haven’t spotted them online yet. I’ll keep my eyes peeled.
If you’re into quick, non-fussy makeup with a hint of shimmer and shine, these could be a good fit.

Oh, gawd… So what do I see when I walk into Trader Joe’s yesterday?
Smack dab there in the middle of the store is a huge, towering display of Dark Chocolate Stars.
Good for my taste buds, bad for the calories I’m allegedly counting.
And get this: now they also come in mint! THE HORROR!
I didn’t really get a close look at them because I had to force myself away; otherwise, at least one of the boxes would have ended up in my cart (I was lucky to get out of there with just one box of the regular dark chocolate stars), but I’m guessing they’re like Girl Scout Thin Mints… Have you had ’em yet? Are they good?

I LOVE eye shadow and lip crayons! My current favorites are Rimmel Scandaleyes shadow sticks – they are affordable and stay on for a good 6-7 hours without creasing!

I am a HUGE FAN of the Dark Chocolate Stars!! Gahhh! I live nowhere near Trader Joes, but I am so bribing my city friends into bringing some up north for me when they visit. And the Flower collection is just looking cuter and cuter to me! I’m not much of a Walmart shopper- I’m hoping maybe Ulta will start stocking it sometime soon, who knows!
