Along with raising me to respect big hair and instilling in me an appreciation for nonsensical song lyrics (“The reflex is a lonely child just waiting by the park…”), the ’80s also taught me about a certain something awesome called houndstooth.
Every girl I knew had something in a houndstooth pattern. I had a jacket I’d wear whenever I wanted to be “taken seriously,” like at piano recitals, haha!
Tabs would love a jacket like that…
The first words out of my mouth when I opened the new Diorblush in Pink Happiness ($42) were “CLASS OF ’89!!”

John Taylor from Duran Duran (SWOON!) might look at these hot pink matte and shimmery golden, peachy pink powder blushes and say, “I can’t use these to contour my cheekbones!” but I like that they aren’t blindingly intense and pigmented; I think it makes them easier to control.
For a radiant, natural look, I’ll swirl a layer or two of the darker shade on the apples of my cheeks, followed by a light dusting of the lighter shade on my upper cheekbones. Both colors stay bright on my cheeks (but not too bright) for 8-10 hours before fading or beginning to look patchy.
Pink Happiness could be a fab day-to-night blush to keep in your work bag. Sweep a couple layers on when you get to your desk (she works hard for the money!), and then at the end of the day, ramp up the intensity with another layer before cabbage patching your way to ’80s night with the girls.

No, I’m sorry, it was just the jacket. But I did have a couple of pair of pinstriped jeans. Do you remember those? And some “awesome” pinstriped, navy Esprit pants. My, how I loved Esprit and Lacoste. I feel warm and fuzzy, just thinking about it. HAHA!

I absolutely NEED this blush! I have no idea how long it takes for Dior collections to hit India. MAC typically takes anytime between 3 to 8 months. I will keep an eye out for this one. Looks fabulous on you!!

Stop with your bad self! Love your serious houndstooth jacket, and that hair!!! I can smell the Aqua Net from here. I had a pair of houndstooth Capri pants, I felt very Ska whenever I wore them. And OMG, I just finished reading JT’s memoir. I was beyond obsessed with him. I can’t even get into it without embarrassing myself. His book was not great, he left a LOT out. It was very unfulfilling for my inner Duranie so I can’t recommend it. But ohhhh, those cheek bones!!!!
