She probably doesn’t remember this, but I have this memory of my friend Jen and I sitting at a bookstore one day looking at wedding magazines. We were in our early 20s at the time and had absolutely no husbandly prospects in sight.
You know those phases you go through where you’re like, “All boys suck”?! Well, we were both in one of those phases, but you know how it goes. One minute you’re reading Cat Fancy, but then you catch a glimpse of a gorgeous dress on the cover of a glossy wedding magazine, and all of a sudden you’re like Fox Mulder from the X-Files, and you really, REALLY want to believe.
So we sat there for hours, flipping through pics (“I like that dress,” “Pretty flowers!” “Do you think you might like a big train?”), until at one point in the conversation, we decided that bridesmaids’ dresses in periwinkle — kind of like the color of Estée Lauder’s new $20 Pure Color Nail Lacquer in Insatiable that I’m completely and totally mad about — were the way to go.

Of course, wouldn’t ya know it? — years later, both of us ended up with completely different bridesmaids’ dresses at our weddings. No periwinkle at all.
Jen went with bronze, and I chose a chocolate brown.

But if I had gone with periwinkle dresses, I hope they would have been as pretty as Insatiable.
To be honest, I wasn’t expecting spectacular the first time I saw Insatiable in its bottle…
Then I applied a layer on one nail. And it was ON!
The only polish in the new Pretty Naughty spring collection, it’s a creamy deep violet gray, wonderfully moody, like the bad boys you know you should stay away from but can’t, or the color of angry storm clouds…

Gawd, I love this color.

One layer provides complete coverage, but I like two because it just makes the color that much more electric.
I also really like the way Insatiable looks with the Pretty Naughty quint and blush (Tease) from the collection.
Just in case you were also thinking about those. 😉
PRICE: $20

MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: A- (I’m not a big fan of the brush, which I wish left crisper edges)
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

That color looks really nice on you. I think I have the worst luck with nail polish colors. Are there colors that look good/ bad on certain skin tones? Or…maybe I’m just picky when it comes to my nail! Haha!
That’s a great color, love the grayish undertone and the bottle is so pretty. This collection looks very intriguing, I will have to check out this polish, the blush, and the eyeliner.
Dude, I LOVE this kind of shade too–this one is AMAZING! Very well done. I need this so effing bad!
Stunning with your skin tone but I want to know more about the jacket youre wearing please??? 🙂
I love that nail color. Your wedding picture is gorgeous.
I love it! It’s all sorts of grey and purple!
I love it – its like blue, but it isnt. Its like purple, but it isnt too. Is it … blurple? 😀
Love this color!
Very pretty .. it looks like a grey, blue, purple ..lol. I don’t know .. it’s a very unique color 🙂
Monica
Love it! Reminds me of Greige Gardens (Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure). EL’s is a little more purple but they are both gorg.
must know where you got the jacket!
Awwww! love the wedding photo- looks like Hawaii. you and your bridesmaids look lovely. Insatiable! The SA’s can’t get those spring colors to my Estee counter fast enough. I have been needing a color like this(love the greyed out purples, like Essie Smokin Hot and Merino Cool), and Estee lacquers go on easy and wear so well! my favorite brand. I was planning on Rescue beauty Lounge Insouciant but I think I will go for this one instead. It is freezing but I am already craving the Spring colors.
Reminds me of Caitlin by Zoya! Love it 🙂
Haha, this post is a good example of why I like your blog so much. Of course I come to read about the latest beauty products and drool over your professional-quality photos, but it’s your fun writing style that really makes me enjoy every visit.
“One minute you’re reading Cat Fancy, but then you catch a glimpse of a gorgeous dress on the cover of a glossy wedding magazine, and all of a sudden you’re like Fox Mulder from the X-Files, and you really, REALLY want to believe.” – Pure gold! 🙂
Thanks, Karen, for being not only a great blogger, but an amazing writer, too.
Estée Lauder has really stepped up their game lately! I am so impressed….I know that it has started popping up in a few Sephora’s. Hopefully it will show up on Sephora.com soon!
Karen,
Would Loreal’s paparazzi pleaser be a dupe for this?
Thanks.
I have a blue/green duochrome nail polish and when I tilt my hands a certain way I see this shade of blue and I’ve been looking out for something like it for ages! So lovely 🙂
