Every once in a while, like today, I want to raise my hands up and yell to the heavens above, “Thank you, universe, for inventing text messaging!”
Waiting in line at the [INSERT ANNOYING PLACE WITH LONG, EXCRUCIATINGLY SLOW-MOVING LINES HERE] wouldn’t be anywhere near as much fun without the random texts about boys and makeup that find their way to my phone. Par exemple, as our high school French teacher used to say, here’s one from my friend Jen yesterday…
And here’s the one I’d text you about Bobbi Brown’s new Bronzer/Blush Duo…
LOL! You might remember it from a few weeks ago when we looked at swatches of the Desert Twilight fall collection.
I just started wearing the limited edition $36 duo, which features Bobbi’s Bahama Brown Shimmer Blush and Pink Peony Illuminating Bronzer, and the compliments have been rolling in!
Sort of. Yesterday the mailman said, “You look less tired than usual,” and this morning El Hub asked if I’d been doing pushups because my cheeks looked “all pink and flushed.”
Not sure if either one qualifies as a compliment, but I’ll take ’em both. 🙂

The split-pan powder compact houses a neutral brown blush on one side and a neutral pink bronzer on the other. Both look super intense in the packaging! — but much less intense on my skin.
They lend a healthy-looking wash of color with the faintest glint of shimmer that leaves me looking like I spent the afternoon sunning on a park bench beside a stack of comic books and a tall glass of ice tea.
For a subtle glow, Bobbi suggests dusting Peony Pink all over the face, and then applying Bahama on the cheeks for some color, but I like to flip that script by wearing Bahama as a bronzer and Peony as a blush.
To apply, I smile — and use a domed brush like the MAC 138 to sweep Bahama Brown on the back part of my cheeks and subtly chisel them out. Then, I blend Pink Peony on the apples of my cheeks using a blush brush for color and radiance.
The look might not be pigmented enough for gals who love intense colors, but the semi-sheer powders are just so easy to blend and long-lasting that I’ve pretty much fallen in love.
Oh, and there’s a good chance they’ll work well with your skin tone, as these shades seem very agreeable.

MAC and Archie Comics coming spring 2012
“Betty! Veronica! Where’d you put my makeup?!”
“Ah, there it is… Over at MAC Cosmetics.”
For their latest collaboration, a comic affair, MAC consulted two very famous girls, one named Betty and the other named Veronica.
The collection doesn’t debut on MAC counters until spring of 2013 (!), but as a comics fan, I’m curious, to say the least.
First, if you’re planning to go to Comic Con in San Diego this week, LUCKY! Second, you might want to stop by the MAC store in the city’s Gaslamp Quarter, located at 234 5th Ave. (between L & K Streets), for an extra serving of artistic flair and early MAC/Archie excitement.
American comic book artist and illustrator Dan Parent of the Archie Comics series will be at the store on Wednesday, July 11, from 2-5 p.m., and Thursday, July 12, from 11-12 p.m. and again from 6-8 p.m., drawing demo illustrations of Archie, Jughead, Betty and Veronica and doing custom sketches for fans.

I played around with this duo yesterday and was quite surprised at how sheer it was–not a bad thing though. I’m not 100% on the texture–it seemed a little hard, but that may also have been because so many ppl’s oily fingers had touched/swatched it. I really like the bronze side–I wasn’t expecting it to be such a neutral pink-brown. I think I’m going back for it!
As for the Archie’s Girls collection, I’m really excited to see what they do with it. I used to be OBSESSED with the comics. TEAM BETTY ALL THE WAY! Veronica was so mean and conniving and spoiled and poor Betty was always there for Archie, no matter how many times he stood her up/stomped on her poor heart. 😛
I think I would do it the way you did as well. I was so confused at first because apparently I only think of bronzer as a contour color now. I was like “Where’s the bronzer??!!” FAIL. lol

It seems to be a popular thing now, those duo blush thingies, right? I love this shade! It’s a gorgeous shade of pink and the other shade really compliments it in a nice way. You look so healthy idd! I love how subtle it lookson you too!
I think that the company accidentally switched the names of the bronzer and the blush. Bahama Brown is the bronzer and Pink Peony is the blush. The way it’s presented makes no logical sense whatsoever.
I am liking the swatches of the bronzer/blush duo and the gel liner.
I wouldn’t be surprised if it WASN’T a mistake because I’ve heard lots of makeup artists suggesting to apply blush on the temples, forehead and chin, which baffles me. Actually, both shades look like blushers to me.
Anyhoo, both shades look so pretty separately, and the finish doesn’t look too shimmery, which is a plus for me personally. I wonder how they would look if mixed together?
No, Pink Peony is called Illuminating Bronzing Powder. I believe Bahama Brown is Shimmer Blush. So no, they’re not mixed up. It’s just weird that Pink Peony is supposed to be a bronzer. 🙂
Since I love BB’s gel liners, I’ll probably snag Twilight Night Shimmer Ink.

I like the idea, though I kind of suspect the bronzer wouldn’t do much for my skin tone. I do this compacts like this one are travel-friendly and beginner-friendly though. Since the powders don’t pack TOO much pigment, it’s harder to make mistakes!

I swear I already have Bahama Brown shimmer blush in my stash somewhere…must look tomorrow. As usual, Karen, you play the role of enabler well. I had to dash off and order the new Twilight liner! I love the other BB liners that I have, and this one looks unlike any other liner from any brand that I own. I bet I’m gonna love it, too!
