The MAC Patentpolish Lip Pencils ($20 each US and $24 CDN)
- So what the heck are they? They’re a new line of 12 chunky twist-up lip pencils available now at maccosmetics.com and coming April 3 to North American MAC counters and internationally this May.
I’ve been wearing five of the 12 non-sticky lip balm-like shades. They’re lightweight, surprisingly pigmented and contain megawatts of shine and buckets of hydrating moisture. Also, in true MAC fashion, they have that telltale faint vanilla scent (but no flavor).

Chances are you’ve seen products that look similar lately, since twist-ups are totally having a moment right now. I feel like you seriously cannot whip your side braid without bumping into them, LOL!
But these new Patentpolishes are a little different because of the lovely rounded tip, which, by the way, makes them surprisingly easy to use. They get right up into the corners of my lips and around the edges without going over, which was a pleasant surprise for me.
- Will I like ’em? Well, if you don’t mind reapplying your lip products often, then maybe. They only last from 2-3 hours for me, depending on how vigorously I’m rubbing my lips together and if I’m eating or drinking anything (both of which reduce the wear time even more).
I think these would be great for gals/guys looking for something shiny to wear on their lips that isn’t sticky or heavy like the average gloss.

Pleasant is gorgeous! I’m glad to see they do seem to be pretty shiny (they better be if you’re implying patent leather shine in the name!), and the shades look nice!

We’ve been seeing them everywhere indeed! Last year and this year even more! I don’t mind it though because I have a soft spot for cute lip products like these and they are so easy to carry with. I quite like the juicy shine of these and the colours are just yum!

No wonder we have seen many similar products in last couple of years. But, these look quite juicy in finish, which I like in my lipsticks.
I’ve been crossing my fingers about these and hoping they were the balmy hydrating sort of magic with a slight kick of color and looks like that is what we are getting! I am so excitessss!
