Hard to believe now after 20-some-odd years of wearing lipstick that there was a time when I was actually kind of afraid of the stuff.
Before walking home after the spring dance in junior high, I was one of those girls frantically removing forbidden eyeliner and Lip Smackers in the bathroom, but by freshman year, I’d gotten the OK from Mom to start wearing makeup legitimately.
My first fully authorized lipstick was a tube of Clinique Raspberry Glacè, and while I was thrilled to have my very own tube of “fancy” lipstick, I couldn’t just apply it straight from the tube… No, I thought that made it look too opaque and heavy, which drew too much attention to my braces, so I was forever dabbing and blotting Raspberry Glacè to get that lightly stained lip look I liked so much.
Now, if the two new limited edition Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Natural Lipsticks from the La Bohème Spring collection ($19 each) had been around back then, I probably would have tucked Raspberry Glacè away into the recesses of my Liz Claiborne purse and opted instead for either reddish coral Folk or peachy beige Bohème for touch-ups at my locker between classes.
Both of these sheer, slick and hydrating lipsticks apply with a gossamer veil of color and shine and have a classic powdery rose flavor and scent that I like. For gals who fear the look of heavy, thick lipsticks (like I did at one time), I fancy them in a way as lipstick training wheels.

Limited edition packaging!

Rouge Artist Natural Lipsticks in Bohème (left) and Folk (right)

From the left: Aqua Eye Pencil in Gypsy, Rouge Artist Natural Lipstick in Bohème and Rouge Artist Natural Lipstick in Folk
But, like those good times gone by and fleeting teenage years, Folk and Bohème disappear all too quickly. On me, within an hour of applying, both colors have mostly faded away…
I like the misty look of these lippies and the way their colors contrast with the bright, shiny shades in the La Bohème Eye Shadow Palette, but I wish they lingered just a little bit longer on my lips.
PRICE: $19 each
AVAILABILITY: Available now at Sephora, Make Up For Ever boutiques and online

What time is it…?
It’s tea time! 🙂 I watched approximately 10 hours of Downton Abbey over the weekend (!), and the sheer quantity of tea I watched being consumed on the screen over that time has driven my tea cravings into full-on overdrive.
Because of it, I couldn’t resist picking up a new flavor, Pukka Tea’s Chamomile & Vanilla.

It’s a little sweet, almost like vanilla ice cream for dessert, and I love how mellow I feel after having a cup.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. How was the rest of your Monday? I hope you had a nice afternoon. Maybe it’s all of the tea I’ve been drinking or this cold I’ve been fighting, but it’s barely 8:30, and I’m ready for bed. Hopefully a good night’s sleep tonight kicks this bug’s behind.

They’re pretty shades 🙂 I’m glad I picked them both up. Hopefully they’ll last longer with lip primer.
Hi Phyrra,
I bet they would. You could probably also layer a little bit of a nude lip liner beneath too to up the staying power.
I was so sure I’d be picking up Folk when you’d swatched it earlier but the staying power is just too disappointing!
It might last longer on you if you’re not a compulsive lip rubber like I am!
Your skin looks wonderful, very healthy and rested! Which foundation are you wearing?
Hi Corallista,
I’m wearing a bunch of things, but as for foundation, that’s MAC Studio Sculpt in NC 42.
Thanks Karen. It looks really good! My MAC MUA had recommended it to me for photographs. I use Studio Fix right now which I like for the coverage but it oxidises a lot!
That tea box is so pretty!
It is. Pukka has some really pretty designs on their boxes.
Hi Karen!
Where can you find Pukka Tea? Sounds yummy, and hopefully can help me sleep 😛 Folk looks really nice, but I’m constantly snacking and eating, so it’s probably not for me. 🙁

I buy mine at Vitamin Shoppe.
Folk is so pretty! But how disappointing that it lasts only an hour on the lips..
It may last longer for you if you aren’t a compulsive lip rubber like I am!
They look amazing! I love the more natural lipstick tones! so this I am getting in love to like the palette! thanks for sharing!
Glad you are enjoying this launch, Silvia! 🙂
I like how you describe them as lipstick training wheels! I need some good ones before I can go out with bright lipstick on!
Yes! Get a little practice with these first. Next thing you know you’ll be rocking bold red lips!
I love that MUFE have done sheer lipstick with this collection! Hopefully they can improve on the formula a bit and release more colors!
I’ve been loving sheer lipsticks lately too, Sonya! Sometimes they feel like a breath of fresh air, AHHHH!
Hun i love you and all your posts they are super amazing… But I am NOT loving your hair. It is all kinds of wrong :s you can do better.
Oh, well. I tried something new today. Guess it didn’t work.
I disagree! I think its really cute!
I love it, I think you look sassy which is something you pull off with ease:)
Thanks, Katrina and Crystal. 🙂
i really dont mind baby steps when it comes to lipsticks … so this will definitely work for me! 🙂
your tea sounds yummy!!!
It’s always good to have easy, peasy lipstick choices!
How are you doing today? I’m feeling much better (sleep will do that for ya!). 🙂
i was a bit sickly last night so now im trying to take it easy. work isnt cooperating though since its been busy, busy, busy! 🙂
can i just say though that a bright lipstick does wonders to cheer me up? im wearing vg nicki and smiling each time i catch a glimpse of my lips!
Those lipsticks look very easy to wear. 🙂 And I like your description of them being like lipstick training wheels.
Hey Swatch and Learn,
It is super easy to wear! I can even put them on without a mirror!
Are you a MUFE fan?
Hello! I’m not super excited about the colors, but I really love the red pattern on the tubes. 🙂 I’ve been dealing with a cold, too, so I feel your pain. Like you, I’ve been downing a lot of tea (with honey, for me) but have not had a chance to watch Downtown Abbey yet. It’s on my list. I was nearly snowed in, in Denver, but luckily escaped on time. You’ll be proud to know that, even though I was a zombie my first night there, I made the trip to Sephora to pick up a couple of things. One was Tarte’s provocateur powder on your recommendation. I really like it! That was kind of the quick summary of last week. 🙂
I purchased the nude shade last Thursday evening! It’s supposed to arrive today. 🙂 Too bad I’m not at home so I can’t wear it yet. 🙁 But I will tomorrow! 😀 I hope I like it.
Folk is really pretty – and I really like sheer lipsticks. Definitely intrigued by these.
Hey Karen, have you ever heard of a store called Teavanna? It is strictly for tea lovers! Since you like tea it’s worth checking out, but it gets kinda pricey.
Oh! I think they have one at the mall near my house. I will have to check it out very soon. Do you have any flavors to recommend?
Hi, Karen, how r u?
