Whatever you do, don’t lose your flux capacitor!!
Because when you slip one of Clarins’ new Rouge Éclat Lipsticks on your lips, and blast back to the past in your time-traveling makeup DeLorean…

…you’ll probably want to return to the present at some point to check your iPhone texts and watch cat videos on YouTube.
With these, Clarins aims to turn back time! — on the lip aging process, making them appear more youthful.

So do they work? Do they flip the flux capacitor and send lips back to the kinder, gentler land of ingenue lips? A time when folks clipped pagers to their right front pockets and strangers addressed me as “miss” instead of “ma’am”?
Well, maybe… In a way.
But, in case you were wondering, they aren’t powered by a flux capacitor. Nope, these are actually plant wax powered.
Clarins combined mimosa, jojoba and sunflower waxes to create a formula designed to boost collagen synthesis and fight the appearance of fine lines.
Whether my collagen’s been boosted, I couldn’t tell, but I do feel a little more like my 20-something self than my 30-something self when I wear one of the three shades I’ve tried (there are 15 available) — Tropical Pink, Coral Pink or Rosewood.
But I think that’s more because of the colors Clarins created, playful shades that remind me of the blissful, carefree days when my biggest concern was worrying about the stoner who lived downstairs returning my Beastie Boys tape…

One layer dresses my lips in a slow-jam of opaque coverage, and the smooth finish refuses to cross into the Evil Forbidden Land of Flakes and Fine Lip Lines!

Make room in your Coach wristlet, though, as you’ll probably want a touch-up after about three hours.
And speaking of that, last weekend I wore Rosewood to the movies with El Hub. Two hours into the movie (we saw Mama, btw), after a tub of popcorn and a marathon eye rolling session (I feared they might get stuck in the back of my head!), most of the formula had vanished, but it left behind a deliciously kissable pink stain.
Will the Rouge Éclats transport you back! — back to those days when you spent every Friday night dancing to Biggie Smalls in dark rooms at house parties?
Hmm… Maybe a little. I know I definitely have a spring in my step when I wear ’em. 🙂
PRICE: $26 each

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Ah Back to the Future, and tapes. Memories. I love the look of these lipsticks!
beautiful soft spring shades 🙂 …. CLARINS makes some amazingggg lip shades which are easy on pocket 🙂
Those colors are making me long for spring all the more! They look great on you; I’m especially loving the coral and pink 🙂
A lot of pretty shades here! I can see Coral Pink, Rosewood, Spicy Orange and a few others join my collection!
The word that most caught my attention is Mimosa. I recently started using the Origins Mimosa eye cream. I can imagine I’d love the Rouge Eclat just as much!
OMG that video of Tabs! He’s such a sweetie.
The colors look gorgeous on you!
Oh wow, I don’t think I’ve even seen a tape for 10 years. . . I don’t even use CDs anymore. Tapes got thrown out many moves ago!
And the lipsticks are pretty, too!
I am loving Nude Rose, Cherry Plum and Rosewood. My “Gotta Buy” list is growing and growing!
I got a sample pack of these and am loving them too! They really make lips look smoother and younger. My fave is Tropical Pink and I think I’ll get a tube of it for sure!
Color Pink is such a gorgeous shade!
Sarah
Such pretty, springy shades! Love them all.
OOh, Rosewood looks nice.
You can really rock that Tropical Pink, it looks amazing on you!
Haven’t tried these yet but I am a big fan of Clarins’ lip products in general so have high hopes for these babies, too.
I like all three, but the one that I have the most problem resisting is Coral Pink!
Sabotage is always on my playlists. 🙂
There are some pretty intriguing colors (and I particularly like your ever-rotating color/name image at the top).
I didn’t have the sound on during Tabs’ greeting but that wasn’t a spray of blood at the end, as a result of his vicious attack, was it? 😉
I love the colours your tried out but I’m not at the point when I’m looking for collagen boosting properties in lipstick..hmmm I think those colours are dupeable though.
I love Back to the future haha (:
Tabs is ah-mazing! So very cute, this li’l cuddly love-bug! Much love to you and kisses to Tabs for sharing this! Perfect start to morning!
I love those shades, especially tropical pink and coral pink. I can’t wait to get my hands on them!
Much nicer on than in the tube!
I liked them in the tube, love them in the swatches and on you – darn you Karen! I can hear my wallet crying from the other room…
i love the rosewood! if i ever head out to a decent mall in this town, i’ll have to try this out against my skin tone. 🙂 i’m making a long list of what to try, due to this lovely blog!
just a question: how often do you do drugstore reviews? i’m curious about your opinion on some of the new stuff that has come out on the drugstore/big box store shelves. 🙂
p.s. that’s hela throwback! i used to have a tape player in my college car. once i got a cd player in my now car, i was SO happy! and that beastie boys album is always played when i drive to san jose. 🙂 happy thursday!
