Um…rose gold?
Yes, rose gold. Still. In all its rosy golden glory.
OK, now, I realize that rose gold is sooo 2013, and depending on where you stand on the subject, it may or may not have peaked, makeup-wise, with last year’s Naked3 palette from Urban Decay or the Rose Gold Shimmering Skin Perfector from BECCA.
You know what, though?
I kind of don’t care. 🙂
I’m going to continue clinging to rose gold with my polished claws and paws because, dagnabbit, I love it, particularly when paired with warmer skin tones.
Today, to keep the Carlos Santana Tone Wedge Sandals I’m wearing company, I painted my nails with Pastorale, a new rose gold nail polish from NARS.
It’s from the recent relaunch of the brand’s nail polish line and arrives with the other shades July 15 at NARS boutiques and narscosmetics.com, and August 1 at Sephora stores and department store NARS counters.
I’m just gonna come out and say it: I love this shade!

SO beautiful! I don’t care if it’s 2013 or not. It’s a beautiful, very flattering color. I still wish it had been color of the year for 2014 instead of radiant orchid anyway.

Yeah, I don’t care where rose gold is on the trend scale, they’ll have to snatch it out of my cold, dead hands! It’s always been my favorite metal. I have a pair of rose gold heart-shaped hoop earrings that have been with me for over a decade! I may have to splurge on this polish!

Pastorale is beautiful! You mentioned it looks good on warmer skin tones, do you think someone with a cool/pale skintone could pull it off too? I just bought the rose gold foil Melanie satchel by LeSportsac at a terrific price (almost 60% off) at Amazon and it would be fun to wear with this polish.

There is a reason rose gold keeps coming back- it is super flattering and goes with everything! Essie Penny Talk is a classic that appears on the red carpet manis again and again. Estee Lauder’s Rose Gold sold out at counters long before the other colors in the Metallics Collection. Is this polish prone to brushstrokes like many of the metallic shades? For another take on rose gold this fall, check out Deborah Lippmann’s Lullaby of Broadway. Gorgeous shade, I think she really got it right with this one.

Rose gold will probably never go out of style for me because it’s my wedding band. I love the color, love how flattering it is, and I love roses and gold…I think it’s an amazingly flattering color on you and I love how it complements your skin. UD Naked 3 is one of my favorite palettes and one of the ones I wear the most when I want to wear nudes. I just bought an NYX pencil recently in rose gold (it’s a cream shadow stick), and it’s just so easy and flattering for the summer. UD liner in Blackheart/Dark Side is now one of my faves.
I could care less about what’s in fashion. If I like a color on me, I rock it. To me, the ones that will only wear what’s in style, care a little too much about others approval of them. How many have horror stories of looking terible, but did it to stay on trend. If you look good, go for it.
I LOVE rose gold, especially rose gold jewelry! In my opinion it’s classic and seems to look good on everyone and with everything. The nail polish is so pretty.

I’d say that Nars is a little late to the rose gold party! But as a redhead, I’ve been wearing rose gold everything forever, and I don’t intend to give it up. That said, I already own 3 rose gold polishes so i’ll pass on the NARS. Back in late February, I bought a gorgeous new rose gold, ruby and diamond necklace to celebrate a big project. For me, rose gold will always be in style 😉
