NARS Angelika Lip Gloss
They say that patience is a virtue…but I don’t have patience for proverbs, LOL! Not when it comes to makeup. When it comes to putting on le war paint, I’m all about instant gratification. 🙂
And today I satisfied the urge to splurge with two glosses from NARS, specifically the collection for spring 2011.
But NARS spring 2011 isn’t out yet, is it? Nope, it’s not (it rolls onto NARS counters soon); lucky for us, two of the upcoming lip glosses are. They’re repromoted colors, and both are available now at Sephora, NARS counters and NARS online.

These girls are the lip gloss versions of two famed NARS blushes, which themselves go by the names Angelika and Super Orgasm.
Like other NARS glosses, both colors come with the classic doe-foot applicator, trademark three-hour wear time and medium-weight, non-sticky texture. Unfortunately, they also come with the same faint plasticky odor and taste I detected in the Follow the Boys and Crazy Heart holiday sets, but at least those (the scent and taste) fade fast.
Angelika
Bluish pink Angelika may look cool, creamy and somewhat translucent lounging all seductively in her tube, but she applies opaque with a touch of silver shimmer. Francois was NOT shy with the pigmentation here, let me tell you, and it’s easy to go overboard with Angelika and venture into p*rn star lips territory. You know how I am about pink glosses, though, and to me this shade shouts “Spring!” from the rooftops. I LOVE IT!

Super Orgasm
If cool pinks aren’t your thing, consider Super Orgasm instead. A sheer peachy pink with big flecks of golden glitter, it doesn’t feel gritty on my lips, despite the large glitter bits. I would have liked a little more pigment (c’mon, it’s called Super O!), but I can still see it paired prettily with coral blush.

I’m going through such a serious Wham/George Michael moment right now that I’m actually contemplating going outside in questionable ’80s attire. I want to wear something with big @ss shoulder pads, sky high bangs and leg warmers.

i noticed you used a josie maran product on your cheeks… what are your thoughts on the makeup products in her line? i’m using the JM argan oil for a moisturizer and i absolutely LOVE it! i was wondering if her cosmetics were worth a look…
I’ve been using alot of Josie Maran products lately and I really like them. The tinted moisturizer and the concealer give good coverage, and the lip glosses are really nice and non-sticky.

These look so pretty, but I’m not that into NARS glosses. The smell bugs me and I feel like the texture is too thin 🙁
I used to not have an issue with the scent until recently. I dunno, maybe my sense of smell has gotten more fine tuned or something, but it definitely is more plastic-y than the tubes I’ve tried in the past.

I have super orgasm, and I do agree, it’s not as pigmented as I’d like, but I still really like the gloss in general. Right now it’s one of my “purse glosses” for those “Oh, no, I forgot lipstick” kinda days.

Oooh Angelika looks just as I imagined on the lips but Super Orgasm isn’t as fabulous as I thought. I love NARS lipglosses for pigmentation and unique colors.

You could always tone down Angelika by doing a very light wash of it. It looks great subtle or built up.
Sad to say, but I don’t own ANY of the NARS glosses. I’ve always looked but never jumped with them….but these two colors are SCREAMING my name, and may come home with me before I deliver this baby in a few months!!

Does Super Orgasm look like a dupe for Nymphette?
Nope — they look nothing alike. Nymphette’s much more pigmented and has a prominent golden pearl. It’s also more pink. Super O. has big glitter flecks absent in Nymphette.
I adore NARS lipglosses. Super O looks amazing, Angelika looks a little bit too cool for my skintone though.
Super O 🙂 I still want the Multiple and the Nailpolish, but NARS went out of Germany so I am saving all my $$$ for the time I am going to the states wit 2 trunks: One empty. I am ging to fill it then with make-up…

Ah, the shoulder pads. Reminds me of a funny story. I was once at a bf’s house for a family wedding and his parents were like “oh, the shoulder pad fell out of your dress” (since it was in the middle of the floor). I was very confused since the dress didn’t have shoulder pads and we discussed this mystery for a good 10 minutes, all the while with me saying it couldn’t possibly be mine. It was lovely to realize and have to admit that it was the pad from my push-up bra. I was 20 and mortified. They got a really big kick out of it. That bra went in the garbage as soon as I got home and I’ve never bought a push-up again! 🙂
