The only thing that came close to getting Glee off my mind today was the lovely NARS Versailles nail polish ($16) from Francois’ collection for summer 2010.

NARS made this pearly lemon gold so easy peasy to work with that I can’t believe it’s not butter. It dries quickly, doesn’t streak and has a nice glossy shine I won’t soon forget.
That’s two coats in the swatch up top…
Methinks Versailles is a much cooler color (as in color temp) than the other golden polish that made a big splash with me this summer, Chanel’s Gold Lamé (with its warmer, almost peachy orange undertones).

I haven’t tried many NARS nail polish shades before, but I’ve liked the ones I’ve tried (with the possible exception of streaky Tallulah). I can’t wait to get Versailles on my tootsies under a pair of strappy black sandals this summer. 🙂 Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: A
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

mmm reminds me of lemon meringue pies. NARS makes a polish called Tallulah? What does it look like? Have you tried Zoya Tallulah? It’s a very pretty medium blue with green shimmer and purple shimmer depending on the angle. One of my fave polishes

It was part of last year’s Vintage Set. Here’s a swatch:

And yum.. lemon meringue pie!
ooh, pretty…..I that’s saying alot, as yellow is my LEAST favorite color. Will this be available at Sephora? I don’t know where else to purchase NARS…….
Hi Donna,
Yes, it should be! It’ll also be available on the Nars website.
Thats a really nice colour 🙂
What do u think is the best drugstore brand for polishes?
Hi Lee,
You’ll have to do it through Gravatar. Here’s the link:

As for drugstore polishes, I like Sally Hansen’s.
i know this is off topic, but how do i get a pic up in my box? lol
i actually like the Chanel, Gold Lame better….hmmm
Hmm indeed! Do you think you might get it?
Oooh. I totally wasn’t that excited about the polish until you wrote about pairing it up on the toes with black strappy sandals. That would be SO CUTE!

Hi Catherine,
YES! I have a pair of black cork platforms that are waiting for this color to get on my toes, hee!
I kinda like both but then I am not sure how they would look on my skintone. Not like I can buy them…lol
The only NARS polish I had was Orgasm and I didn’t like it. I ended up giving it away.

I was tempted by that color. What didn’t you like about it?
I like the nars color a lot. Very pretty!

It’s gorgeous!
I would have to see this in person. I thought I would be all over this because I love soft golden shimmery yellow shades but I am not loving it so far.

Hi Amy,
You’ll have to let me know what you think of it when you see it in person.
Pie? Now you make me want to make pie. Ah well.
It’s quite funny how many different golds there are. I have a darker, more like antiqued gold. It’s pretty old but I still love it, somehow it’s pretty neutral…

Hi Karen B,
Gold seems to be one of those colors that transcends the seasons. It’s always in style for me!
Totally agree – the NARS definitely seems like a better summer gold. Chanel’s is a bit to orangey… and streaky.
It is quite peachy, and kind of expensive for what it is. Still, it might be good for the hard core Chanel folks. 🙂
That’s a beautiful shade. 🙂

I hope you give this one a try!
Well that looks lovely on your skintone, but I don’t think it would work on me. Looks like I’m sticking with china glaze lemon fizz for my summer fun yellow nail color.
Hi Angel,
Lemon Fizz is a beautiful, too. What other colors are you loving for summer?
What a fun color!
It is!
Oooooh, I like the NARS nail polish – that would work so much better for me than the Chanel one. So pretty!
Do you think you might pick this one up?
I might! I wish I would have seen this at Sephora before the beauty insider sale was over! I need to go there later this week, so I’ll have to check it out. Thanks for sharing!
That color looks yummy! 🙂
Totally!
oh, love! That’s such a pretty color. Hurry up, summer!
Hi Shannon,
No kidding! It’s overcast and cold here today, boo.
Ooo I like this! I don’t have anything this color either! When I first saw the promo pics of this, I thought it was a shimmery nude, and thought it was really boring. But this is sweet!

Hi Erin,
This is very sweet. Looks perfect for summer, yes?
Karen-
Thank you so much for comparing the two polishes.
Unfortunately for my wallet I will now have to get Versailles too!
It is a gorgeous color!
WOw, they are both really pretty. Decision decision…

I love that the Lemon is different, but not sure if it would go with my skintone either. Of course if it goes on my toes, I probably won’t care lol
I think the Nars nail polish is “divine” and will go beautifully with a nice 2 carat or bigger diamond ring! I also think it would look gorgeous on a pair of dark suntanned feet with a blingy toe ring or two!
