Good morning, glory! I was thinking last night after reading your comments on the last post that I may not need a treadmill very soon, since I’ll just be chasing the coywolf around the house all day long.
After I put her down last night, I made these easy “healthy” cookies. “Healthy” in quotes. But they’re actually pretty healthy. You take a cup of oatmeal blended in a food processor, 1/4 cup chopped walnuts, two (super ripe) mashed bananas and 1/2 a cup of chocolate chips. Then, cook on a baking sheet at 350 for 15 minutes. Yum! We had them for dessert while we watched Hidden Figures, which was really good. I won’t mind if Connor decides that she wants to be a mathematician for SpaceX or NASA. ?
In other news…lip crayons are having a moment this spring, right? Chanel came out with a line of them, Clinique has their new Crayola Chubby Sticks, and now Hourglass has these $32 Girl Lip Stylo Crayons.
This post is a look at 10 of the 20 available shades (second batch coming up soon).
Do you remember the Hourglass Femme Nude Lip Stylos?? They came out a while ago… Well, these new Girl Lip Stylos have the same style packaging — a pointy tip and a twist-up lipstick in crayon form. I’m sure you’ve seen the same idea before.
How are the Girl Lip Stylos different from the Femme Nude Lip Stylos?
First off, the Girl Lip Stylos have a wider range of colors (and more bold shades), and they’re shinier (I’d call it a luster finish), slicker and smoother. The Femme Nudes have more of a satin finish, so they aren’t quite as shiny.
The Girl Lip Stylos are also creamier than the Femme Nudes — more like a MAC Cremesheen or a Chanel Rouge Coco Shine — so they have that slippery, balm-like texture.
Color and formula
Every single one of the 10 faintly vanilla-scented shades here (there are 20 shades total; stay tuned for swatches of the second batch soon) applies smoothly, and I only need a couple swipes because of how pigmented they are. None of them — not even the brightest of the brights or the darkest of the dark — settle into my lip lines or get jammed up in my flakes.
Oh! — and get this. The deeper shades, like Warrior, Protector and Liberator — fade slowly into a gorgeous, even tint that looks like you’ve been kissing your crush for hours.
They’re also loaded with moisturizing shea butter, jojoba and sunflower seed oils, and they’re wonderfully moisturizing (but not as moisturizing as a shot of Hourglass Lip Oil).
They’re aren’t supposed to be super long-wearing, and they aren’t, so expect to have to reapply them every couple hours.
I like ’em! They aren’t quite as shiny as a gloss, so they definitely aren’t gonna blind you. Second batch of 10 shades coming soon.

OMG… I want Warrior, and Protector, and Liberator, and Leader, and Icon, and Visionary, and Inventor… I never tried the Nude stylos ‘cuz those shades just don’t really work for me, but these! Yes! 🙂

These are amazing for pops of color. The nudes (which I’ll have up soon) from this batch are great too. None of them are of the wash-you-out variety.

I’m so glad you tried these! It’s been so dreary here in KS (with an ice storm on the way) and I’m ready for some pretty spring make up. I also had a pretty low key makeup year in 2016 after having a baby girl. Our girls are only a few months apart?. For some reason, when I was preggo, I couldn’t stand anything on my lips for the first few months and then I didn’t have much time for it after that but I’m easing back into playing with it all again. These are so pretty and I’m craving moisture lately, especially for some quick color in this dry winter season. I can’t wait to see the rest!

I taste a tiny bit of vanilla, but it’s faint, and doesn’t taste artificial. I looked around for an ingredient list but can’t seem to find one; I’ll see if I can track one down for you!
Thanks. So many new lip products out recently that I can’t wear because they have macadamia oil in them, which I’m allergic to. Ugh.
My lips have been so dry, I’m needing to stop my use of matte liquid lipsticks! These are gorgeous.

With matte liquid lipsticks, I find it helps to prep with lip balm first. I love them too, especially for wear, but they do crazy things to my lips, and a layer of lip balm underneath helps a lot.

The circus gym reopened last week, so I went to a hula hoop workshop on Friday night (with a focus on using multiple hoops), and went to hand balance and contortion classes on Saturday! I’m definitely feeling it. I meant to go to a trapeze class today but I wrote down the wrong time and missed it! Darn.
Well. These look beautiful! I love it when darker shades fade to a tint rather than fading patchily/in to lines/flaking off-the latter is not cute and makes them so high maintenance!

Yes, absolutely! They are pretty pricey, so I don’t purchase a lot from them. But I enjoy the quality and overall vibe from Hourglass. Always so pretty and classy!
