It’s a feeling I know all too well…
That gut-busting moment that usually happens to me at airports, when I’m totally stoked about an upcoming trip. I’m through the security check, got my shoes back on, walked all the way down to the gate, and then, as I’m rifling through my makeup bag, I realize, “Crap! I don’t have my [INSERT YOUR CAN’T-LIVE-WITHOUT-IT MAKEUP ITEM HERE].”
Thankfully, if that ever happens to you, and the product happens to be Bobbi Brown’s Rose Gold Shimmer Brick, you might be able to grab a replacement right then and there.
You may remember it from Bobbi’s Rose Gold collection earlier this year — the multipurpose shimmery compact for cheeks and eyes?
In it, five shimmery strips in various shades of peach, pink, gold and bronze sit side by side. You can wear ’em separately as eyeshadows or mixed together with a big fluffy brush and worn as a pinkish peach blush or highlighter, like I’m doing here in these pics.
Still available online (and probably also at many counters, although you may have to ask), it’s just being re-promoted as a travel exclusive (or non-exclusive, as the case may be) and pushed out to select airports and duty-free shops.
Could come in handy if you’re ever stuck at the airport and need a quick hit of shimmery golden pinkish peach…
When it comes to application, I find that using a light touch seems to help. If I go overboard, with either the individual shades or the mix, the powders appear to exaggerate the size of my pores and emphasize my fine lines (boo).
I get a kick out of travel exclusives, especially ones that are hard-to-find. Rose Gold is neither one of the rarest nor most unusual travel pieces I’ve seen, but if you find yourself at an airport on your way to someplace warm, as a shimmery warm, pinkish peach highlighter, Rose Gold should go great with a vacation tan. 🙂

Tuesday was harvest night at the Novato farmers’ market
I wasn’t in the mood to prep dinner last night and was in the mood for fruit! — so El Hub and I stopped by our local farmers’ market.
It’s a pretty small one, because Novato isn’t a big town, but there are about a dozen different fruit stands and booths hosted by local restaurants. We usually get something for dinner from the Thai food stand, but I wanted to try something different, so I opted for a swordfish gyro.
Meh. ‘Twas a’ight. The bread didn’t seem too fresh, and it barely had any swordfish…but I’ve had worse. It wasn’t bad.
I think from this point out, though, I’ll stick to the Thai place.
After dinner, I spotted a stand with some Rainier cherries (FUN FACT: Rainier cherries were developed in 1952 at Washington State University by Harold Fogle. They’re a cross between the Bing and Van cultivars.), so I snagged a pound of those and a handful of Bings.
Of course, I also had to grab some apricots, peaches and nectarines…
And for dessert, a miniature ginger and macaroon cake from a local bakery called flourChylde (what a great name!).
I’m not usually a big fan of ginger (too much can overwhelm other flavors), but that sure was a tasty cake!

That gyro sure LOOKS delicious though. Where I live, food stalls/trucks are illegal 🙁 – I’m so jealous of your stateside people who get them!
My favorite summer fruit are also fruits with stones – peaches (especially white), apricots, pluots, nectarines… YUMMY!
I have the BB Shimmerbrick in Pink. It’s a nice wake me up but I feel a light hand is necessary too – otherwise I start to look like a very pale, shiny, pearl statue!

Do you ever do anything to dress up your fruit? Sometimes I eat mine with plain yogurt and honey. Mostly I just like ’em au naturale, though.
Greek yogurt and honey is always good. But I’m like you – I just cut them open, toss out the pit, and then eat them. Sometimes, for things like strawberries, I like to put condensed milk on them (a Vietnamese friend’s mom showed me that trick!) for a little sweet kick that’s not as heavy as whipped cream.
Oh gosh, the fruit looks too yum! I’ve always liked it when a BB SA applies Shimmer Brick on me, but at home the only way I use is is lightly on top of my cheek bones. I think it’s fine, I’m just not as crazy about it as I thought I would be!

Yeah, it’s definitely one of those products where a little goes a long way.
Shimmer, for me, is a tricky thing to use! So i love the idea of using a light touch. Haven’t tried Bobbi’s shimmer bricks, yet, but would like to! Have heard so much about them. Do you have any favorites, Karen?
LOVE the loot from Farmer’s market! I got some apriums last week (a hybrid of apricot and plum, but unlike pluots, these look like apricots!), besides some fresh daikon, cauliflower and greens :).

Karen, you are not missing out on anything, re:apriums…they taste just like an apricot (at least the ones I tried at the Farmer’s Market).
Ill take a macaroon cake without the ginger lol – im not a huge fan either.
Fun Fact — I dont own a BB Shimmerbrick. 😀 I think ive stayed away all this time because of the word “shimmer” in the product name. Im not big on it… but my curiousity is piqued!

Ahh … weirdly enough, I love the smell of coconut anything, but am not a huge fan of eating it. I am not sure why.
Im on a HUGE lemon kick lately – ive taken to squirting lemon on my water before I drink it and found a yummy White Chocolate/Lemon Cookie in my fave lunch spot during the workweek. Yum!
I never did check out the Rose Gold Shimmer Brick for some reason–but your post is reminding me of how much I wanted it. I’ve only tried the Beige Shimmer Brick (LOVE!)–so i could definitely use another one. 🙂
OMG that swordfish gyro looks SO damn good. Too it didn’t taste as good as it looks–but I’m still craving it regardless. mmm……

How disappointing! Don’t you hate that? I’m always torn between “this is not worth the calories and I should just chuck it” and “I paid for this and there are people starving in the world”. I guess the point is that it kind of rots to buy a disappointing meal. 🙂
That said, Rainier Cherries are the best. And I’ll bet they’re reasonably priced in your neck of the woods. Here, they’re usually about $8.99/lb and only available for a short time.
