Angels & Demons was only the beginning! Where the Illuminati failed, the Glitterati succeed by appealing to lazy ladies who love shimmery cream shadows. Each of the three $18 duos in the collection has two ends. On one, a cream shadow with a doe-foot applicator; on the other, a loose powder shadow with a roller ball.
Despite being expensive for a drugstore makeup product, the flexible, long-wearing duos quickly spread to Target’s many stores nationwide…

I’ve been wearing the Paparazzi duo this week, trying the shadows separately and also layered together.
Jemma must have read my mind as I read the book because the shimmery golden cream shadow side, with its cute, little pieces of glitter, is a snap to apply. I just dab a bit onto my lids and blend with my fingers. That’s it. And the color stays put all day long without creasing or skipping town.
Here it is beside an iPhone for scale…
The roller ball side, which conceals a shimmery, peachy gold loose shadow, also applies easily, distributing powder evenly on my lids, and all I do is blend out the edges with a finger or a brush.
I could wear Paparazzi any day of the week, but I bet it would shine as a weekend getaway product. The next time El Hub whisks me away on a romantic trip to Napa (hint, hint, honey!), it’s coming along for the ride.
For casual day use, I’d probably apply the cream shadow, and then add mascara, blush and gloss. For a dressier look at night, I might layer the powder shadow on top of the cream, add a thick layer of cat liner (and maybe some false lashes) and a lipstick in matte pink or red.
It’s weird… If this were sold as a department store product, I would probably be okay with the price. Flexible, convenient, attractive and long-wearing — but the fact that it’s at Target sorta messes with my head. The price is very high for what I typically think of for drugstore makeup, but you do get a very high quality product for what you pay for.

How do you think these compare to the Tarte versions Karen? These are $1 more than Tarte’s and come in less colors, but I’m always up for something new. And it’s weird about prices. I don’t mind (hardly) spending $38 for an Hourglass eye shadow duo but have a hard time paying more than $10 bucks for something at the drugstore, no matter how good it is!

I would like to try new things I have the Bronse Goddes and the Royal purples. Maybe the Goddes will look good beside the glitteratie of course with out overdoeing it.
I share your discomfort at paying a price like this at Target. Along the same lines, if a product is available at both Sephora and Nordstrom and I’m not re-purchasing via mail, I nearly always buy at Nordstrom – despite the Sephora loyalty program. If I’m going to pay department store prices, I enjoy a department store experience. To me, a luxury shopping experience totally justifies a large portion of the price differential. I suppose that if people don’t care to try out products and discuss them with an SA, then the high-end Target brands fill that niche. They offer quality packaging and pigmentation coupled with drug-store convenience. Packaging is 3/4 of the problem with a lot of drug-store products – I ALWAYS break those compacts.
Wowza, that is NOT a drugstore price. Still, I do like the way it looks. <3
I completely agree with you on the price – even when something’s reasonably priced for a high-end/mid-range item, I’ll have troubles with a larger figure if it’s in the drugstore! I’m alright with paying more at, say, Sephora, because the return policy is so much better… but to pay the same amount and not have the “insurance”? Bleh.

You hit the nail on the head with that! I’m super cautious about shopping for makeup at Target because you can’t return it. Not worth wasting the money unless I’ve tried it elsewhere and loved it.
Premiere looks cool. I own a lot of champagne shades, so I wouldn’t get Paparazzi. How does this compare to Tarte’s version?

I’m interested in how the product’s applicators look! I love cream shadows, and this looks pretty nice. If you review another one could you maybe snap a pic of how they apply on? Though I will obviously check them out if my Target has them! But it usually doesn’t get the best make up goodies.
Yeah I think the Jemma Kidd & Pixi are priced too high for Target. That said, I do love the Jemma Kidd makeup book I purchased. It’s made me curious about her product quality.

OK, I got very excited about “roller ball”, as usual. Also, I think reports of your writer’s block have been greatly exaggerated because this post made me laugh more than once (and I don’t even like Dan Brown!). 🙂 Luckily for me, I’m so in love with my Givenchy shadows that nothing will tempt me for quite a while.
Just a quick primer note, too. I got a sample of Tarte’s ReCreate and just wanted to share that it’s been working really well. I’ve been using under my eyes to keep the powder liner in place. I still use UD Eden on my lids, but find that it likes to camp out in my “fine” lines when used under my eyes. Have you tried the Tarte? What did you think?
