Would you like to give a gift this year that really makes a difference in someone’s life? How about one that also happens to look as pretty as the new limited-edition MUD Cares Palette ($25)?
Every last cent (that’s 100%) from the sale of the new powder eyeshadow quad goes to the NextAid organization, a nonprofit assisting children in Africa who have been orphaned by AIDS.
Make-up Designory (MUD) stocked the palette with four warm, summery shades from their permanent line — Spanish Gold (a rich golden bronze), Dulce de Leche (an iridescent beige), Cashmere (a sparkling rosy beige) and Moss (a shimmery khaki green with golden undertones). Individually, the pans usually retail for $10 each, making $25 a great deal for the quad.
The shadows themselves are all highly pigmented, soft and silky to the touch and apply with hardly any fallout.

Shades clockwise from lower right: Spanish Gold, Cashmere, Dulce de Leche and Moss

Swatches from left: Cashmere, Dulce de Leche, Spanish Gold and Moss

BONUS: the pans are also pop-outs, so the palette’s refillable, too. 🙂
We’ve talked about this before, but isn’t it cool when companies give 100% of the sale of a product to a charity or cause? Not to say that even donations of 5-10% aren’t welcome, but 100%? That’s just awesome.
PRICE: $25
AVAILABILITY: At select MUD Shops, salons, stores and also online.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. Speaking of making a difference, 16-year-old Tiffany sent this wonderful email yesterday, telling me about one of her Christmas gifts this year, a donation to the non-profit World Vision, a group dedicated to building a better world for children.
I am 16 years old and this holiday season my aunt asked me what I would like for Christmas. I began discussing with her about how I’ve been wanting to find the time to make baked goods or gifts for patients at a children’s hospital. Something for someone else. She then told me about World Vision and how you could donate money in order support different causes. I decided to ask my aunt if she could buy a goat to send to Africa for me.
Tiffany, I think you’re extraordinary. 🙂 What a kind and selfless gift.
World Vision also accepts donations directed at educational needs, health care and emergency services, sponsorships, providing small business loans for women and safety for formerly exploited children around the world (including here in the U.S.).

This palette is calling my name! What are you wearing on your lips, by the way? I loves it.
Hi Kerry,
That’s MAC Viva Glam Cyndi Lipglass. Here’s a post with a review/swatches:
Viva La MAC Viva Glam! Swatches and Pics of the New Cyndi and Gaga Lipglasses
Gah! It’s done. I need to get it.
I have Cyndi lipstick, but I’ve been putting off getting the lipglass (broke college kid, you know?)
Thanks!
Hi Kerry,
I totally know that feeling. Good thing the shade will be around for a while… you don’t have to rush. 🙂
This is a might fine look! Very soft and subtle but I can still see the different colours. BTW, love your hair!
Hi Lowelli,
Aw, thanks. My bangs are a little out of control but what are ya gonna do. 🙂
How’s your day going so far? Good, I hope!
Are you wearing the Panthera mascara in these pics? I saw this post before the Panthera post, and thought, “Wow! I wonder what mascara she’s wearing!” 🙂
Hi Allison,
Yup, that’s Panthera in action! It’s kind of amazing, right?
It really is! Just might have to be my next splurge!
Awesome. Maybe wait for the next Sephora VIB or F&F sale? That should knock a few bucks off.
Veeery pretty, that goldish green looks fab on you! 😀 I might try that look this weekend (I think I’ve a similar colour in a MAC palette).
And I totally agree about the donations – I hate it when companies have marketing campaigns based on donating profits to charities, then you find out it’s something like 7% for items that are really expensive.
Hi Advah,
Let me know how your look turns out! If you end up taking a pic I’d love to see it. 🙂
Ooh I’ll def take a pic then! (eek, no pressure, no pressure..)
LOL! You’re too cute! Just snap one with your camera phone and e-mail it to me. People do it all the time!
these are pretty colors!!! and I love how 100% is going towards charity. instead of some small percentage.
love the earrings!!!
Hi Lily,
It’s so cool! Totally reminds me of the MAC Viva Glam!
That’s a pretty palette, that green is gorgeous! I love the look you did with it, subtle but colorful!
Hi Gio,
Thank you! The green shade is my fave out of the bunch. It has the lightest touch of gold that really takes it to the next level.
You’re right these would make great gifts! It’s funny that you mentioned World Vision–I am sponsoring a little girl in Swaziland through them and got a catalog full of goats, chickens, cows, etc. She sent me a picture and she traced a picture of her little hand for me–I cried! World Vision strongly encourages sponsors to buy animals so that the families can be self sufficient instead of buying toys. Love, love this program—so rewarding!
Hi Cindy,
That’s so touching how the child you’re sponsoring sent you a hand drawn picture. 🙂 That’s good to know about the animals…
That’s awesome that they’re donating 100%. Tiffany totally rocks, btw. What a great and selfless gift at Christmastime. Thanks for sharing both of these, Karen. 🙂
You’re welcome, Kim. 🙂 Hope you’re having a nice Tuesday so far… right now Tabs is bugging me to take him out for a walk. It’s gorgeous outside!
I forgot to comment on your good weather! Once again, here in bizzarro world, it’s the opposite. 🙂 I can’t really complain, though. It is mid-November in the Northeast! At least we haven’t seen any snow yet. Although, I’d prefer it to the rain and mud! If it’s going to be cold, it may as well be white and pretty. 🙂
Oh, good news! I finally got my computer back this AM. So far, so good!
That’s GREAT news. When your work space is comfy, everything is right in the world. 🙂
what an awesome palette! the price point is perfect and the cause makes it even more of a worthy buy! 🙂 i like!
Me too. I think it’s really, really cool.
cannot wait to buy it online! 🙂
I think you’re really going to love the green shade. You could easily work it onto other colors in your stash — teal, darker green, coral…
Lovely shades in the palette. And very pretty look. Gold and pink makes a nice eye combo!
Yes it does. Gold on the outer lid and pink on the inner… nom nom!
Karen, you looks so pretty!! I love the moss color on your skin tone <3 This is a lovely palette!
Thanks, Natalie. 🙂 I’m glad you like this palette and hope you get the chance to check it out.
A Must Have!!
Yes!
This is such a great idea!
This palette is not only gorgeous, but it ‘s for a good cause! What more could your make-up loving readers want 🙂
Thank you so much Karen for taking the time to read messages from your followers and make a post like this. I appreciate knowing you really do read and care for all mail you recieve from your readers because we all know how difficult that can be when youre this popular!
Happy Holidays! (especially with Turkey day just around the corner!)
Happy Holidays to you, too, Tiffany! And big kitty hugs from Tabs. 🙂
Thank you for the reminder of World Vision. With my parents living across the world I was having a hard time working out what to get them for Xmas. Now I’ve donated school materials for Africa in their name. I was also wondering what to buy a friend for a wedding gift (since I can’t go because the govt won’t let me leave yet) and I bought them medical supplies for Africa. I hope that they all like their ‘gifts’.
You look fantastic, Karen, and the colours are some that I have on my Sephora wishlist (from various other companies). I might ask for this for Xmas instead 🙂
Hi Emma,
You’re so welcome. I bet your parents and friend will be touched by your donations. 🙂
I love the idea of mixing charity and beauty: fell good and look good, all in one fell swoop. 🙂
Hi Kimberly,
Me too. I love it when companies do stuff like this… totally makes me like ’em more.
How is the quality of the shades?
