Wearing Josie Maran Argan Lip Treatment in Kiss Me
I rue the day I watched Contagion, because if it weren’t for that movie, I’d probably feel a lot better about these three jars of Josie Maran Argan Lip Treatment ($40 for the trio).
Josie packed each pot with argan oil, shea butter and beeswax to repair and moisturize dry lips while imparting a light glossy tint.
I’ve been alternating among the three shades this week — Rosey (a deep rosey pink with a pomegranate scent), Kiss Me (a lime-scented light pink) and Heaven (a glittery, sheer peach with a tangerine scent) — and not only have they kept the flakes away, they’ve also made my lips feel smooth and great.

But dagnabbit! — I don’t like dipping my fingers in the jars. On the one hand, the little 0.24-oz. jars look cute, but when applied with fingers for a few weeks, I see bacterial bad news. Yes, I know that I could address the situation by using a lip brush, but I’d rather not have to tote one around (read: so lazy). I blame Contagion for my inflated fear of worldwide plague…but because I like these hydrating, non-sticky, lightweight lovelies so much, I would love to see Josie squeeze them into tubes.
PRICE: $40 for the trio

P.S.

I’m with you on the bacteria paranoia! I used to date a guy who majored in Microbiology back in university and he always, always had wipes or tiny bottles of hand sanitizer with him. Refused to hold my hand before I washed or sanitized. -_-;; I guess studying about them and actually seeing what they can do under a microscope makes you more cautious than anything. Suffice to say, I picked up the paranoia from him and don’t take kindly to double dipping in any form or manner. Maybe a retractable lip brush can make these work, though, since Kiss Me looks so pretty!
Wow, sanitizing before holding hands is hard core! I kinda wish I thought of that, LOL!
The little pots are SO cute! I definitely agree with you about the sanitation issue, though – I never apply any sort of potted product with my fingers. This policy is fine for putting eye makeup on in the morning, but who wants to tote around a lip brush to reapply lip product (especially a balm)?
Oh, I know! Balms need to be EASY PEASY! Well, at least I want them to be low maintenance.
I love how cute the jars are. I also don’t like to stick my fingers in jars. That would be great if they came in tubes but than they probably wouldn’t be cute.
I know, right? I don’t always pick functional over cute, but when it involves a potential worldwide plague I’ll take the tubes!
Oh these jar balms really get me excited. There is something about the shape and the unscrewing of the lid with the beautiful color showing thru the clear bottom that makes me feel like I’m grabbing a yummy piece of candy. Have you tried the apple balm in the Hello Kitty line from Sephora? It is so yummy and moisturizing and it reminds me of the same packaging idea. Nonetheless, I do worry about the bacteria issue as well…not enough to prevent me from using it though.
By the way Karen, I want to thank you for the effort you put into your site, as my daughter and I are true beauty addicts and you provide a never-ending supply of ideas. And we have come to trust your instincts about cosmetics. You do good gurl!!!!!
Hi Denise,
Thank you for this nice comment! I love that beauty can help bring moms and daughters together. 🙂 How old is your daughter?
She is sixteen going on twenty:). She loved nail polish when she was two and there was no going back from there.
That’s cool you two share a mutual love for makeup! 🙂 Do you like the same brands, or are your tastes very different?
i can only say … TGIF! im happy.
Me too! What are your weekend plans?
I’m not really a germaphobe. I figure if I’ve made it this far in life without being one and haven’t suffered any ill effects, I’ll probably be okay. Plus, germs are impossible to avoid anyway. I dislike pots more for a convenience factor than anything else. Plus I hate sticky fingers. Korres putting their lip butters in squeeze tubes was revolutionary to me!
Yes, that move was genius!
I keep meaning to ask — did you ever get the situation with your neighbor’s dog fixed?
The shades are very pretty! I think they little jars are very cute too but I’d prefer if they came in tubes too. I hate having to apply lip products with my fingers.
Tubes would be awesome!
These are so cute! I’m obsessed with lip balms and would love to try these out. I don’t mind applying balms with my fingers, but I am also a hand sanitizer fiend.
Me too! I keep multiple bottles all over the place. In different purses, jacket pockets, the cars…
TGIF is right! My feline companion is sitting next to me snoring up a storm, I guess she got her weekend rest started a little early. I think these pots are adorable, I think it will be a perfect Christmas gift for a friend who loves girly things that also look pretty to display. I’m not bothered by the pot situation, I’m clean and as long as only I use it, it’ll be okay. But then again, I haven’t seen contagion…
Eek! If you get freaked out by germs, don’t do it. It just may take your paranoia into overdrive (I speak from personal experience).
Dang those kitties and their early weekends. Tabs is resting on my lap as I type this. Well, his bottom half is on my lap, and his top half is draped over my right arm. Cats certainly have the life.
Got any plans for this weekend? My parents are coming to visit tomorrow to visit their “grandcat.” 🙂
I like the caps on the little tubs! Nuff said!
Super cute. 🙂
Nevermind the germs, the ROSE SCENT of these is absolutely nauseating and overbearing. Everything yummy ends up smelling and tasting like rose. Think if the smell of a Chanel Blush in your mouth :o(
It’s too bad because the formula is top notch. She should ditch the scent and do like EOS and make a yummy smelling sphere.
I know what you mean about the jars. I was soooo happy when Korres came out with tubes.
The pots are kinda cute! But yeah, sanitation would be a problem.
40 bucks is very steep for a balm, especially since it’s unsanitary. I prefer EOS or Yes to Carrots :]. How does the Nuance balm fare with these?
These jars are super cute, but it’s funny how even though nobody likes glosses in jars, companies still make them!
I had the Korres lip butters which I loved, till they started getting into my nails.. *ugghhhh*
P.S. Karen, your blog makes me spend compulsively on makeup!! 😀
Karen, this is off topic but what is the name of that pink Mac lipstick you wrote TGIF with? I want it…Thx
These are super cute! I love the colours and the packaging! I so hear you re dipping your fingers in lipbalm though – I don’t mind when it’s at home because I wash my hands often and keep the house clean. But when I’ve been out and about all day and suddenly need to put on lipbalm, I just can’t do it..
Karen, I love your scarf. I am a sucker for knitwear.
why aren’t all balms in tubes is what i want to know. in all my life i’ve only had one and that was because it had a kiwi flavor. but never again.
