I’m a firm believer in the motivational might of makeup as a reward for a job well done, and drugstore mini-hauls after a hard day’s work are a favorite of mine, but sometimes, like after a really monumental achievement — graduation, a new job, reaching a long-term goal — you might want to go even bigger than that.
Big like Tom Ford Beauty’s pricey princess, Violet Fatale Lip Color ($48).
A vivid purplish pink, it makes me feel like a superhero version of myself — bolder, brighter, able to leap tall buildings in a single bound!
Okay, well, maybe not that last one…but I do feel a lot better with it on. 🙂

In what’s proving to be an annoying trend for the line, the price hurts, but for what it’s worth, I think it’s a lord of a lippie. As far as pigment and wear time, it lays the smack down on even the most opaque lipsticks in my collection. I had it on for six hours yesterday, through two big mugs of tea, an apple and a cup of fro-yo (red velvet and vanilla, NOM!), and it didn’t even budge. No bleeding beyond the edges of my lips. Not one iota.
As it fades over time, and it does fade (because nothing lasts forever…), it fades evenly, so that even after a meal, the color looks great.
Oh, and did I mention that it’s highly moisturizing, too?
If you don’t have a reason to celebrate yet, hang in there, and make a note to yourself to remember Violet Fatale when you do. Since it’s a permanent piece in the new Tom Ford Beauty line, it’s not going anywhere for a while.
PRICE: $48
AVAILABILITY: Coming soon to Neiman Marcus stores but available for pre-order online at neimanmarcus.com and bergdorfgoodman.com; available now at London’s Heathrow Airport, Terminals 3 and 5

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S.

Gorgeous colour, that’s for sure! Don’t think I’m up for paying so much money for a lipstick though.
Totally agree with ya. Such a great color.
Beautiful color – exactly the kind I go for. I just wish it was a liiiiittle bit cheaper. Nearly $50 is a bit much for me…
That is a beautiful color, especially for fall. I’m so tempted, but yikes, the price!
that lipstick is gorgeous on u!
Hmm. It’s gorgeous on you, Karen, but I wish the color translated more literally from the tube.
It looks beautiful on you!
A+ from Karen? Even with the price tag? Definitely going in the “must have” list. But as you suggested, I might wait for a monumental event before pulling the trigger on this one.
I particularly appreciate how it looks very wearable despite looking a tad scary in the tube.
I think having this dark of a color definitely gives it diversity (sheering it out, layering, staining all that jazz), but I don’t think i could justify that price tag XD.
Oh to have lovely things.
BEAUTIFUL! But OUCH on the pricetag. That will be a special occasion buy indeed. Thanks for posting!
Beautiful shade. Reminds me of NYX Chloe.
SOOOO gorgeous on you!!!
It’s perfect on you! And really, $48 is that bad for near perfection, right? 🙂 It would be a bit bright for me, but I like everything else about it (wear time, even fade, moisturizing). I’m sure they have a color that would be perfect for me too!
Definitely TGIF! Have a great weekend and knock ’em dead!
Wow, that’s one expensive lipstick! It’d better be perfect for that price, although I don’t think I could ever spend that much on a lipstick. The color is gorgeous though!
Yowza, the price, yet the lippie seems to have wonderful pigment when applied and looks like it moisturizes as well as it feels. I also like how it is more purple-y from a distance, but pinker in the close-up.
The color looks fabulous on you, Karen.
The color is AMAZEBALLS! It’s making me think of giving it for christmas (but only so that I can have a justification to get myself one – hee hee)
This is the lipstick that I am eyeing at!
This looks so great on you! It reminds me of the color of beet juice.
That packaging is to die for! And the shade is something I think anyone can use. How awesome. And thank god it’s permanent, cause I know I won’t be getting it anytime soon(sadly).
Looks so great on you! But rather similar to MAC Rebel, no? I would suggest Rebel to ladies and gentlemen that like the pinky-purple-y shade but not the price point. 😀
Looking so beautiful on you!
Very nice!
hey Karen, will you be at the beauty social on saturday?
i won a ticket and i would love to meet my fave beauty blogger 🙂
Oh my GODDESS!!!! You look amazing with that lip colour! Love it.
That’s a lovely color! I’d suggest Burberry’s No. 15, Bright Plum as a cheaper ($30) yet still luxury option. But I really do love the name, “Violet Fatale”! 🙂
Gorgeous color! The tube itself is so pretty, I’d want to just keep it on display. Happy Friday!
that is the most wearable violet i have ever seen!!!
Tom Ford is lookin’ good on you, girl!
PS. Kiss the the Tabbers for us here in LA! ;- )
So pretty! I thought it’d apply like a dark plum, but I love how it turns into a berry color. I’d love to own a tube of TF!
I love Tom Ford lipsticks. I only buy it when I have a reason to treat myself. It looks great on you!
Reminds me of MAC Rebel
You look Gorgeous with that color!!!
