Good. Now I’m going to dispatch our Emergency Glam Squad to your location and a stick of Benefit’s new Fine-One-One.
Ooh, what’s that?! I’ve never heard of it before.
It’s a new brightening cheek and lip stick — a trio of creams perfect for situations like these. They can be used separately, or together, whenever you need a sheer flush in a flash.
How do I use it? What do I do when it arrives?
First, remove the cap, and twist the dial at the bottom. The stick, which has a shimmery pink champagne color, a matter watermelon and a matte coral, pops up like a tube of deodorant.
Swipe it directly on your cheeks…
…and then your lips.
For a sheer, pinkish coral flush that says, “This is how I look when I wake up, baby!” blend out the edges with your fingers.

Benefit Fine-One-One
- So cute! And what a neat idea with the stick. Seriously, Benefit has a knack for fun packaging.
- I like it better on bare skin. Fine One One seems to look smoother and more pigmented on my combination dry/oily cheeks when I wear it by itself. When I try to layer it on top of foundation and/or powder, it kinda looks patchy…
- My lips aren’t crazy about it. I find it a little drying on my lips, and it highlights each and every flake if I over-apply at all.
- Prepare to reapply. Good thing it’s so portable! — because on my cheeks, it lasts from 4-5 hours when I wear it on top of foundation and/or powder; 3-4 hours on bare skin.
- Like a more expensive version of the MAC’s Casual Colours lip and cheek creams. The two feel a lot alike to me, but Benefit’s version costs considerably more. You get 0.43 ounces of product for $20 with a Casual Colour and 0.28 ounces of product for $30 with Fine One One.
- Coming to Benefit stores and counters this December.
- Probably better for lovelies of light and medium skin tones. Yes, darker damsels can probably rock it, too, but they might need to wear several layers (I use two).
With Fine One One, Benefit’s got a nifty idea with great packaging on its hands, especially if 1) your skin’s in great shape and you usually skip foundation and powder, and 2) you don’t mind having to reapply throughout the day.
Too bad it’s not a bit more flexible…

Trying something new
I wasn’t very good about eating well last week. 🙁 I was just so tired at the end of the days that I didn’t want to cook; I resorted to a steady diet of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches…
I didn’t want a repeat this week, so yesterday I prepped a whole bunch of food.
I made a pot of butternut soup, a few salads, shrimp and veggie pitas, and prepped ingredients for a couple of dinners with shrimp and fish.
Gotta say, I’m kinda stoked! It took about three hours yesterday because I’m not a very organized cook, but I’m basically done for the week.

Your fridge is beautiful! I think I have fridge envy. Ours is full of mismatched leftovers and the cheese drawer is sadly empty, since I’m trying to lay off the “good stuff.” Love your vegetarian/pescatarian ingredients!
I’m trying to lay off the good stuff too, le sigh. Well, just until Thanksgiving. Then I get a bit of a break (two words: pecan pie!).

Hmm? Maybe consider it for casual days? It’s really pretty — and not patchy at all — on bare skin.
Um, did you use it upside down? I think the lightest color is suppose to be swiped on the highest point of your cheeks since it’s the highlighting color, right? Lol. I’m confused.
I used it correctly when I applied it; I accidentally turned it upside down for the pic, sorry!

Is this a cream-to-powder formula, Karen? I don’t really like cheek products in that kind of formulation because I do tend to get patchiness when trying to apply them over foundation. True cream products I usually don’t have an issue with…
This is a cool idea in theory, but I’m not sure how well it can be used in practice. Looks really great on you though!

In all honesty I’m always a bit wary when it comes to in products, it seems that they either work good for the lips or the cheeks but not both I do have to admit that it looks kinda like a candy and I want to eat it, lol. OK, I’m not too crazy about this one but I like your new food system! I try to do a bit of it as well because I tend to skip lunch. I guess first of all I don’t like to eat alone, and second I can’t make an effort to cook something for myself most of the time. That’s why I usually eat random stuff for lunch and meal at night with the guy. I find cooking bigger portions and saving the leftovers definitely helps though! Hope it’ll work for you!

Well, it’s still cute, even if it’s a bit pricey and not very long lasting. 🙂 Nice job on cooking ahead! Your fridge looks super-organized. The boys and I got some grocery shopping done and I have my plan down for the week, too. It always feels better to have that prep work done ahead of time.
That’s so nice that they boys help you! Are they very picky eaters, or will they eat anything?
They’re becoming little champs in the grocery store and love to go off and get things from the list. I have one that will try everything and another who must be threatened to. 🙂 We have a one-bite rule but one of the boys will still pitch a fit. Sometimes I’m frustrated by having a limited menu but, compared to other kids I know, our boys are very open-minded! We just keep trying, again and again. I must say that they’re excellent about eating fruits and vegetables and that’s the most important to me (truth be told, they’re much better than either of their parents about that). 🙂

Hopefully they’ll get more adventurous with food as they get older. Hey, at least they eat their veggies! When my brother and I were kids, we’d pick most them out off all of our meals. The only vegetables we’d actually eat were carrots with ranch dressing or broccoli doused in cheese.

The texture’s creamier and thicker. It’s also much more opaque. Tarte’s Cheek Stains are more gel-like, thinner and more like a wash of color.
It looks gorge on you. Any other powder or cream blush dupe suggestions? I am not a huge fan of stick blushes.
