Its name means “freedom” in French — freedom from cheeks that look blah! Freedom from having to apply layer upon layer of blush! Freedom from that mile-long to-do list! And freedom to embrace lazy days spent lounging in the sun by the pool!
Freedom!!
Yup, NARS Liberté Blush definitely feels like a vacation blush to me, and I sure do like the way it looks with a tan.
I can see it now… The tropics. A beautiful beach. We get up early to catch a few waves before the crowds. A week frolicking in the surf like that, and our cheeks are bronzed and tan.
Liberté would love something like that.
NARS describes the color as a burnished apricot, which leads me to wonder, “How do you burnish an apricot?” But I digress…
LOL! I think it looks more like a matte reddish orange on me — a lighter, slightly peachier matte version of NARS Taos Blush, and it’s the solitary blush in the new nine-piece Summer 2012 collection from NARS.
It’s classic NARS all the way, with a super pigmented, easy-to-blend formula that lasts all day, and wow! I can’t believe it looks so intense in these pics of the pan and the swatch, because as long as I use a light touch when I apply it with something like a fan brush, I think it looks very natural on my cheeks. It reminds me of the way my cheeks look right after a run (when my heart’s still beating a mile a minute).
Something tells me it would look amazing on darker skin tones — heck, on lighter skin tones, too, especially ones that wear warmer colors well. I think it looks pretty fierce on Ginta Lapina, the blonde-haired, blue-eyed beauty featured in the campaign imagery.

Liberté seems to like to go it alone, or at least I think I prefer the way it looks when I don’t wear it with other makeup on my cheeks. Same as with Becca’s Bolero Blush.
When I apply it on top of a stick foundation or creamy concealer, it can look a little patchy. Not a big deal, but it can mean more buffing, so I usually stick to wearing it on bare skin or atop tinted moisturizer.
Cool-toned cuties might feel it’s a little too warm for them, but lasses who love the way they look in warm peach, orange or reddish blushes, especially ones with a tan, may want to give Libertè a chance.
Oh, and because it’s so darn pigmented, you hardly have to use any at all (seriously, just the lightest touch from a fan brush). A pan could last forever…or until the zombies/aliens return. Whichever comes first. 🙂

Lucky for you that it’s just a cleaning. I had one wisdom tooth taken out last week. My face is still a little bit swollen and eating is still uncomfortable. =(
I have many NARS blush, but I still want this one! I would get so much mileage out of it if I used it on dark skinned models.
The swatch looks very very orange which intimidates me as I’m pretty fair. I’ll have to check it out in person I guess.
I’m thinking about investing in a NARS blush… this one is gorgeous! I’m very fair, so this might not be the color for me, but the color and pigmentation are amazing.

Just got back from the dentist’s today, too, Karen… I hate going, too. Always freaks me out, no matter what – even if I know what to expect (mine was a cleaning, too).
That blush looks great on you! Not an easy color for me to wear 🙂 I feel the same way about the dentist, I always expect the worst for some reason – like suddenly needing a root canal or something. Luckily I’m always wrong, they just tell me to wear that darn retainer lol
You are making me buy this Liberte blush and the Bolero from Becca. We are similar in skintone and every time I see something I like in other blogs I always wait for your appreciation, always wait for you to wear it!!!!!!! I was looking at the Nars trio too in other blogs, but wondering if it will even will show on me, and here you are wearing them and I think I will buy it too, love oranges, and peaches!!! Love you!

This is fierce! I think you’re right, medium or darker gals with a warm undertone would probably appreciate this the most. At the moment I don’t see myself rising to the challenge, but this should be good when a good summer comes!

I actually love Marie-Galante. I think that the sheerness is one of the best things about it. I guess it really depends on what look you’re going for.
