Wearing Benefit Ticket To Glossytown Lipgloss in Foxy Lady
Wait — it’s November already? How the heck did that happen…? Just a few weeks till Turkey Day, and then it’s “Welcome to December!”
This month, I’m gonna do everything in my power to avoid last year’s long lines and last-minute gift crunch at Christmas, so I’m trying to wrap up (haha) my holiday shopping by December 1 (we’ll see…).
No more waiting in uncombed hair and tabby fur-covered pajamas for Target to open before dawn on Christmas Eve; no more wrapping presents on my lap in the car and nearly stabbing my thigh with a scissors.
Not this year!
This year I’m starting with the girls on my list, and I think some of them are getting a Ticket to Glossytown.
I know it’s still too early to declare the greatest holiday hits of 2011, but I’m pretty sure Benefit’s $24 set of six adorable mini glosses will land somewhere in the top 10. It features the company’s line of Ultra Shines, and I love, LOVE these glosses!
Rumor has it that the pharaohs of ancient Egypt liked to be buried with these smooth, shiny, non-sticky lippies — so they could use them in the afterlife, of course. 🙂 They’re loaded with long-lasting pigment (last about four hours on me) and crazy moisturizing, too.

Some may find the vanilla/fruit punch fragrance a bit of a turnoff (gotta say — it’s not my favorite), but for what it’s worth, it fades in a few minutes.
Even in light of the scent, I think Glossytown is a kit that most girls would love. Gird your loins, though, because you may be tempted to keep this Ticket for yourself. 🙂

This one’s for my fellow font freaks! Reader Lars passed along this very interesting article from Scientific American about a font designed for dyslexic readers. Christian Boer, a 30-year-old Dutch graphic designer with dyslexia, created Dyslexie to decrease the number of errors made by dyslexics while reading. He tweaked the appearance of certain letters that dyslexics commonly misconstrue.

We got our usual handful of trick-or-treaters last night, and, of course, I had to hide some of the mini-Snickers and Twixes for myself… The kids can have the Smarties, Necco Wafers and Tootsie Rolls (not a fan), but the Snickers and Twixes are for me.

Spiked Punch and Frisk Me are the staple colors for me. Love both of them.
We usually only get a handful of kids on Halloween, but this time for some reason the whole neighborhood showed up and we were out of candy by 7:45!
Just waiting for dinner to be ready. Got some yummy pumpkin crab bisque simmering on the stove!

Fortunately Missy was napping in “her” room (the spare bedroom) when we decided to open for business, so we just shut the door until it was all over. I really don’t want to risk her running outside since we live on a busy street.
I’ve never tried these glosses but they look really nice, I heard some people complaining that they glosses were smaller than they expected, but for $24, they look pretty decently sized to me!
And no sugar coma for me! I’ve been a really good girl lately with my eating habits. Today I was craving a greasy fast food burger so badly, but I ate a boiled egg, an orange, and a few almonds instead!
What a great way to try some Benefit glosses! I love how there’s a variety of shades in this. Very pretty.
I’m not a fan of lipgloss but I think I’d like these. I hate sticky lipgloss.
PS- I love mini Twix bars too! Had some left over and I’ve been snacking on them all day!
Oh, you tempt me! I’m not a gloss gal, but seeing your pretty swatches makes me want to buy this set even though I would probably wear it, like, twice. The price is spot on, too! :/
at 1 piece of candy per kid, we go through 450 pieces of candy in an hour and half! it’s crazy fun here.

We organized a trick or treat for our children in the neighborhood as they come from different nationalities. So we just took the excuse to do that to have fun!
These glosses are definitely going on my wish list for Christmas! Love those colours! I think I might give them as gifts to some of my makeup loving friends too 🙂
Frisk Me looks lovely and I’m a huge fan of moisturizing!
We don’t get trick-or-treaters on our street because there are only a couple of houses. My friend gets hundreds in her neighborhood, so quite a few of us meet at her house, bring our candy to pass out there and our kids go out together.
Oh, that sounds like fun for the kids! It’s like that in my parent’s neighborhood, too. There’s so many kids that come and they usually run out of candy about halfway through the night.
BTW, Benefit sells Frisk Me separately. If you don’t want the kit you can always pick it up on its own.
Thanks! I don’t wear lip products enough for the whole kit, but one tube would be do-able, especially one with a moisturizing formula. 🙂

it was quiet in our street last halloween. i think a lot of the neighborhood kiddos go to a huge fall festival the weekend before halloween, and that takes care of their trick or treating. this also means i have 2 huge bags of candy tempting me each time i pass by the little skull its in. 🙂
ive really lost my taste for wet looking glosses since i found the korres liquid lipstick and the nyx soft matte lip creams. the colors in this set are pretty though, so maybe a gift for someone?

We have the same issue with the leftovers. I picked out a handful of Mini Snickers and Twix and had El Hub bring the rest to work. If it’s in the house I know I’ll end up snacking on it!

I think I will need to pick these glosses up, I haven’t tried any of Benefit’s glosses before and these look like a good way to try them out!
I have always been quite fond of Benefit lipglosses, which says a lot because I am more of a lipstick girl! When I was in high school I believe I wore Benefit’s Who Are You Wearing? ever single day. I may just have to get my hands on this set!
Also, I promise you I will have Funky Town stuck in my head for the rest of the day. I am hoping this will put a nice little groove in my Thursday afternoon.
