I’ve worn eyeliner nearly every day of my life since I started wearing makeup, and I consider myself an experienced liner lady (like, if eyeliners were cats, that’s me!). When I find a great product, I usually don’t stray from it, and I’ve been faithful to my current favorites until now.
Will the new Tarteist Double Take Eyeliner ($24) and Lash Paint Mascara ($23) from Tarte dethone my tried and trues?

By the way, in this look I’m also wearing Shiseido Synchro Skin Foundation, Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer, Makeup Geek Eyeshadows, L’Oreal Brow Stylist Definer, Tarteist Clay Blush Palette, and Ofra Cosmetics Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick in “Miami Fever” (by KathleenLights). And yes, I am forcing myself to use a different lipstick every day and have fallen in love with this color, again.
Tarteist Double Take Eyeliner
We have just reached holy grail status. 🙂 From the first swipe of Tarteist Double Take Eyeliner ($24), I can see that it’s a good one. After a full day of work and errands and exercise, it still looks impeccable, and I don’t say things like this very often, but I’ve tried just about every bad, good, and “just OK” eyeliner out there.
(BTW, if you’re on a budget, try patting a black eyeshadow on top of your liquid eyeliner. It will last much longer and fixes the patchiness.)
Anyways, my favorite eyeliner is Kat Von D Tattoo Liner, and this feels like a slightly thicker and pigmented version. The Tarte tip feels like a super soft marker, which helps the pigment quickly catch onto the lids.
I still love Kat’s Tattoo Liner for its super-thin brush tip, but the Tarte one performs a tiny bit better for my style.
On top of that, there’s a pencil eyeliner on the other end just to, like…I guess…make things way more convenient.
Stop, I feel officially spoiled.
Tarteist Lash Paint Mascara
Tarteist Lash Paint Mascara ($23) is an appropriately named jet-black mascara with an inky, thick formula, and I’m impressed by how dramatic it makes my straight, thick lashes look.
A mascara has to do a LOT for me to remember to apply it every morning…and this one’s doing great things in the volume department.
I bet it’ll work magic if you have thin or long lashes, but because of its intensity and weight, it has a tendency to flatten out my lashes post-curling. But that hasn’t stopped me from reaching for it. But that’s just something to think about. If this mascara is supposed to be the mascara equivalent of the liquid eyeliner, it nails it.

“Miami Fever” by Kathleen Lights x OFRA Cosmetics! It’s an amazing liquid lipstick.
Hmm if it’s heavy it might not work for me. I have a sample so we shall see.

I’m a KVD liner lover normally but if this is a relatively similar formula I’m definitely going to give it a try! KVD is so hard to get hold of in the UK!

Your liner is so perfect! I sometimes struggle with black liquid liner because my lids are textured, and some formula just won’t trace a crisp line on me.

I’ve had that same problem too. One thing I like to do after I apply liquid liner is take an angled brush loaded with gel liner and run it along the edges of the liquid liner. It helps smooth out the line so that it’s nice and crisp along the edges.
“Liner lady” yeeeees!!! You exemplify my liner goals. I’ve been getting into makeup for awhile now and I was having trouble with eyeliner with my hooded eyes. Reading MBB for awhile I was excited to see an Asian intern come. I am Asian and I have similar eyes to yours. When I saw your first article with your face it was eyeliner love at first sight! I absolutely love your eyeliner, and also your eyeshadow with it. I’m still practicing but must say that your pictures, though not specifically eyeliner tutorials, really have helped me a lot! Getting the shape down and where to angle the tail, all that I can get with your pictures as a guide. Thank you so much! Now if I could just get your eyeshadow looks down… 😉

Some quick liner tips that I’ve found helpful…
1) Keep your eyes open and look ahead into a mirror when you’re applying your wing.
2) Tightline your upper lash line, and then start your upper lash liner from the middle of the lash line (instead of going all the way across from inner to outer corner).
3) Build out the liner by layering products — first use a black shadow, then layer a gel liner on top, then a liquid liner. This helps you to get the shape first, and it also helps the liner last longer.
4) If you need to correct the angle of your wings, wet an angled brush with makeup remover and run it along the edges to clean them up.

Take lots of time to experiment and see what looks the best on you. My eyes are pretty round and close together, so I like to elongate them. So that means my eyeshadow and liner always emphasize the edges of my eyes. I love a medium taupy eyeshadow ALL over the lid + a slightly deeper brown right on the edges blended into the eyeliner line 🙂

Fellow liner lady over here! But I have to say, your liner skills are amazing, such a gorgeous wing. I don’t really wear pencil liner very often, so I am not sure if I would get a lot of use out of that side.
You could probably use it to tight line? Maybe? That’s what I’d use it for!

If you haven’t tried these Tarte goodies yet: I love Tarte blushes. Exposed is a cult favorite for a reason. It’s the perfect matte everyday nude. I really like the Tartelette (best all-matte palette ever), Tartelette in Bloom, and Tartelette Tease palettes. The Clay Pot Liners are amazing. I’m really enjoying the color Mint(LE) this season. Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara is my favorite mascara.

I have NOT tried Exposed, but am aware its the perfect blush, ever. I was able to try out the formula with the Tarteist Blush Palette and I love that thing!
I have had my eye on Mint too. That is a hard color to come by.
I’m glad you’re loving the Tarteist palette. I think it’s formula feels creamier than the other Tarte palettes and singles I have, but they’re all really nice.
I think you’d look lovely in the Mint eyeliner. Mint eyeliner is so on trend this summer, too. I keep seeing it pop up on YouTube, Pinterest, and Instagram. Jacklyn Hill did a really pretty warm brown eye with the Tarte Mint winged out.

I’ve heard some girls say the earlier Tarte blushes weren’t as “creamy” as the current iteration. But who knows it’s all speculation and different color formulas as well.
I don’t know. Tarte got bought out a year or two ago, and I think there has been some dinking around with the formulas. Still good stuff, regardless.
