An affair to remember… That’s how I’m looking at my nails this morning. 🙂 I’m wearing MAC Light Affair on my fingers ($12, from the Love Lace collection) and Chanel Jade on my toes.
How ’bout you?

Ouch!
Sorry for the outburst, ladies, but I must have gotten a little stardust in my eyes… 🙂
It must have happened while I was playing with Urban Decay’s new Stardust Eyeshadows ($20, available in nine shades) for spring.
Observe the claw marks in the pan of Moon Spoon on the right…

LOL! Guess I should trim my nails. But seriously, it must have happened in transit. No, I do not have Wolverine claws. 🙂
Anywho, let’s talk about glitter for a sec because, according to Urban Decay, these sheer cuties will blind you with shine-ance, thanks to something UD calls “reflex” — an ingredient that supposedly makes the stuff cling better to lids.
Reflex… Corny name, but who cares if it works, right? I haven’t tried ’em out yet, but I’ll let you know. For now I’m keeping my clawed fingers crossed.

Whew! What a day, ladies. I’m frazzle-bedazzled, but at least we got Monday out of the way.
What are you doing tonight? Anything fun?

Bobbi Brown, Queen of Neutrals, wants to help us look a little less tired with her new spring collection. Called Makeup Face Lift (Hey, BB! My sleep-deprived self is totally down for that!), the eight-piece collection’s mix of new and re-promoted products from the permanent line are supposed to be able to help create a fresh face in five minutes or less.
First, what do you think of the Tinted Eye Brightener ($38, comes in eight shades)? It’s basically Bobbi’s famous potted Tinted Eye Brightener repackaged as a convenient click pen.

I’d heard about it before but hadn’t given it a try until today. Now I see why so many women like it! 🙂
Talk about creeeeamy. Like hot butter — hot butter that doesn’t settle into little lines and creases, so it’s like *magic* hot butter if you’re 30-something (like me).

If you’re reading this, then HALLELUJAR, the blog is still alive!! There are still some kinks to be worked out and some general wonkiness, but shouldn’t be much longer now. Thanks for hanging in there with me!
I’m good but pretty distracted! I’m trying to figure out how to wear Urban Decay’s new Stardust eyeshadows. They’re a little more sparkly than I’m used to (but still VERY pretty).
Yup, to cherish time with friends and family.
HUGE fan. Ever since Terminator, which I remember watching at the tender age of eight! I love how anything’s possible in science fiction — the endless possibilities and cool technology and stuff like time travel.
Yay, but only in carefully controlled amounts, LOL! Too many and I start lookin’ like a short, tanned Blanche Deveraux.
1) I don’t have any tattoos, 2) I’m starting to see myself as a photographer, 3) I love to swim, 4) I have tiny wrists and a mole on the bottom of one foot, and 5) I used to love going to the library with my dad when I was a kid.
It’s not sexy, but Cetaphil rocks my world. It’s just four bucks, plays well with my sensitive skin, moisturizes and works everywhere, from face to body.
I guess I’m doing okay with mine. I’ve started to pay more attention to what I eat. I’m trying to stay optimistic and realistic about, though. Bad habits don’t change overnight.
Jeans, a brown turtleneck sweater and tan socks. 🙂
Reconnect with some friends I haven’t spoken to in ages, try a new low-fat recipe every day (I can’t wait to make this linguine with garlicky clams and peas dish), get in some exercise, and find some new music.
HELLOOOOO, ladies! It feels like we haven’t talked in forever!
Even if you’re reading this at chow time, I always like hearing from you. 🙂 Let me know what’s shakin’ on your end of the keyboard. Just copy this here list, and paste it with your answers in the comments.
Talk soon!

What’s up, weekenders? I hope your Saturday’s rolling, rolling, rolling right along. Today’s been an errands/chores day for me — grocery shopping, post office, laundry and cleaning. But all work and no play makes Karen a dull girl, so I managed to sneak in some e-surfing too.
Time lapse Paris…
A year in 120 seconds…
Some beautiful camera work in this short film
I’m off to Trader Joe’s! What have you been up to today? 🙂

P.S. This weekend I’m workin’ with my web hosting company to move Makeup and Beauty Blog to better digs. Well, they’re doing the work. My involvement’s limited to crossing fingers. 🙂 Apologies in advance for the loss of any recent comments or other goofiness that may occur this afternoon and early tomorrow. It should all be over soon, and once it is the blog should load a little faster.

Cleopatra may have rocked a mean cat eye, but she wasn’t history’s first style icon. Scientists say that title may belong to a 50,000-year-old Neanderthal.
Professor Joao Zilhao, an archaeologist from Bristol University in the UK, and his team say that shells found at two sites once inhabited by Neanderthals in the Murcia province of southern Spain were actually containers used to mix and store “body paint.”
Along with the ancient pigment-coated shells, the team uncovered black sticks of manganese, lumps of a yellow pigment possibly used as a foundation, and a red powder mixed with flecks of a reflective brilliant black mineral (used as eyeshadow, perhaps?).
Our ancient girl was quite the trendsetter, at the forefront of natural cosmetics. 🙂
