My bad luck in the crap shoot that is genetics = totally your gain. Why else would the powers that be bestow upon me a dense thicket of body hair if not to serve as a guinea pig for all of (hairy) womankind?

Peep the latest episode in the epic struggle between Karen and all forms of hair removal technology — this bottle of EOS Evolution of Smooth Pomegranate Raspberry Shave Cream.

I picked it up at Tar-ghay last week when the cute pink bottle caught my eye (it was also on sale for $2, down from the regular $5).

The Pomegranate Raspberry version is one of seven scents in the line. EOS dipped into their garden for these paraben-free bad boys, adding aloe, oat and shea butter to moisturize parched skin.

These Boots Stay Perfect and Come in 22 Colors: The Boots $6 Eyeshadow Singles

Here’s a question I wish I could answer: why are some days easier makeup days than others? Seriously, some mornings I wake up with agile fingers and a mind filled with makeup inspiration; on those days I can bang out a blended look with six different eyeshadows and barely bat an eye. Other days, however, even the simplest look using a single color will feel like a Sisyphean task.

Whether or not the universe is conspiring against me, I know one thing for sure: whenever I feel like I’m making a fist with five thumbs, these Boots No. 7 Stay Perfect Eyeshadows ($6 each) are going to come in handy.

I started wearing Khaki (a sheer greenish gold powder) last weekend, and now I can’t wait to see the other colors in this permanent collection of shadow singles. There are 22 to choose from, and unlike the uninspiring Boots Breeze trio I tried last week, Khaki looks and feels smooth on my lids (the powder doesn’t look like it’s sitting on top of my skin).

Gals who love natural eye looks might like its subtle shimmer (it’s not as bold as a high shine frost). The effect reminds me of the light outside in the summer at dusk.

Ever since an “incident” about a decade ago involving free cosmopolitans (long story short, but I hadn’t eaten anything beforehand and weighed 98 pounds at the time), I haven’t been a big boozer, but I am a total lush (as you well know) when it comes to makeup.

    4. A pair of J. Brand 811 skinny jeans and a tie-dyed pink Roxy hoodie. It’s a little loud, but it’s comfy, warm and I like how it makes me feel.

  4. Three things you’d (probably) never guess about me:

    5. 1) I long to play the accordion, 2) before I met Tabs I didn’t consider myself a cat person, and 3) I cannot stand Butterfinger candy bars.

  5. What would you like to get done today?

    6. Other than getting all of my work done, I’d like to take Tabs for a long walk, stop by Trader Joe’s, and make it to the Post Office before it closes this afternoon.

  6. What were your favorite TV shows when you were a kid?

    7. These are in no particular order: Silver Spoons, The Cosby Show, Barbara Mandrell and the Mandrell Sisters, Thundercats…and that’s just the tip of the TV iceberg, for reals! I was raised on a steady diet of television.

  7. Can you skateboard?

    8. I tried once when I was seven; I fell onto the pavement and sprained my arm. So I guess the short answer is “No.”

  8. I really want…

    9. More hours in the day! To sleep well every single night. Someone to clean my house from floor to ceiling for me. More patience. To go on a long vacation. To lose 15 pounds.

  9. Do you like horror movies?

    10. I like the cheesy ones best (a la zombies at the mall), but I can’t hang with the real-deal horror ones — the exorcisms and Catholic priests ones. In those I’ve usually got my eyes covered with one hand while I clutch my rosary with the other.

  10. Weekly goals:

    11. Get a gel seat for my bicycle (the one I have now is KILLING MY BUM!), sniff Bath & Body Works’ new Dark Kiss and Forever Sunshine scents, and find a hydrating eye cream that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg (any suggestions?).
